Saw the news about the Liverpool incident. 😔

JingsMahBucket · 27/05/2025 21:48

@SpiritOfEdna good to hear you’re safe and sound. Hopefully all your friends and family are safe too x

Yesterday I was able to check the following off my list:

  • pay NYC bills ✅
  • buy a train ticket ✅
  • grocery shopping ✅
  • tallying monthly grocery spends ✅
  • more website copywriting ✅
  • listened to audiobook ✅

Today I had more home chores and my day consisted of:

  • hot towel and bathmat wash and tumble dried ✅
  • listened to audiobook ✅
  • emptied dishwasher ✅
  • stripped the bed and aerated it ✅
  • washed and dried the mattress cover ✅
  • Put new clean sheets on the bed ✅
  • sent out my newsletter ✅
  • wrote a post about it on LinkedIn ✅
  • client meeting ✅
  • found a part time job to apply to ✅
  • registered for a professional meet up ✅

I meant to get more website writing done but I wasn’t feeling it today. I’ll tackle more of it tomorrow / this week. Right, good night everyone! Time to snuggle down for the evening. 🛌

WinterFrogs · 28/05/2025 08:24

When are you off @SpiritOfEdna ?

Good jobs jobbed @JingsMahBucket!

I am living a new life, wfh at a computer. The work is not difficult, but getting my act together and organising my time, is! I can very busily procrastinate for Olympic gold.

Today, I am starting with a clear desk and a clear list. I am hoping to have achieved all that I must by lunchtime. Some of the challenges are around waiting for other people to do their bits. Familiar, no doubt, to those used to this game.

So, shower, dress- and at at!

Then I boldly anticipate doing something useful round the house after work. Possibly, a look at what is under the spare bed.

Love to you all 💐 ☕️

JingsMahBucket · 28/05/2025 09:30

Morning @WinterFrogs, you got this! Well done starting with a clear desk. I really need to clear some surfaces in the house but I may leave that until Saturday afternoon.

RunningKatie · 28/05/2025 09:40

Morning all, day off today, we've got a big afternoon out. I was off to the supermarket but dc2 has announced they are coming too. What a treat! I did explain it was a food shop not just snacks for half term!
Washing is out on the line, we currently have sunshine which is nice. Yesterday I was in two jumpers as it was so cold.
I am a olympic champion in procrastinating when I wfh @WinterFrogs but I also do things that I can focus on here and not in the office so it's swings and roundabouts.
I would love to win an hour of ironing @Peridot1 - what a fantastic prize.

SpiritOfEdna · 28/05/2025 11:45

@WinterFrogs end of August - 12 weeks this Friday.... And I have a new wordle streak - by the skin of my teeth it was on the 6th go today.

Today

  • general tidy about - moving stuff into their rightful places
  • busy work day - but must do prep for tomorrow's next round of interviews.....
  • I've got my fancy camera out, which I've never really used all of the features, so I am going to start learning how to use it properly and hopefully get some good photos. I may have an book on my kindle for it
  • floors are looking mucky
  • need to find debit card - it'll be in a pocket somewhere (I never learn..)
  • just made some carrot and lentil soup for lunch
  • gym session in a bit

Not a lot for today, have a good one, SoE

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 29/05/2025 20:16

I have achieved absolutely nothing these past few days 😭

Me and dd have popped out here and there. Spent all day indoors today. It's a boring half term for her 😔 i just feel exhausted.

Hopefully I'll take her to a museum tomorrow though. And clean the flat. Again.

My love to you affected by the incident in Liverpool ❤️

Hope you all have a lovely Friday and weekend xxx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/05/2025 21:02

Hi, all. 🩷 Busy week here. Re-started painting kitchen , managed wall behind fridge and bit above section of counter. General tidying/washing. Took my mum to ENT appt for her regular check re sinuses and hearing and ended up wi surprise biopsy to ear re a recurring cyst she has on. Updated her oncologist with that bit of news today and ordered her cancer meds to be refilled.
Put a tray of croissants in the oven and nursed baby. Felt like I was winning today. Realized I was late for dental appt which was for noon, not 1:30, called in and luckily they had room to switch me to 1. Now sitting in office waiting after driving part-wY then hopping the train. Hope everyone is having a good end of week. 😊

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 30/05/2025 06:16

Morning all.

Sorry for silence the past few days- just life has gotten in the way!

A new job @WinterFrogs ! I hope you enjoy it.

Great that you could switch your dentist appointment @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Not alot being achieved here either. Although yesterday I did review all of our prescriptions and realised that I needed to get a couple refilled. Otherwise I am just helping Ds1 prepare for his forthcoming Duke of Edinburgh expedition. I am only working one day next week which is good as i have alot to be getting on with and I have updated the temp agency about when I am available to take on more work.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

SpiritOfEdna · 30/05/2025 10:28

Morning, not much going on here - I am full of cold, can't taste - or smell -anything and have been in bed at 8:30 the last couple of nights. Thankfully, it's the weekend. PT & Pilates have been both out of the window this week #sad. Am hoping it is on its way out I don't want to waste the weekend!

Have a good one, SoE

WinterFrogs · 31/05/2025 08:31

Good morning all! Boo to the germs @SpiritOfEdna I hope the weekend helps.
Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans...or something? @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia Good on DC for doing DofE. And thank you re job. Not sure if I'm floundering or just have impostor syndrome at moment.
A quiet half term isn't such a bad thing @mumofoneAlonebutokay It sounds like you have dealt with a lot to get where you are now, so take your chance to rest 💐
@Mumtobabyhavoc I think you too are jam in a sandwich. I hope mum is feeling ok, and that the havocs are giving you a bit of peace!

My mum's memory is failing quite fast it seems, although we manage some great conversations. Her home does a lot of activities and they put pictures on their fb page, so I find out what she's been doing, and then we chat about it. She's clearly having a lovely time. On the other end of the spectrum, we are treated to a lot of nursery pictures of littlest, which come via her mum. The activities are often fairly similar... We show great granny the pictures of GC, and GC the pictures of GG, and it makes us all happy. Littlest is always a hit when she visits - it's lovely that the place welcomes whole families. We are very lucky!

Today 🤔

Set fair I think. Fifteen minute in each room. And then i need to sit with my audiobook, because listening in bed knocks me out in less than ten minutes- not that I'm complaining. Haven't slept so well in years!

Hello all just popping in to say hi, I have basically been in bed all week post op with poor DH doing everything. I managed to fold the laundry backlog and deploy the robot vacuum cleaners on Thursday. On Friday I was more ambitious, took the kids to school and did a bit of paid work but then had to go back to bed and resume being pathetic and playing sudoku.

on the plus side I have now moved onto Extreme in my sudoku game (this is its highest level unless you want to do 16x16 which is probably a step too far)

WinterFrogs · 31/05/2025 14:29

Hello @Aria999 I was wondering how you're doing! Pleased to hear DH is looking after you. I am impressed at your sudoku skill. I can only do the medium difficulty and down. Can't cope with putting the numbers in the corners as it melts my brain.
Nothing pathetic about giving yourself time to recover 💕

Best wishes to all! ☕️ 🍪

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 31/05/2025 14:41

Hope you're feeling better soon SoE and that you're healing well @Aria999

We've had a quiet half term too, dh has spent a lot of time helping his mum to sort everything and start probate etc.

Today it's dry so I've got 2 lots of washing out, and I've been weeding bits of the garden. About to take the dc out to a talk they want to go to then we're off to collect a tent. DH takes DC2 camping in the summer and they need more space! I do not camp, I stay at home with ddog and DC1 who likes a lot of sleep!

Aria999 · 31/05/2025 16:59

That sounds very difficult @WinterFrogs, I am heavily reliant on the little notes. I put them all on at the start then after that they are all I really look at!

I am with you on the Not Camping @RunningKatie, sounds like a good arrangement! I prefer my accommodation to have an en suite bathroom 😁

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/05/2025 17:43

Sorry you're sick SoE. I hope some rest helps. 💐
Did you find your card?
Glad you're on the mend Aria. Anytime I read about a robo vac I think of you and imagine them animated and deployed to battle dust in military fashion. Sudoku is last game of choice for me. 😂
Katie, not one to camp either. Dreading having to do it at some point.
Winter, yes, definitely sandwich gen. It's sounds so nice that you are all staying connected. 🩷

I have an over-flowing laundry basket and two loads to put away from 2 days ago. 🙄
Lots of rain today, so Havoc's sport was cancelled. I made us pancakes and had 2 lattes and am not motivated to do much else. I do need to do that laundry, though. Ugh.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/05/2025 19:31

Have now folded and put away the clean clothes and have got the kids clothes on to wash. I cleaned the kitchen from breakfast then tidied the hall closet by properly hanging up jackets and folding baby's snowsuit and rain suit which are now too small, so will need to wash those and put into my on-going donation box (which needs to be sorted). Am contemplating a Costco run, but it's Saturday and unless I'm desperate am not in the mood for the crowds. It's still raining.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/05/2025 19:50

And have done a niggling task: applied felt pads to bench and desk to prevent scuffing of floor. However, was putting desk back and nicked wall. Now have created a new task to fill the little hole, sand and paint over. 🤦‍♀️😵‍💫🤬

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 31/05/2025 23:07

Hey all 🙌

Managed to take dd to the transport museum yesterday. I was worried about getting her to the bus stop as shes so used the car - and was right to be worried, she cried the entire 5 min walk 😭

But once she was on the bus, and understood the promise of a cupcake, she was fine

I didnt realise that it was her first time on the underground without her buggy! She coped well, i didnt dare let go of her hand (packed a tether but didnt need to use it) and she had fun on the tube, munching her cupcake and looking at the trains whizz by. The cutie 🥰

The museum wasn't a hit, she was bored and the play area was for babies. We then went to the most overstimulating mcdonalds ever next to charing Cross

Omg it was packed and the ordering process is complicated with people shouting. Took us ages to finally sit down, by which point dd had reached her limit and didnt want her happy meal.

Anyway, we're home from another drive through central London to see London bridge (dd wasn't bothered and watched her tablet, eating another cupcake, but I had a lovely time, listening to the radio)

Tomorrow its:
Laundry (just whites)
Dd's hair
Prepping uniform
Deep cleaning my bedroom, changing the sheets etc

Hope you're all having a lovely Saturday night
❤️

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 31/05/2025 23:17

Thank you @WinterFrogs - its been hectic, looking forward to getting back into the routine tbh - must start planning the summer hols for her! Glad your mum is enjoying herself at her home, although I'm sorry to hear that her memory is fading 🥺. I love that you're keeping her updated on your newest addition though - a lovely reminder of all that shes given to the world x

@RunningKatie I hope you're keeping okay, with all that you've had on. Your comments re camping made me laugh, its something I just couldn't do! Give me a hotel anyday! x

Get well soon @SpiritOfEdna and @Aria999 ! x

@Mumtobabyhavoc you've been productive! I laughed at creating a new task when doing a task - happens to me all the time! x

@JingsMahBucket reading back reminds me ive got to clear the dining table, its covered in stuff I planned to 'put away later' 😅 x

Apologies all if my posts are long, I do tend to ramble 😅 xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/05/2025 23:32

I would've loved those outings @mumofoneAlonebutokay ! 😊

Last night I got dc ready for bed into pj's and everything, grabbed a couple little blankets for them, popped on their rainboots (easy on/off strategy) then took them for a drive around the city. We ended up over Burrard Br. and Havoc asked about the Planetarium 🙄 but I compromised and took them into the observatory to check out the telescope. 🤗

Pics: Sunset beach looking to Vanier park
telescope
looking to West End (and W Van behind that) from garden rooftop of Vancouver Archives beside observatory. Tents are for the Bard on the Beach productions

Wow @Mumtobabyhavoclovely pics. You have so much initiative! Most I normally manage at bedtime is a story and encouraging them to play with their magnatiles...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/06/2025 01:35

Aria, when I'm up to it, it's better than fighting to get them to sleep. I enjoy a drive around as well. 😊
Watching planes at the airport is another one.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 01/06/2025 08:14

Morning all. Waves to everyone.

I remeber the days of trying to have a Nice Day Out and it all being a bit too much @mumofoneAlonebutokay ! But what amazing opportunities you are giving your DD! I recall being bemused when DS1 was about 4 and he was freaked out by the whole concept of an escalator when we went to London and used the tube until I realised he had never actually been on an escalator before!! (we live in a village/almost a town but quite rurally).

Yesterday I watered half the garden and today will water the other half. I realised that watering was a bit daunting for me so have broken it up into bite sized chunks. I have also decided that every time I go grocery shopping I will buy a little supermarket plant (for £1.89 thank you Mr Aldi!) and plonk them down in a bare patch and see what happens.

Today is getting ready for the week ahead and I have a yen for a proper roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings for dinner.

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Thanks

WinterFrogs · 01/06/2025 08:45

Hello everyone! Thinking of you and yours @RunningKatie You really do have such a lot on. How is everyone holding up? 💐

We have a campsite off the lane where I help with the horses. On a sunny morning I can see the allure of an overnight stay and an al fresco breakfast. Further along they have woodland with converted shepherd's huts, and theoretically see the appeal, except...spiders. There are bound to be spiders!

@Aria999 how goes it today? Easing a bit? 🙏 I think there are worse things in life than my ineptitude with sudoku- it's taken me ten years of doing it daily to get where I am 😆 In another ten years I might manage the harder ones and utilise the auto candidate mode ( or scribble in the corners like DH does)

What lovely pictures @Mumtobabyhavoc! A great adventure for the little ones in an evening. Were they asleep when you got back? At one point I took my then one year old DS to the farm where I'd work in the evenings, and he'd nod off in the pram. By the time I had three it was more like Aria's story and magnetic tiles. In our case, they could have a pile of books to read as long as they liked, as long as they stayed quiet and in bed. DGC has a story then settles down to an audiobook and a gradually fading nightlight.

I like the long chatty posts @mumofoneAlonebutokay 💕 Like @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia I clearly remember the not so successful outings. There was always someone who was overwhelmed or unhappy with the choices or loudly complaining about not getting an ice cream! My happiest memories are simple ones too, like them all piling into our big bed in the morning, and singing nursery rhymes and reading stories and drawing. Honestly, I would be put right off my happy meal if MacD was as you describe!

How did you get on with the desk clearing @JingsMahBucket ? I get very flummoxed when my work space is messy so today I intend to get 'Monday morning ready' and have a clear space and an orderly, tickable list.

Lobelia you do inspire me about the garden and plants.
There's a thread somewhere about a poster's husband who is unhappy about her getting someone in to cut down overgrown garden because of bee welfare. Obviously other issues there...but, I am a bit the same, so the thread was very helpful to me as there were suggestions for insect friendly plants. Some good links too. We haven't mown the lawn this month ( no mow May) but it does need to be done now.

@Peridot1 and @petalpower @SpiritOfEdna 👋

I hope you are all having a good weekend 💕
