Thanks to @JoshLymanSwagger for the thread title.

Trump, Vance and Musk are building a bigly bridge across the Bering Strait...
...and creating a gaping chasm in the Atlantic.

Kind hearts are more than coronets, and simple faith than Norman blood.

Forget fentanyl lads! Eggs are the drug of choice now.

U.S. is busting more people with prohibited eggs at the Canadian border
The Detroit-Windsor crossing, for instance, witnessed a 36% increase in 'interceptions of eggs' between Oct. 2024 and Feb. 2025

I was saying this in work today, when trying to lead someone into hell, you don't tell them where they are going. You take them by the hand and move one small step at a time, until the steps get bigger and the pace gets faster.

I agree. Scrotus will do nothing without Vlad's approval.

I understand why Zelenskyy made his 'apology' with his fingers crossed behind his back. Sometimes you have to swallow the nasty medicine to try to end the 'disease'. He's not a foolish man and he loves his country (unlike Scrotus/Vance). His pride plays no part in this (again, unlike Scrotus/Vance). I think Zelenskyy simply wants to get back to the bargaining table, for the good of the Ukrainian people.

I will hate to see it, hate to see Scrotus crow about another 'win'. But I will understand.

Totally agree. And we know. We saw it. He has no choice but no one owns his private thoughts and what he really thinks and feels. That is all his own. And the world is with him except those POS in the WH and of course Putin

Trump is mean and dumb
Vance is mean and smart
Pray that nothing happens to Trump
unless it happens to both of them.

Vance isn't very popular though in America is he? He doesn't have Trump's popularity so I don't really see him being president ever. I may if course be wrong...

But in the USA, if something happened to Trump, Vance would become President. And you don't need to hold a new election until the next time it's supposed to take place.

If Trump was struck by lightning on the golf course tomorrow
Vance would automatically become President until January 2029

Vance, eurgh, I just can't put into words what I think of the odious little creep.

We all joke about invoking the 25th amendment but facts are if they get rid of Trump we get President Vance. Talk about would you like a shit on toast or shit on a bagel?!

Is Mike Johnson just as bad?! I don't know enough about him but as he's next in line after the VP...

Mike Johnson is an absolute nutter and Religious extremist

He and his teenage son also monitor each other’s porn use. Mike Johnson Said He and His Son Monitor Each Other’s Porn Usage, and Yeah, It’s Exactly as Weird as It Sounds

Assuming of course that we have a 'normal' election in 2028, Vance as the incumbent VP will be the 'natural' candidate for POTUS unless he or his boss fuck up in a major way in the next four years. I mean fuck up as in completely alienate the party, which at this point doesn't seem remotely possible.

I honestly can't think of an incumbent VP who didn't run for POTUS when their term as VP was up. The vast majority of them got the nomination, too. I can only think of Quayle and Pence who didn't get the nom. Maybe Humphrey, too?

Sigh. If so, what was the point? Did he think that Canada was going to bend over and say "Thank you sir, may I have another?". Or was it to rile everyone up then 'magnanimously save' the economies of Canada and Mexico?

Or perhaps the tanking of the Market actually made Scrotus a bit nervous?

Or it gave his friends just enough time to make a quick illegal $$

I think he honestly thinks other countries, leaders, presidents, whoever..will just roll over and accept anything
All of this has been in the planning since he walked out the WH last time aided by the nutjobs behind Project 2025. He is their stupid idiot and so puffed up with his own self-importance that he can't see or imagine that other countries are going to stand up for themselves.
Trudeau is not giving an inch, good on him.

I honestly think the wheels are going to come off the bus fairly rapidly and there's going to be a lot of scrabbling around and fire fighting when it all goes tits up.

I’m inclined to agree, remember we’re only what, 6 weeks in? Fuck me how is it so little time!? Think of the fucking mess in 4 years.

Six weeks and there has been disaster after disaster.
Firing the wrong people, having to rehire, prises rising, uncertainty everywhere and the world apart from Russia looked at the POTUS and his VP with absolute disdain at how they treated the president of a country that has been invaded by an aggressor
It will never be forgotten

Ok folks, checking in on the new thread. I know you lot are a level headed bunch. If you had options to leave the US (blue state) would you, and when?

BIossomtoes · 04/03/2025 22:27

It’s going to take years and a couple of very serious presidents for the US to start regaining its credibility after this.

I’m honestly not sure it will ever recover to look like it did before. Something new might rise from the ashes but it will burn first.

In 2 months time, it's the anniversary of the end of WW2 in Europe, when the US and its Allies, including Russia fought against Nazi Germany - it will be interesting to hear what speeches are made then because there will be commemoration events - and who is invited.

It will also be 80 years since the end of WW2 and the fighting against Japan - when the US was attacked and it fought with Allies against Japan.

The US is losing the support of the people who live in the West. It may not be losing the support of the politicians in power, but it is sure as hell losing support amongst the general populations of these countries - who were once Allies.

And that doesn't seem to worry many US politicians.

It’s looking likely that Trump will ‘celebrate’ with Russia on Red Square on 09 May at their victory parade. It’s shameful.

I’m off to bed, I will catch up on the debacle that the “Not The State of the Union” will no doubt be in the morning. That is if Donny doesn’t turn it into one of his rallies, turn up late then ramble on for 5 hours, in which case he’ll still be going when I wake up.

Ok folks, checking in on the new thread. I know you lot are a level headed bunch. If you had options to leave the US (blue state) would you, and when?

DH is US citizen and came to the UK as an adult on a work permit through a US company with offices in Europe. He has UK citizenship as well now (has for some years). Discussing what's happening in the US we both agreed that if we had made our family life in the US but also had an alternative country to go to (which we would have) we would definitely leave the US now. But we are obviously looking at the situation through UK eyes.

A couple of the younger members of DH's family in the US are exploring Canadian and possibly Irish routes to leave. They have a 5 year old child and can't see how she can have a good upbringing/schooling even in the blue-ish state that they currently live in. They have jobs that are potentially transferable/needed in other places but that all takes time to organise so doubtful it will happen this year.

Where are you thinking of going to @Dariendreamer ?
