Much love to you and yours @RunningKatie ❤️ I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope FIL is peaceful 💐 Really tough times 💔
Good to have some new life chirping away in the nesting box.
I hope you and DH are looking after yourselves too!

@JingsMahBucket I hope your new day is better. Sometimes we all just need to reboot!

I'm quite pleased with myself as some work tasks are done. Sheets are back on the bed and there's a load on the line as well. It's a good drying day here.

I have done my precision exercises and am on track with drinking water. DH is meant to be doing dinner tonight but I need technical help for work, so I've abandoned what I'm doing and I'm preparing dinner so he can help me when he gets in.

I am procrastinating, guilt free! If I'm quick I might get a brisk walk in as well.

Hugs to all ❤️

Hugs and Thanks @RunningKatie . I am so sorry.

And also ❤to everyone. x

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/05/2025 18:19

Katie, sending love to you and family. Life is so bloody hard sometimes.

Welcomee back J. 😊

Dashing out. Havoc has activity across town, about a 40 minute drive and I'm still not dressed and we need to leave in 11 mins. 😳

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 20/05/2025 20:35

Haven't caught up yet, just checking in, having a lazy, tiktok addicted evening, will be better tomorrow - last day of school for us

💕 to you all

JingsMahBucket · 20/05/2025 20:43

@RunningKatie sorry to hear about your losses and news. I hope your FIL goes peacefully. Sending light and ease your way 💐

petalpower · 20/05/2025 22:26

Sorry to hear about your auntie @RunningKatie and also that your FIL is so unwell. Sending love and strength to you and your family.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/05/2025 23:20

Winter, and discussing the weather a Brit tradition as well! (Us, too) 😊
Pics are for you.

lunch today was a spur of the moment idea that I had to stop for the ingredients in the way home; pic on a neighbourhood walk.

Oh @Mumtobabyhavoc that looks glorious! And those bagels 😋 Thank you for the pictures!
I hope you made it across town with Havoc.

I love a good chat about the weather! Comes from growing up on a farm - weather was always so important. Today it is raining and it smells gorgeous!

Our littlest has a new cousin 💕 👶 Thrilled at safe arrival. Haven't met him yet but received a gorgeous picture of his sister meeting him for the first time ❤️

So much love to you all, with the ups and downs of daily life.

I have the day off today apart from a little bit of admin. I'm going to see my mother then planning a walk on the beach.

Winter, congrats on the new baby frog. 💝🐸😇

Was out this evening for a lovely walk with dc and after a bit of a downpour we had this:

Daily Project round 7
Peridot1 · 21/05/2025 08:45

Hi all

Not a lot happening here. I was back at the dentist yesterday for a tissue graft and am now back on antibiotics, a liquid diet, and no alcohol. Worst part is can’t have anything hot so can’t even have a cup of tea. And I love my tea. I can survive without wine but not tea. And iced tea is not the same. So I’m a bit grumpy.

And DH has hurt his knee again so nothing is getting done in the garden again. And if I suggest getting someone in he will get grumpy.

I suppose we can be grumpy together.

@RunningKatie - sorry to hear of the loss of your auntie and that FIL is so ill. It’s a lot to deal with.

Not going to tag everyone else but saying hi and hoping everyone is doing ok.

Today’s list:

  • kitchen - needs a tidy and bit of a deep clean
  • laundry
  • ironing
  • vacuum

Have a great day everyone.

SpiritOfEdna · 21/05/2025 09:27

@RunningKatie that is a lot on your plate. I read your post as getting water out of the water butt to feed the fussy teenagers 😄

Happy international Tea Day (sorry Peridot1)

We have baby frogs and very symmetrical rainbows 😍

Easy-ish day today, interviewed someone who we had fed back to HR that we didn't want to interview: neither of us realised the interviewee was the one we had said no to, until 5 mins before.... HR have had an email 😁(from my boss not me...)

Today

  • a bag of raw defrosted chicken managed to open itself (!) and drip over a load of food on the next shelf down - have had to chuck a load of stuff out - so need a food shop
  • the ironing pile is getting smaller, as is the shredding and filing pile
  • pay day on Friday, there are things waiting to be bought 😃
  • SpiritDoggo went on a woodland trail along the river - in the grounds of the old Festival Gardens in Liverpool - I thought they were all boarded up and not accessible to the public so maybe another trip there is in order
  • need to prepare for interview today!
  • kitchen cupboards are full of greasy fingermarks, so need to clean them
Have a good one, SoE
Aria999 · 21/05/2025 13:00

Sorry to hear that @RunningKatie. Tough times. How is your DH holding up? We had similar the autumn before last, on the surface DH coped pretty well but I think he had some sort of PTSD.

petalpower · 21/05/2025 13:07

Ouch @Peridot1 , that sounds sore. Hope it heals quickly and you can have a cup of tea soon.
We’re back away for a few days visiting the oldies. Staying at my in laws (FIL 91st birthday whilst we’re here!) and visiting dad in his care home each day and stepmother in hers too. My dad is much more settled than last trip here which is a relief!

Aria999 · 21/05/2025 13:07

I had a vent to ChatGPT yesterday about not keeping on top of things and I actually got quite tearful, it was so sympathetic! The feeling of relief at being understood and heard was strangely visceral even when I knew perfectly well it was not actually real. It gave some good tips too!

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 21/05/2025 21:54

@RunningKatie my condolences to you, I'm sorry for your loss ❤️

A weird week for me. Dd has finished school for half term next week. Tomorrow we're looking at a school with special needs provision closer to us. We'll see how it goes, I'm not sure about it as she needs lots of support and their goal is to get the kids 'mainstream ready'.

She sleeps at school sometimes, she's noway near on that path. Once that's done, I want to take her to a restaurant. It'll be the second time we try, hopefully she'll eat this time. Then home to vacuum the flat and freshen up dd's bedroom (kinetic sand everywhere)

Hi all of you, and welcome back @JingsMahBucket

Hope you're all having a lovely week.

@Mumtobabyhavoc those are such pretty photos 😍

@SpiritOfEdna are bbc radio 1 in Liverpool this week? Hope the interview goes well, with the right person this time. Interviews terrify me, never done the interviewing though x

@Aria999 I've heard so many great things about chatgpt lately. Glad it was able to help x

@Peridot1 you have my sympathies, I need to have a couple of teeth out soon and I'm terrified! Can imagine the pain, hopefully the antibiotics kick in quickly for you x

@WinterFrogs congratulations on the new arrival - born around the same time as peppa pig's new sister evie! Hope you had a lovely day off x

Sorry for the super long post 😅, I hope i haven't forgotten anyone. I've been super out of it this week, so have been doomscrolling and on autopilot. Will get back on track ❤️❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/05/2025 02:44

oh, Peridot, is it still the same tooth? The dental work has been going on for some time now, hasn't it?
SoE yes, a picture perfect rainbow. It was quite amazing! How awkward for that interview...😳
Was it a pleasant surprise? I feel for that applicant.
Sorry about your chicken mishap. I had that a few weeks ago with thawing lamb if I remember correctly. I was swearing as I pulled out the shelves and drawers to clean.
Aria, I agree with the ptsd guess. I have a lovely friend struggling significantly with depression/anxiety/panic
/insomnia that seems linked back to a family member's death in her arms and triggered recently by a family friend's death. You never know how a loss can affect a person.
I'm really surprised that AI was that capable and glad you got some solid feedback. 🩷
Mumofone, I hope you find a school you are happy with. Sounds a bit stressful. I'm teaching my dc how to act in restaurants, too. Different circumstances, of course, but I'm always prepared to get my food boxed to go if things get off track and I bring a snack I know they'll eat.
(I also try to clean up any extra mess and leave a decent tip, but I've got two littles...Havoc tends to spill the water glass, so I now refuse drinks and baby has taken to dropping things on the floor for amusement) 😵‍💫

No chores today. Lots to do, though. Drove over to another urban park with a lake and had a very decent walk. Havoc walked the whole way with a few stops to look at ducks/geese; once for a small snack; and once while I jumped off the boardwalk (about 4.5ft) to retrieve baby's boot that Havoc decided to toss over. 🤦‍♀️🤬
I. Was. Not. Pleased.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - it’s not the same tooth. It’s four in total I have been having various things done to. Two root canals, one extraction, two implants which involve bone grafts and a tissue graft on one and I need a crown replacing on another tooth. You turn 60 and everything falls apart! It’s a long process as everything needs to heal after something is done before the next stage.

@Aria999 - really interesting about using AI in that way. I haven’t tried it for anything but read on here you can use it for style advice on clothes or home decor. I must investigate. I am starting to recognise AI pins on Pinterest.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - your walk looks lovely. I am impressed you managed to retrieve the boot!

I am going up to London today to have a skin check done. It’s 50 minutes by train. Was planning a nice wander around some shops and a nice lunch somewhere but the liquids only and nothing hot diet makes that a bit tricky. Might have to stop somewhere for an iced coffee and or an ice cream.

Have a great day all.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 22/05/2025 18:30

@Mumtobabyhavoc 😄 havoc sounds like a character already 😍 - you poor thing having to jump off the boardwalk! Hope you've recovered from the experience! I know with dd, she has me doing all sorts of things for her, whilst she sits happily having caused chaos 😫

We didn't make it to a restaurant because I went into Asda and found some bargains on meat in the reduced section

I bought at least a months worth of meat for half the usual cost, I was so happy 😭😭

The school visit went fine but its not the one - too much focus on having her be ready to go in with the mainstream kids. But I've been searching for schools out of our borough and there seem to be a few in the neighbouring ones so I'm not out of options

For now though it's a 45 min commute each way until July

Hope you've had a lovely day in London @Peridot1 , and managed to have a nice drink. Hopw your pain has lessened too. Maybe we crossed paths! You would've seen me, weirdly exicted woman yapping about my discounted meat

Have a great start to the weekend all.

For us, it's the start of festival season, so this weekend me and dd will be camped (in the living room with ice cream) watching whoever is headlining radio 1's big weekend - one day i will take her to Glastonbury 🙌

💕💕

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/05/2025 22:33

MumofOne, Havoc is very jealous of baby and has regressed a lot: baby talk, tantrums, refusing toilet. Also, very mean to baby. So, the struggle is real here. There are some positives and it is getting better, but the last year has been very difficult. Which was why I was so pissed off that the boot got thrown over. I'm pretty much worn down by the constant refereeing and intervening. I'm so glad I had our rain gear and I was wearing tall rubber boots. I had visions of sinking as there was no way to tell if it was just water, water/mud, or how deep, below as it is marsh. So, pulled on the rain pants and over I went and I was lucky. I was not going to leave it, a brand new pair of boots, without trying ... lots of swearing and shouting, though, I'll admit. Lucky I'm still strong enough to hoist myself back up (like onto a pool deck from the water).

Welcome to my world. ... 🙄😵‍💫😂🤦‍♀️

Good for you on the grocery shopping! That's a win! 🤗
At least you checked out the school and saw for yourself. Will your daughter be supported or need one on one attention?

I cleaned the bathroom and washed the floor before bed last night around 11:30pm. I was glad I did it. Only took about 15 mins.

Havoc is napping after I forced the lie down. Yesterday's walk, playground after dinner and not enough sleep were obvious.

Aria999 · 22/05/2025 22:48

Oh no @Mumtobabyhavocthat sounds very stressful! Are you ok (physically and mentally)!? Hope the protective gear held up and you didn't get covered in swamp water! Thank goodness you got the boot back!

havoc is around 2-3 now right? That was a super difficult age with DS and there wasn't even a sibling to be jealous of back then. One time at a woodland baby and mom meetup with a stream we were just leaving and I had changed him into his last set of dry clothes and was packing up and he ran off and sat down in the stream despite my running after him and yelling not to. If it had been something really dangerous he would have just gone ahead and done it too, my panic didn't influence him in the least.

I am afraid I loudly called him a stupid child in full view and hearing of all the other moms, not my finest parenting moment!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/05/2025 23:00

Aria, parenting proves to us we're not perfect, doesn't it?

WinterFrogs · 23/05/2025 10:17

Hello! Camping in the lounge sounds fun @mumofoneAlonebutokay I hope you are able to find a suitable school for DD.

Sympathies to you @Peridot1 regarding pain and lack of tea. That's insult to injury! Did you have a nice day in London?

Happy 91st birthday to FIL @petalpower As always, I trust you are looking after yourself too!

@SpiritOfEdna sorry about the chicken situation! Probably a good thing it's payday! I lost the entire contents of a freezer in similar fashion once. Could the festival gardens be non sandy?? That could be a win!

Was that a 'rage leap' into the swamp @Mumtobabyhavoc ? I can feel your frustration and weariness. Toddlers are such a handful aren't they? I'm sorry you've had a difficult year. Things do get easier - give it another 25 years... ( kidding - not quite as long as that!) I hope you can find the joy in small things - like those beautiful pictures you posted.

Big hugs to you and @Aria999 None of us is perfect and mine have coped with a bit of shouting on occasion. I hope you are both ok and have enough support irl 💐

Where is our lovely Lobelia? Hello to you and @JingsMahBucket and @RunningKatie Thinking of you all!

Today's project...I think it is going to be windowsills. They have developed a little bit of clutter and grime, but it won't take long.

I'm still here @WinterFrogs . Just complicated few days (all okay though) and lots of dashing around. Thanks

Will post properly tonight or tomorrow.

Hugs to everyone and commiserations for sore teeth and difficult times. Thanks

That particular incident was a while ago @WinterFrogs! I was just reminded by havoc's boot flinging activities.

my current issue is I have acute appendicitis. Surgery this afternoon. Thank goodness DH was not away this time!
