project 2025

Be careful what you wish for is the phrase that comes to mind.

PandoraSox · 07/02/2025 17:07

Some long overdue cat tax from me, courtesy of John Lewis. For the small sum of £242 you can be the proud owner of this cat lamp 🤣🤣🤣

I remembered my twitter password, yesterday, so rescued some pics to use as tax before deregging. Hopefully second had goods will be acceptable 😅

It’s environmentally conscious to reuse and recycle.

That's hideously brilliant 😸

bombastix · 07/02/2025 18:06

Unfortunately for John Lewis it seems you can post a review without proof of purchase so heaven forfend any of these are untrue.

If I win the lottery tonight I now know what I'm going to get first thing.

BIWI · 07/02/2025 18:08

Dear God - £242!!!

BIWI · 07/02/2025 18:08

Dear God - £242!!!

Don't worry - a quick google search and there is a black cat version for only £190.

prettybird · 07/02/2025 18:13

My first thought - having searched for the lamp - was that the name wouldn't work (or would work, depending on your perspective Wink) here in Scotland, where jobby has a very particular meaning Grin

And the price Shock

BIWI · 07/02/2025 18:13

I'll buy two.

Yes. If you got a plank and put it on top with a Jobby either end you could have a tasteful coffee table

It's not just Scotland...

Well, a coffee table, I’m not sure about tasteful.

Laws are only as effective as the ability and will to enforce them.

All our "democracies" have been built upon the premise that the law is respected by all - even the government. Once that concept is forgotten, there will only be one eventuality. It may be days, years or decades. But it will be arrived at.

This is why it is so dangerous to allow any government to "push" the law.

If Twitter (i.e Musk, let's not fool ourselves here) decide they don't feel like obeying the law, then what next ?

(The UK doesn't have any moral high ground here. The DWP and Home Office regularly try and outcompete each other to ignore court rulings).

Andrew Gwynne has been sacked for some pretty grim messages. It was a very swift sacking. This wasn't on my radar at all. Compared to the last government, this one is much better in addressing ministerial scandals that are bound to result in a resignation. It's dealt with immediately rather than allowing it to drag on for days.

Andrew Gwynne MP official portrait in 2020. Andrew Gwynne is the Labour MP for Denton and Reddish, and has been an MP continuously since 5 May 2005. He currently undertakes the role of Shadow Minister (Social Care).

Health Minister Andrew Gwynne sacked over messages

Gwynne apologises for the "badly misjudged" messages and is suspended as a Labour party member.

Same. Fucking idiot. At least he’s been despatched fast.

Piggywaspushed · 08/02/2025 19:45

Also queuing up as an alleged Labour devotee to say I cannot stand that man. He was one of the group wo were vile about and towards Diane Abbott. Nasty piece of work.

DuncinToffee · 08/02/2025 19:51

Swift action from Starmer, good to see.
