If you're 5ft5 at what weight do you feel slim?

Mifiee · 05/01/2025 17:55

Am coming to the end of a long weightloss journey and have come further than I originally thought I would and still don't feel quite satisfied.

I'm wondering if I have a warped sense of slim due to the fact I was close to 250lbs for many years.

So I am asking the question above to gauge :)

I'm 5,4 and I feel good (not thin) at 10 st but think i'd be perfect at 9st 7.

I have to say that I've only ever made it to 9st 13 for two weeks of my adult life 😂

You are me!
I made it below 10st before a holiday about 6 years ago and felt fantastic.
10 st is great, 10st3 is ok. I'm also 5'5

etonmessedup · 06/01/2025 13:21

Slim-ish at 60kg, properly slim around 55kg

OurDreamLife · 06/01/2025 13:22

I’m 5ft6 and weigh about 7.5 stone. Sometimes I’ll go up to 7.12 max.

Always been heavier, sort of 11/12st was my norm but sat at 18st for maybe 4 yrs

AmKnow 9st 6lbs

I think I need to do some weights and tone up.

Well done. That's quite an achievement.

You are probably needing toning rather than any more weight loss.

I've put weight on and actually look better now I've been exercising than when I weighed less and didn't do any

Lablonde · 06/01/2025 14:01

I'm 5"6 and naturally curvy, as in I have wide hips and big boobs no matter my weight. I'm happy at 10st/64kg which is a good balance of slimness and sustainability for me and sees me wear a size 10 trousers and 8-10 top.

I'm around 66kg just now after a honeymoon then Christmas and feel podgy - clothes are all a bit tight. I start with a PT tomorrow for a few weeks, to recover things.

I've been as low as 62kg with a PT before but it was a lot of effort to maintain and I felt like I was constantly battling with my body to stay at it. I'll work towards it for specific reasons (wedding, going on a beach holiday) but I don't try maintain myself there long-term.

That's pretty underweight. I hope you're not suggesting that's a good weight for OP to aim for.

I'm 5ft.5 and I feel slim at 10stone

theeyeofdoe · 06/01/2025 14:34

I'm a little shorter 5'4" feel slim at 9stone. I look like a lollipop head at 8 and a half!

DrCoconut · 06/01/2025 14:37

I'd love to get down to 10st 7. I have a heavy frame and can't weigh as little as most people on here without looking really thin. I also can't maintain a lower weight as I find it too difficult to stick to weight control diet restrictions as well as medical ones that I have. Short term yes, salad leaves and steamed fish for the rest of my life, no.

Verite1 · 06/01/2025 14:40

I'm just below 5 ft 5 and I feel OK at 9 stone 10. I feel better at 9 stone 7 and relatively slim at 9 stone 3. But 9 stone 3 is very difficult to maintain now without some quite serious deprivation. I don't know if I would every really call myself slim though - average maybe.

thesugarbumfairy · 06/01/2025 15:09

I've never felt slim in my life.
At the lowest I remember I was 10st 4 when I was at uni. I then went up to the mid 12's.

I got back down to 10 1/2 st age 30, and I have kept the jeans I wore from them in the vague hope I will get into them one day. They are a size 11 (yeah I know - half size - got them when lived in Oz) and they are tiny. I look at them and think there is no way on this green earth I ever got into those. But I did. And I remember thinking at the time that I was still fat.🙄

However... I have been a size 20 for years and just got back down to a 14-16 at 50 - and I no longer feel fat - because I know what fat is (technically, I'm still obese, but we shall gloss over that for now)

If I ever get back into those size 11 jeans - I guarantee I will feel slim.
Its all relative 😁

I can relate to this so much.

At 16/18 I always felt like the fat friend but in reality I was a 10/12 but my friends were all extremely naturally slim.

Then the pregnancies started at even after kids I looked hood but I could never see it :(

Only looking back when I was a size 24 did I relapse how lovely I looked.

And now I'm a size 10 but all I can see is the saggy stretched skin and saggy breasts.

It's sad isn't it. To live a whole life and never be able to see the beauty in yourself.

9 and a half is where I feel slim but not too slim. Muscle tone makes a huge difference to how that looks though.

Flatbellyfella · 06/01/2025 15:26

5” 8’ &12 stone not an ounce of fat on me, there again I am not female but I am a parent & grandparent.

If you read the title you will see they asked what weight we feel slim. My answer has nothing to do with anyone else.

GoldThumb · 06/01/2025 15:27

I’m 5-5, before having kids I was always around 9 and a half stone, which I felt good at, but always had people (mainly family) commenting I was ‘too skinny’ and accusing me of having an eating disorder 🙄

Fluctuating between 11 and 11 and a half now, I feel good when I get down to about 10 stone, but that may be because I also feel good and also don’t get comments from people at this weight

It is sad, but I am more positive these days. I see (and feel!) those saggy arms (they were fatter before, but solid at least!) and the saggy boobs and crumpled belly. And god almighty the crepey neck!!

But I think due to other factors, I appreciate 'me' more at 50 than I would have done otherwise (that's health related rather than weight related) So I don't look in the mirror and see thin - but I do see better than it was. I see someone who can 'do' stuff - and now I can do it even better because I'm not carrying around all that lard. So I'm fucking hoping I feel slim when I can get those jeans over my hips!

fussychica · 06/01/2025 16:26

5'4" Lightest I've ever been as an adult was 8st when I was 21, 1970s size 10. I'm now 68 and weigh just over 10 stone and wear size 12-14 clothes which would probably have been a size16 in the 70s.
Anything under 10st I'm happy with. When you're my age you have to be careful not to be too thin as its very aging, I've got plenty of leeway😉

Manchesteruser · 06/01/2025 16:42

I'm 5' 2" and weigh 10 stone. I do need to lose about half a stone but I swim fast for 45 minutes a day and have a muscley physique so don't think I'll be much lighter than that.

financialcareerstuff · 07/01/2025 08:51

I'm 5'4.5''

I actually feel fabulous at 12 - 12.5 st. I'm naturally wide hipped and curvy, but I'm well toned, fit, with no obvious excess, fitting size 12 easily and wearing anything I like at 12 stone.

Think I've always had heavy bones and am naturally quite dense/muscular....

MyStylish40s · 07/01/2025 08:57

I’m 5ft 4, and like to be 9 stone 2lbs. At 9 stone, my face looks too gaunt (banging body though) 🤣

I was 10 stone 6 a year ago, which was far too heavy for me.

Edit: I’m probably 9.5 stone now, after Christmas. I’ll have it lost by dieting for the next 2-3 weeks

How does 2lb make such a difference? 2lbs is a good shit 😂

I lost 3 st and it didn’t make much of a difference. Nobody noticed and I can’t see the difference in the mirror.

seems mad to me when people say they can see a difference over a couple of lbs.

MyStylish40s · 07/01/2025 09:08

@Ohnonotmeagain i don’t know, but it just does. I’m usually 9stone 2, but when I lose weight and am 9, I notice it in my face immediately

I find these threads fascinating and slightly bizarre. I am 63 and since my 20s have always weighed 8 stone (50kg) or slightly under. I am a cyclist and have a cyclists bottom so wear a size 10 in M&S jeans (size 12 in M&S pants) but size 8 tops. I'm amazed that someone 2 stone heavier is wearing size 10 but I guess it depends on body shape and brand sizing.

I find it fascinating too. I'm also 63, 5'5 and 8 stone. I'm a size 6, despite having a rounded bottom. It must come down to frame size.

Itcantgetanycolder · 07/01/2025 11:50

I definitely think it’s about frame and weight distribution. My legs are always stick thin. Even when I’ve weighed two stone heavier they are thin. My arms get fat, my stomach gets big and I have back fat, but the legs remain the same.
