What luxuries do you buy for yourself?

What kinds of things do you spend your disposable income on just for yourself? For me its fancy skincare, good warm socks, nice loose leaf tea. quality chocolate and books. I will also splash out a bit on cultural things like the theatre, concerts and exhibitions if there is anything on I want to see but its not a regular spend.

What about you?

Contemporary silver jewellery. Mostly necklaces, but I prodded my ear piercings through again a few months ago and am building up a collection of earring too.

kerstina · 01/02/2025 19:23

Chocolate,cult beauty boxes or similar.

Favouritefruits · 01/02/2025 19:23

Interactive cat toys, it seems like it’s a treat for the cats but it’s a huge treat for me as they will then leave me alone for half an hour !

An extremely expensive diary every year.
Best seats at the theatre, as I know from experience that if I buy cheaper ones I'll ruin my own experience by spending the whole time wishing I was in a different seat.
Organic food
Hot yoga membership

Each to their own 😂 me buying fancy mushrooms or the higher end olives I guess is equivalent for me😂

AuntieMarys · 01/02/2025 19:27

Lots. About £50 on books a month. Good food.
Anything that makes me feel better....facials, massages, regular haircuts, coffees/ lunches out. Not interested in clothes.

Parker231 · 01/02/2025 19:27

PT sessions each week
Business class flights (although reward miles covers many of the flights)
Cleaner
Second home in France

hjfoau · 01/02/2025 19:27

Botox, nails, massages, Lush bath stuff, good wine and chocolate.

The one thing I would treat myself with if there was an option in my area would be a more luxurious gym membership, we only have the local gov one here and whilst the classes are good the facilities are a bit grim! I dream of being able to attend a posh hotel gym and pool!

spacepies · 01/02/2025 19:29

Holidays as many as i can.
So far 5 for this year.

SaturdayKitchenSally · 01/02/2025 19:30

Lovely skincare, hair products and body scrub. Trudon candles, lovely teas, Falke tights. Books from a local bookshop rather than Amazon - two a month. Obviously they’re the same books lol, I’d just rather pay £3-4 more to keep the bookshop on my local high st.

I have got enough ‘stuff’ in my life so I only buy things I use these days.

Good quality olives 'sounds' correct. There's nothing wrong with kippers, it's the most beautifully unexpected answer.

PermanentTemporary · 01/02/2025 19:35

So many. I indulge myself every day.

Mumsnet premium
Spotify
Getting my hair coloured really well twice a year, and cut 4 x a year
Lots and lots of fresh fruit and veg
A cleaner
A gardener
Books from bookshops
Opera, concerts, theatre, exhibitions and gigs
Massage
Weight loss injections
Osteopathy

Dp indulges himself with ALL the TV streaming services and I benefit as well, but if he didn't live with me I wouldn't bother with any of them. Likewise with holidays I think - if we weren't going together I probably wouldn't travel much at all.

VioletCharlotte · 01/02/2025 19:35

Membership to a reformer plays studio. Hideously expensive but I justify it by telling myself it's helping my back so Im saving on physio.

I also splash out on hood skincare products.

hopeishere · 01/02/2025 19:36

Candles and flowers mainly!

frozendaisy · 01/02/2025 19:36

Just for me, because I class holidays as all of us, days out. With a friend or two or solo, usually to and art gallery, and anything I fancy that day which is usually tea/cake in a people watching window).

NippyNinjaCrab · 01/02/2025 19:37

Ooohhh where do i start 🤔

My monthly treats for me are skincare, I love a wee lip gloss here and there and expensive hair products. I love Forest Feast dark chocolate almonds and nice dark chocolate for food treats. I also like buying bedding, and throws 😂 books too.
If I had more disposable income I would add regular facials and a massage monthly. I always make sure I budget my cut and colour and biab into my spreadsheet. These are essential to me to make me feel good.
Oh and a monthly beauty box.
I spend a LOT of money on my dogs, I love to see them happy with new toys and puzzle games, a wee coat here and there is for my benefit though 😀

ThatUniqueKoala · 01/02/2025 19:38

Similar to you, skincare and books.

LindorDoubleChoc · 01/02/2025 19:38

Piano lessons

How do you manage only twice a year? Doesn't it get really rooty in between? (Looking for the miracle answer that will change my life and break me free from 8 weekly apts 😂)

Fupoffyagrasshole · 01/02/2025 19:38

Travel
theatre
concerts
music festivals

CherryMarigold · 01/02/2025 19:39

Some of the other things that other posters are mentioning don't come out of my personal spends budget, e.g. days out, dinner out, gig / theatre tickets, travel etc.

Same here. Those kinds of spends come from the joint savings not my personal account.

I've recently spent loads on trainers, massages and prints that have caught my eye.

stayathomer · 01/02/2025 19:40

Magazines- every few months only but makes me so happy!!

Zuve · 01/02/2025 19:41

I am always tempted by clothing. I already have too many, but treat myself to a pretty top some time. I am teetotal but enjoy lemon tea, just like my mum. Got a cupboard full of Garnier creams etc.
I love the outdoors
