On a separate note, one of my favourite brands of gluten free foods is Canadian. No amount of tariffs will keep me away!

I'm in a solid blue state with a strong governor. The state has the 5th largest economy in the world. As it stands, I think my state will be OK as far as that can be said.

But that doesn't mean it isn't scary. I fear for my Country and my fellow citizens. And worried that at some point peaceful protests will end up in a violent Federal response.

We're going to be vacationing in a couple of solid red states and we plan to keep a very low profile.

I will say that at least where I am, you don't see a lot of pro-Scrotus rallies or flag waving trucks. Or 'honk if you love Trump' people at intersections. I'm trying to see that as a bit positive.

I'm now beginning to fear for my financial security too. Something I wasn't too worried about a month ago.

I'm only half teasing @GildedRage about showing up on her (or his) doorstep.

There is a school of thought that he wants to tank the economy. When there are strikes , shortages and riots he can declare Martial Law and not have to worry about elections. He will blame ' bad people ' or Joe Biden or immigrants or whoever.
Failing that he has off the scale voter suppression going on anyway. President Vance might be no improvement.

I think it’s pretty obvious that President Vance would be even worse.

He's already claiming that the angry residents turning up to town hall meetings are...Democrats In Disguise.

I hope karma comes back for every last one of them. I wouldn’t usually be so malicious but their desire to dance to the Village People and get a hamburger for $1 means the people of Ukraine have been thrown to the wolves.

I was reading about normalcy bias. How people act as though things are "normal" and don't react until it's too late. An example was a plane crash and many people didn't react to escape - but those who had experience in certain situations did react. Same with Covid - the signs were there but people didn't react.

This is not normal. If I lived in the States, I would be thinking about which State I was living in - or maybe going somewhere else if need be.

And European Allies need to think a lot about their relationship with the US and they need to think strongly about their defence. And make their own weapons.

Pray that nothing happens to Trump

So GOP are trying to massage the optics again. Dems should stand up and walk out - nothing to be gained by staying and listening.
