Your 'old lady' habits/tastes ;)

Do you like footspa? Have a crush on Alan Titchmarsh?

I'm 47 and I like to get Kriss Kross puzzle books when I go on holiday, I think their main market is the over 70s. I also like Fenjal bubble bath which I'm sure is rather an old lady thing.

Old ladies also welcome to add their old lady habits too! 😁

I like a foot spa.
More Monty Don, than Alan Twitmarsh though!

A proper old lady would avoid anything which makes the bath slippy. Perhaps you mean Badedas?

PuppyMonkey · 16/01/2025 18:47

I like my tea really, really milky. NOT weak, but milky.

Tcsha · 16/01/2025 18:48

Eyeliner and mascara on lower lashes. Think it’s just habit now. I tried without and have to admit I did look younger and fresher, but just can’t seem to give it up!

Shinyandnew1 · 16/01/2025 18:48

I like a sherry! And a scarf as my neck gets cold.

Also,

Heated blanket
Wooly hat
Astral face cream

StopTalkingSoMuch · 16/01/2025 18:48

I'm an "old" lady of 65.

I hate -
Fenjal bubble baths
Footspas
Kriss Kross books
garden centres
Gardening programmes
Strictly Come Dancing, Bake Off, anything like that.
Any craft - crochet, knitting, lace work, etc.
Bingo

I DO like -
Rock music (favourite band is Linkin Park)
Very hot Indian food
Doc Martens
Ice skating

I am an old lady in my 70s! Genuinely. Skechers are the biz.

EBearhug · 16/01/2025 18:49

I like Badedas.

I did my ironing pile on Tuesday and my mending pile last night. I've also paid something with a cheque in the last 3 months.

Rictasmorticia · 16/01/2025 18:49

I wake up a 6 every morning. I sit up in bed until 10 or 11with my IPad. DH brings me tea at 8, which I have with my pills. It’s a lovely way to start the day.

ViolettaDePensy · 16/01/2025 18:49

Bed at 9.30. HEAVEN

You're not classed as an old lady at 65!

Foreverexhausted1 · 16/01/2025 18:50

I like jigsaws. I asked DH for a puzzle mat for Christmas

Normallynumb · 16/01/2025 18:51

I have a recliner and a heat pad
I'm 60, but feel 21 in my head

Medically, 65 is classed as Elderly 😮

evtheria · 16/01/2025 18:52

I loooooove parmaviolet sweets.

EnRouteElsewhere · 16/01/2025 18:52

I get more excited by slippers than shoes
Early 40s

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/01/2025 18:53

Proper slippers that enclose the whole foot.
A nice cardigan.
A nice sit down.

I didn't know that. I always considered 'old' to be something above 70..

Behindthethymes · 16/01/2025 18:55

All the young ‘ look like old ladies to me now in their square cardigans. They already have the orange coloured legs albeit from fake tan instead of thick nylons. Some of them have their hair dyed grey. All they need are tartan shopping trolleys to complete the look.

They make me feel positively youthful despite the ravages of peri menopause.

Thingymajigii · 16/01/2025 18:56

I like a comfy chair when dining out (mid 40s)

EBearhug · 16/01/2025 19:00

Well, this is the first time anyone has ever wanted to. I'm free next weekend...

2orangey · 16/01/2025 19:00

Early 40s.
Jigsaws
Crosswords/ word puzzles of all kinds
Period dramas
Black and white films
Heatpad on the sofa and heated blanket in bed
Ovaltine/horlicks
Thermal vests, thick socks, elasticated waists and all-round comfy cosiness

SnidelyWhiplash · 16/01/2025 19:00

Badedas is the only bath foam guaranteed to give me thrush. Shame as I love the smell.

I earn my old lady badge though (at 52) by liking Radox and hating expensive bath foams. I’m a prolific regifter of Neom ‘real luxury bath foam’. Got 3 of the stinky fuckers at Christmas.

whaddayawannado · 16/01/2025 19:02

I like:
A nice cup of tea and a sit down
Sudoku
Proper gardening programmes
A trip to the garden centre
Comfy shoes
Repeats of Open All Hours
Lily of the valley
Cardigans - I have many cardigans
Rolling my eyes at the way other people prune their roses
Ankle wellies
