I do love you all so 💕

Bad Days have been known around these parts too. We call them 'rebooting'.

Let's hope today is a fully rebooted day all round!

I'm with you over the wolves in the New Forest sound mildly terrifying @petalpower I feel they are enchanting only from a safe distance.

I have just looked to see if I'd imagined and found this 😔

Oh how desperately sad. 💔

WinterFrogs · 03/06/2025 08:49

I know @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia 💔

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better @SpiritOfEdna

Excellent doings @Peridot1 and @petalpower

👋 everyone else!

A long day yesterday, rounded off by a nice meal in a local pub. I am slightly less organised than I was yesterday morning as a reult, but I am ready to get going now.
I am looking at a cluttered area in the bedroom and I'll sort that out today.

I don't think I actually need to leave the house today, so I'll get my exercise in by doing something useful in the garden.
It's very blustery today!

Morning - it must have been wild here overnight - the plants are looking a bit bedraggled out there... Busy morning already out at the gym early and now getting stuck into filing and shredding.
Today:

  • a shed trip to get some tools out and hopefully discover a brand new tin of brilliant white gloss paint 😄
  • look for a new paint colour for bedroom - I will dither for months over this one there will be many testers
  • SpiritDoggo needs a walk
  • got a load of washing on - jeans etc
  • Another interview this afternoon which I am dreading 😄
  • plan a trip to the tip - got loads ready to go
That's all for the day, am off to the shed 😄, have a good one, SoE

Afternoon folks, just jumping in to quickly update and read the rest of the thread. Last Thursday was a very full conference day in Glasgow and I was absolutely shattered on Friday and Saturday. I left the house Thursday morning at 5:50am and didn’t get back in until 11:45pm that same day. Such a long time wearing an underwire bra! 😩 Saturday was my potato day where I rested by listening to an audiobook, several podcasts, playing games on my iPad and eventually watching some of The Handmaid’s Tale to catch up.

Sunday, I lit a fire under my behind and got some housework done. Between Sunday and this morning, I’ve just about cleared the laundry basket, meal prepped, done some shopping, and paid some bills. There’s another load of sheets in the dryer just now. This morning I had a bit of self care with what @lucysmam calls a scrubby shower. I washed/conditioned my hair, exfoliate my feet and face, (exfoliate all the things!), and just genuinely felt good after recovering from an intense day of online calls on Monday.

@mumofoneAlonebutokay @WinterFrogs I still need to clear the living room and kitchen tables of excess receipts, mail and general detritus. 😬

@RunningKatie @SpiritOfEdna @Aria999 sending y’all big hugs to help you weather the storms you’re navigating right now. @Peridot1 how’s your food intake going? When can you restart solid foods?

Peridot1 · 03/06/2025 14:04

Hello all

Loving all the updates. Although my brain is struggling to remember who said what! Cupcakes/wolves/pubs/laundry/desk tidying and picking paint colours and underwire bra for too long is what I remember!

Been at the dentist this morning to check progress on the tissue graft and thankfully all is well and the graft has taken and is healing nicely. Yay! I celebrated with a coffee and an almond croissant. And bought a chicken and leek pie for dinner. I still have to be careful obviously. I had reintroduced some soft foods this week and as I also have a gap on the other side it’s still not easy to chew. But hopefully on the home stretch now of getting both implants finished.

My ironing pile was picked up this morning so that should be back in a few days. I kept back a few easy things so I might do them this afternoon. I was hoping to go for a walk but it’s pouring with rain. So housework might be my activity for the afternoon.

Also need to do a menu plan for rest of week so DH can add anything needed to supermarket delivery this afternoon.

Have a great day all.

Aria999 · 03/06/2025 16:16

Mmm almond croissant @Peridot1. You have reminded me I have not had breakfast yet! Glad you are doing better!

Aria999 · 03/06/2025 16:21

@JingsMahBucket thanks! I hear you re the underwire bras. I have had to ditch mine as they were too uncomfortable for lying in bed post op, even with a back extender (not sure why exactly as the cut up bits are lower down 🤷‍♀️) - I got some padded adjustable sports bras to wear instead and I love them, they actually look just as good to my surprise.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/06/2025 17:47

Oh, god, bras.... I can't wear them anymore! 😂
No, not flopping around....😁
Tanks with built-in shelf bras, and light sports bras only now. I have a drawer of gorgeous bras that have sat for years now. Wore one several months ago and it was painful! 😲

Woke up at 4am to have some water and open the windows and get some cool fresh air in, then baby woke, then Havoc. 😵‍💫 We all fell back asleep around 5:30am. I woke up again at 8:30am and had about 15 mins to myself to get coffee, milk heated for my latte and toast done.

The air is cool, there's a bit of a breeze and mostly blue sky. Have got a morning talk show on, kids are playing now and I'm about to make another latte. And maybe have another piece of toast. Have got to take Have to an activity across town soon. So far it's a great morning. I hope everyone is having a good day.

ps
Peridot, I loooove almond croissant. Love. 😋

JingsMahBucket · 03/06/2025 19:11

I think I need to get a new raft of underwire bras since I've lost weight and have had other body changes lately. And I definitely need to re-up my sports bra resources. My whole dang bra drawer needs culling and a restart. Maybe I can try for my birthday in September? 🤔

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/06/2025 03:23

@JingsMahBucket I don't plan to buy a proper bra ever again. 🙅‍♀️
@Peridot1 I bought an almond croissant on the way home with Havoc today. Thanks for planting that seed. A lot. 🙄

Have seen two different kinds of bees buzzing on the lavender which has been nice. Hoping the blueberry bushes will attract them as well when they bloom. The little gnome seems to like his spot beside the spearmint and oregano. So, that's nice. An unhappy gnome can cause problems.

I love that this thread has it's ditherers! Makes me feel normal. Don't suppose you are a ditherer @petalpower Weren't you a head teacher?
I try to keep life very simple but my head has exploded a bit with extra work. Suddenly my life is not my own!
Croissants sound worth the wait @Peridot1! I had a hot chocolate for my breakfast today, as I was called on an errand before I'd even got dressed, so I popped by to the care home to see my mum on my way back and took her to their little café.

OP posts:
WinterFrogs · 04/06/2025 06:54

I wrote that ^^ yesterday and got sidetracked and forgot about it...
I've gone off bras a bit too. I put on a bit of weight over the winter and found myself not wearing one at all round the house. Weight has gone back to normal slightly overweight levels so it's not quite as uncomfortable now. Trouble with sports bras are the squashing/ heat effect - unless I'm doing it wrong?
Love the idea of the ironing raffle prize @Peridot1! Glad you have made use of that.

That gnome is cute @Mumtobabyhavoc I hope he is happy there!

On the subject of bras...I think I have shared this link before, but this is where my 'gently worn' ones go

https://www.smallsforall.org/

Home

We collect only brand new pants and new or gently worn bras. We operate from the UK and support people and charitable organisations working on projects in Africa and the UK who are able to transport and distribute the underwear we collect.

Well remembered @WinterFrogs - I was a deputy head and am definitely not a ditherer! I’m very much a lists and organisation person as opposed to DH who is a champion procrastinator!

WinterFrogs · 04/06/2025 15:38

It's the opposite in my house @petalpower!
I can only be organised with a lot of simplicity. I am so impressed by people like you! I do have my talents but not becoming overwhelmed is not among them.

This made me grin

Afternoon all.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - sorry not sorry about the almond croissant idea! Hope yours was yummy. In all honesty mine was ok but I think a bit sweet really. I didn’t finish it. Think I’d prefer a plain one next time.

A bit of a bitty day today. Supermarket delivery arrived and DH can’t do anything still so I had to deal with it. Think I might have to ban him from ordering. When putting stuff away I discovered 4 bottles of Hoisin sauce, four bottles of dark soy sauce and five bottles of light soy sauce. Sorting the delivery out and squeezing everything into the fridges and freezers took me a bit of time. Then I went to the gym but later than I wanted.

Our garden waste bin gets picked up tomorrow so I raked along the side of the drive where the gardener we got on Monday had strimmed. She did a good job of the strimming everywhere but didn’t pick anything up. So it’s all looking a bit messy. But it does mean I can run over that area with the small lawnmower and finish it off.

I read something over the last few days on Instagram or FB about leaving every room 1% better than when you went into it which reminded me of this thread and I’ve been trying to do it and it does seem to help me a bit. Might be good for the ditherers amongst us!

And my ironing got dropped back this afternoon! Very impressed. It’s all so tidy it’s inspired me to have a tidy up of my wardrobe. And a bit of a clear out as I’ve gone a little bit mad buying recently!

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/06/2025 19:40

Peridot, I just finished my 2nd plain croissant. I baked them from frozen. They're very good. I felt I deserved it because I registered the dc for swimming which was a bloody frustrating process. I ended up with reg'ing me taking baby early morning for parent and tot lesson then taking Havoc for lesson at noon same day. Reg goes very fast so by the time I reg'd baby there were only two time slots left for Havoc's level. I needed to write things down and cross reference, check sched for other activity I want to reg baby for and all with two little ones running around, yelling, playing, talking to me, trying to climb on me, general feral behaviour, really. 😵‍💫
Sipping a latte now.

Have also cleaned under breakfast table twice 😡 and washed the towels.
Woke up with a bug bite on the front of my thigh. Likely from a mozzie, but can't recall any yesterday and I've got screens on all the windows and door to the deck. 🤔
Isn't it interesting how the brain is aware of everything? I woke up, eyes still closed and immediately reached to my thigh and felt it and it wasn't even itchy. So, of course I scratched it. Regrettably. Had to take an anti-histamine after that. 🙄😂

WinterFrogs · 05/06/2025 07:08

Morning! All this croissant talk is making me hungry!
That all sounds highly complex, particularly with added feral children @Mumtobabyhavoc

@Peridot1 I've been meaning to sort out my wardrobe for some time. We've moved quite a lot of stuff due to regular overnight family visits lately, but I need to reclaim some of the spaces really. I like the 1% better idea. I think a lot of procrastination comes from not having time to do things perfectly, so not doing them at all. In my case anyway.

Today I absolutely am going to clear the top of a chest of drawers which has become a dumping ground. I've been putting it off for weeks. I'll time it and I bet it takes less than ten minutes.

BRB!

JingsMahBucket · 05/06/2025 07:41

@WinterFrogs that bunny is adorably accurate. BTW, I’m also one for constant overwhelm so you’re not alone there. I have plenty of clothes and other doom piles around our small bedroom right now. I blame the clothes piles on the weird transitional weather we’re having. I’ve got both chunky sweaters and lighter tops in rotation and it’s too much. I should probably do a sorting in the next couple weeks. This is hoping we don’t have a rainy cold summer like we did last year. 😔

I’m jealous of all the almond croissant talk. There’s nowhere to really get one in my town I think. Maybe Costa? I’ll investigate. Okay, I think here’s my list for today:

  • personal grooming (trim nails, wax, etc)
  • collect prescriptions
  • clear out old food from the fridge and take out the compost
  • work on my portfolio deck
  • draw out page templates for my website
  • listen to an audiobook
  • rejig my meal plan

First step, sit up in bed and take my blood sugar! Then I can get rolling on the other stuff. Have a good day everyone!

JingsMahBucket · 05/06/2025 07:52

Ugh. Just remembered there’s a whole bunch of laundry to fold and put away. Mostly sheets and towels.

Peridot1 · 05/06/2025 08:44

Morning all.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - you definitely deserved a croissant after the swimming registration! And an extra strong latte!

@WinterFrogs - one of the chests of drawers in my bedroom was very cluttered and I’ve been just moving a couple of things to where they should be bit by bit. And its definitely made a difference. I’m like you - procrastinate if I can’t do it perfectly. Which is why this thread has been so helpful over the years. Just doing one thing really helps.

Good list @JingsMahBucket. I must include grooming tasks in mine!

It is due to rain most of the day here so I think I’ll have a general house work day and then go for a walk this afternoon.

List:

  • laundry - first load in
  • dishwasher - empty and reload
  • clean fridge - it’s a bit smelly for some reason
  • check salt in water softener
  • change a bed
  • wash bedding
  • finish kitchen clean I started on Monday
  • put laundry away
  • finish clearing chest of drawers in my room
  • vacuum my bedroom

Have a good day all.

JingsMahBucket · 05/06/2025 11:23

That's a great list as well @Peridot1! Like you, I also procrastinate if I don't know where to start. Checking in with my tasks so far today:

  • personal grooming (trim nails, wax, etc) ✅ -- I feel so good afterward, especially having a nice hot shower. :)
  • clear out old food from the fridge and take out the compost ✅
  • made the bed ✅
  • filled up my prescription containers for the week. ✅
  • listen to an audiobook ✅
  • rejig my meal plan -- half ✅. I pulled out some ground beef from the freezer for tonight's dinner and thought of what to make.

I also added frozen almond croissants to our mid-June Tesco order. Y'all are a terribly bad-good influence! Alright, time for a late breakfast / brunch and then I'll start on my business/work tasks for the day. I'll tackle the laundry folding, collecting my prescriptions, and other stuff later this evening. Thank you so much for this thread everyone. ❤️ Have a lovely day!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 05/06/2025 11:38

Collecting prescriptions here as well.

No almond croissants for me though........... [muses there is a Costa almost next door to the pharmacy....... ]

Planted a rich burgundy coloured cosmos today as went to Aldi. Grin

Am about to make onion gravy because the awful weather makes me think of sausages and mash.

happy days everyone!
