@Deathraystare, so sorry to hear about your troubles. It seems very unfair to have fired you for that. Can you get housing or other benefits?

Welcome, @MaryTheTurtle, and thanks for sharing your news. If you have a cat, they probably took the plug and hid it.

toddlers do it too. 😊

bizzey · 11/06/2025 06:16

Morning 🌅 🌅 !!
5 weeks today eek !!

I feel I am going to have to bore you lovely people with my my excited, overwhelming, fearful feelings to get m through it !!

😂😂

MyrtleLion · 11/06/2025 12:10

On my way home from the Canaries. Currently drinking cava in the airport lounge. There are worse ways to wait for a plane.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/06/2025 16:29

Myrtle, gotta squeeze every last ounce outta that holiday! 😁

Plan is to get breakfast done, dc dressed and out the door for school within the next 31 mins. 😵‍💫

Deathraystare · 11/06/2025 17:41

Thanks @bizzey @Mumtobabyhavoc @sproutsandparsnips

Cheered me up a. bit. Went to ;look at a room. Took ages to find though on the map could not be nearer the train station! I was on time. The letting bloke wasn't. As usual croqwd of other people for the same room (well, 2 rooms). Looked nice own sjopwer and toilet. He rushed us so much I couldnot see a kitchen.

I got lost looking for thenext place. Very hot, tired, wanted a wee. Decided in the end toleave it.

My housing person has not answered any of my emails. She still has an I am on leave message on her emails though she was back today.

I dunno.

Still I applied for 10 jobs yestewrday which should keep Universal Credit happy!

Umanresources · 11/06/2025 20:10

Oh @Deathraystare you are having such a hard time, I can’t imagine what you are going through. I’m so sorry that you lost your job. You would think people would have more compassion. I hope you find something soon. Surely out of 10 you must get an interview at least. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.

My grandson video chatted with me yesterday. He’s 9, 10 in a few weeks and he was very insistent that we should have a long chat. In fact by the time we said goodbye we’d been talking for almost 2 and a half hours! My daughter is over there at the moment and he had used her phone - with her permission. The boys will be over here in 3 weeks time and I’m so excited. We were discussing what we were going to do when they get here. I have 3 huge storage boxes with new toys, activities and games for them. They will also be here this Christmas too, so things will get saved till then as well. I’m hoping the weather will stay fine, so we can get the paddling pool out - in July, not December!

I got myself a Dr Ho’s motionciser, after seeing it advertised on television, as a help for arthritis and swollen feet. I’ve used it 3 times and so far it’s feeling good. It’s like a walking and circulation machine for people with mobility issues. I love it and hopefully it’s doing me good.

I'm just waiting for my sushi to be delivered. It’s freshly made and tonight I’m on my own, so it saves me trying to cook anything. The weather has been gorgeous today and I’ve had doors and windows open and a fan on. Son has sent a pic of him and his sister wrapped in blankets and drinking wine. It’s colder in Portugal than here today!

Deathraystare · 12/06/2025 09:23

@Umanresources

Thank you!

How nuce to have a long, lovely chat with your Grandson!

That motionciser sounds interesting.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2025 00:20

Just sitting in emerg with baby who fell on a cup and split chin open. 😭😭😭

bizzey · 13/06/2025 01:27

Noooo 😲😲😲!!

Ohh poor baby x
Hope you are being seen to and it is not too serious xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2025 03:06

Thanks @bizzey glue and steri strips then covered with a bandage. In and out in under 3 hours. Parked at 3:02p and was walking out at 5:48p. Not bad. 😅

mathanxiety · 13/06/2025 03:30

Deathray I sincerely hope things start looking up for you soon.

havoc very scary - hope all is well and baby is on the mend.

We've had a taste of hot summer weather - 90F yesterday. Today felt nicer. Tomorrow will be pleasant. I bought some annuals for my deck - moss roses and petunias - and will pot them tomorrow evening. Hoping the squirrels will leave them alone.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2025 15:52

I just noticed our thread has 936 posts. So much has happened!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/06/2025 00:51

Okay friends, I'm waiting for you to drop by:
pesto, crab, rocket, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes and a mix of 3 cheeses.

Ohh yum @Mumtobabyhavochow I wish I could!
watching the birds on the feeder - a big fat pigeon is sitting on the tray and hogging it Angry
DSs still revising, the end is in sight though!
I’ve just done my final run of week 5 C25K, feeling ok but not sure I’ll ever manage 30 mins of running!

MissConductUS · 14/06/2025 18:25

Havoc, how's the baby doing?

Math, we have squirrels aplenty here, and I've never seen them bother my plants. They will go after the birdfeeder, though. I love petunias and will have to get some from the garden center for the deck.

Tomorrow is Father's Day in the U.S., so DH has bought live lobsters for a special dinner treat. DS advocated quite hard for this. The supermarket had them on offer for $9.99 per pound for the larger ones, which is a very good price. It's raining here today, so we'll have the lobsters tonight and cook out tomorrow.

I saw a huge turtle in the reservoir yesterday.

Miss, baby is in good spirits, but does touch chin saying, Owie. 😢
Hi, Turtles! 🤩

Pancakes are almost ready! Stop by if you are around. 😊

bizzey · 15/06/2025 01:14

Fun new fact I learnt today !
( Might be obvious to some ...but has blown my mind 😀😀)

Dogs have different blood types and dogs can give blood 5 /6 (?) times a year if they meet with the requirements !

They have to be 6 years old or more ...
So I presume that's our 18 plus stipulation!

Ie fully matured adult .

I suppose it is the same for cats as well ?? 🤔

Edited to add the age ... otherwise it did not make any sense ....but then none of my posts do !! 🤣🤣

Feralbutcute · 17/02/2025 15:27

I have sugar soaped all the skirting boards in the hall, ready for painting, and cleaned the washing machine of mould , v satisfying but have used up lots of spoons.

Pace yourself. ☺️

I have bought a little hand held fan !

Very compact , but it is foldable and a bit awkward to open 😔.

Tried it out and feels good.

We have got one serious heat next week so it will get a good testing then 🤣.

I have bought a different style to come tomorrow to compare .

I am worried, that with hot sweaty fingers it is going to be a problem to flip one while on holiday which is the whole purpose of the fan 🤣.

bizzey · 15/06/2025 23:35

I have worked out why I am a bit stressed about this holiday, and the heat and clothes and stuff........

I have not been to a hot place abroad for 10 years !!

We went to Rome 8 years ago , but that does not count as we had a surprise Beast from the East that I had to actually buy a warmer jacket hole there !!!!

And Dublin doesn't count as it is home from home really !!

bizzey · 15/06/2025 23:42

(sorry to be typing this way !!
I always lose my long posts 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️)

I have my one and only dress to take with me .

Needs taking up.

Repair man at the launderette will charge £30 .
Double the price of the dress 😲😲.

So I have got some wonder tape and gonna go for it !

It will always be used as a casual/garden /where no one sees me sort of dress anyway .

But it is a dress ....which is a massive thing for me , even with just the one leg done !!

2 nd leg appointment came through for while we were away !

So it is the week after we come back .

Paperweight7 · 15/06/2025 23:45

Just lying down at night feeling happy and proud of my dc. It's late and I have work tomorrow but I just want to think happy thoughts a little longer. I want another cup of tea, but don't want to go downstairs to make it.

bizzey · 15/06/2025 23:52

Ohh hello @Paperweight7 ..what a lovely feeling to have just before sleep ...
Not the wanting of a cuppa though!

Wide-brimmed hat / umbrella?
I used an umbrella in Asia a few summers ago. It was a life-saver.
