If you're 5ft5 at what weight do you feel slim?

Mifiee · 05/01/2025 17:55

Am coming to the end of a long weightloss journey and have come further than I originally thought I would and still don't feel quite satisfied.

I'm wondering if I have a warped sense of slim due to the fact I was close to 250lbs for many years.

So I am asking the question above to gauge :)

I'm 5,4 and I feel good (not thin) at 10 st but think i'd be perfect at 9st 7.

I have to say that I've only ever made it to 9st 13 for two weeks of my adult life 😂

36and3 · 05/01/2025 18:02

I'm 5'5 and currently feel heavy at 9st. I'm most confident at 8st 10

EVHead · 05/01/2025 18:02

10st felt good, with some toning up needed.

LokiCroc · 05/01/2025 18:04

I'm 5'4 and have a goal weight bracket in mind of 10st to 9st7. Having been obese at 15st5 and currently overweight at 12st4, I have a long way to go.

kiops · 05/01/2025 18:06

this being mumsnet, you're about to get replies saying they feel best at 7.5 stones

Doggymummar · 05/01/2025 18:06

About 8 and a half stone

LokiCroc · 05/01/2025 18:06

I imagine it depends on where you hold your weight and how muscular you are. I'm a fat hourglass and don't want to lose all my curves.

CaliforniaIsMyHappyPlace · 05/01/2025 18:07

Up to 9 stone 4 I feel slim.
Unfortunately I'm 10 stone at the moment!

Hopealong · 05/01/2025 18:08

I'm 9st 4 and wouldn't say I feel slim but feel at the right sort of weight. I've still got a tummy and would probably have to lose half a stone to get rid of that but think then I may look facially gaunt. Also I would have to be so restrictive in terms of what I could eat. Whereas at my current weight, as long as I remain very active I never feel like I'm on a diet

soupfiend · 05/01/2025 18:09

10 stone. I set myself a target initially of around 13 stone, not sure why I did that possibly because I couldnt envisage being slim or a healthy BMI, thought 'thats not for me', that is because there is a fear of success

Im more than that at the moment having put on some xmas lbs and they will be coming straight back off again over coming months.

I really notice a difference now of 5 or 6lbs, it makes a difference to how my stomach feels and my clothese feel.

Spanielsaremad · 05/01/2025 18:09

Completely depends what your body composition is. I'm 5ft 4 or 5 and I weigh 9 stone 7. I'm very muscly so and between a size 6 and 8. Others would be bigger clothes size at that weight.

RunnerDown · 05/01/2025 18:09

I’m 5 ft 4 and currently around 8 stone 12 . Which is ok but I would feel slim if I was 3-4lbs lighter. Seems to make a big difference.
But I do think it depends on your shape . I have short heavy legs which I think can make me look “dumpier” at certain weights than people with slimmer legs would look.

This.

i felt fat at 8.5 st but that’s because i was in the firm grip of an eating disorder.

i have never felt slim.

but you will get people on here saying they have wobbly bits at 7st, or a tummy at 8.

it is very hard to be objective about your own size. I now go by whether my clothes fit rather than what the mirror tells me.

Journeyintomelody · 05/01/2025 18:11

5'5 and I feel slim under 53 kg.

bakewellbride · 05/01/2025 18:16

I'm an inch taller than that and 8 stone 3 which I'm happy with.

angelcake20 · 05/01/2025 18:16

9st 7 I feel good, but that may be because it's the lightest I ever get to. Nowhere close at the moment.

LadyWentworth · 05/01/2025 18:16

I am 9st 7 and I feel ok at this weight. My shape has changed over the years after 3 pregnancies and the menopause. I used to be below 9st and was happy with that but people told me I looked too thin as I got older. I probably do look healthier at the weight I am now.

Iloveyoubut · 05/01/2025 18:17

I’m only 5’ 3 and I’ve got a relatively big frame. I feel I can do 10st if I must 91/2 I’m not trying to cover bits of me and 8’ 12” I’m living my best life but the skin on my boobs makes me want to cry.

Apileofballyhoo · 05/01/2025 18:21

I'm about that, feel fine anything under 9st 9, have to be around 9 to feel slim. I think it depends on your shape, I look lighter than I am as my legs carry more weight than my upper body. Even when I've been about 8 and a half my calves were not remotely slim but did look a bit less chunky I suppose!

Frowningprovidence · 05/01/2025 18:23

At around 59 to 61 kilo to be slim
But to be normal. Like healthy abd noway near overweight can I am perfectly OK at 63.5

Adamante · 05/01/2025 18:23

9 stone 4 is my perfect weight. A comfortable size 10, even an 8 in some shops. I'd love to be that again.

Mifiee · 05/01/2025 18:24

Thankyou, really interesting to read!

This hasn't happened

Mintone · 05/01/2025 18:26

I'm 5ft6 so a little taller but I am looking my best just over 9stone, right now I'm closer to 10 so I'm hoping to lose a few pounds over the next few months!

ShaneFulorgy · 05/01/2025 18:26

I'm 6'7" and feel slim at 6st and morbidly obese at 6st4lb
