If you're 5ft5 at what weight do you feel slim?

Am coming to the end of a long weightloss journey and have come further than I originally thought I would and still don't feel quite satisfied.

I'm wondering if I have a warped sense of slim due to the fact I was close to 250lbs for many years.

So I am asking the question above to gauge :)

I find these so interesting and I think people carry weight differently.

I'm 5'7 and at 9 stone 10 I feel awful. I need to be 9 stone really, I just don't carry weight well

twobluehorses · 05/01/2025 21:12

I sit at nine stone as my default and I’m a bit overweight at that weight. I look slim at 8 and a half stone

TheCatCameBack112 · 05/01/2025 21:16

I'm 5'4 and currently too heavy at 9st5 after over indulging at Christmas. 8'13 is my fighting weight but I haven't seen this for about 4 years

1/2 a stone shouldn't take you from slim to overweight, or do you mean that's how you feel?

Sockmate123 · 05/01/2025 21:32

Wow some of these replies 🙈 I'm 10 stone 10 and want to get tp 10 stone 2, I'd be delighted with that! 9 stone or less at 5ft 5 would be far too skinny for me at least!

Boiledeggandtoast · 05/01/2025 21:36

I find these threads fascinating and slightly bizarre. I am 63 and since my 20s have always weighed 8 stone (50kg) or slightly under. I am a cyclist and have a cyclists bottom so wear a size 10 in M&S jeans (size 12 in M&S pants) but size 8 tops. I'm amazed that someone 2 stone heavier is wearing size 10 but I guess it depends on body shape and brand sizing.

I'm 6'7" and feel slim at 6st and morbidly obese at 6st4lb

Spat my tea out laughing!!😂

DerryleaDunker · 05/01/2025 21:37

5ft2, 6/8, and feel comfortable at around 8-8st3.

menopausalfart · 05/01/2025 21:39

I look my best at 9 stone but I have quite a small frame.

I find the differences really interesting too.

I think as well as body shape and brand sizing as you mentioned, amount of muscle and style of clothes may make a difference

I am 10.5 st and wear a size 8 or 10 but I tend to wear A-line skirts and dresses which works for me as someone small waisted but with more of a bum. I also weight train so have a fair amount of muscle

Mifiee · 05/01/2025 21:43

I have zero muscle and am very flabby.

My next step is to spend this year sculpting now that the weight is gone I think.

Look very slim at just under 9 stone but it’s almost impossible for me to achieve since being in peri menopause.

I used to always be about 8 10 which was perfect. At 8 stone 2 my periods stopped for about five years when I had an ED. Amazing so little difference had such a big impact.

Im now about 9 10 and a bit chunky around the middle but still look fairly slim or at least average. I have more muscle now than I used to as I work out a lot.

Waffle19 · 05/01/2025 21:51

11 stone. I felt too slim at 10 stone. Currently over 13 stone, would kill to be just 12 stone so the wrong person to answer really 😅

5 f 3 - here
in kg -50 is the perfect classic slim healthy weight for that height. However I like a bit of mashallaaahhhhh and 55 is the best

I'm 5'3" and at 50kg I looked properly underweight and a UK 4-6

I'm more like 56kg now and about a small size 8 which is probably right. I like being 54kg but most people think I'm a tad underweight there.

changecandles · 05/01/2025 22:07

Game0fCrones · 05/01/2025 19:27

I dont think weight matters to be honest, its more about vital statistics. I feel nice at 36" 26" 36" - I'd prefer to be 34" 24" 34" but I'd literally have to starve myself for that.

I'm 54kg and small size 8 and my waist has not been 24" since I was about 20.

CouchSpud · 05/01/2025 22:14

Spanielsaremad · 05/01/2025 18:09

Completely depends what your body composition is. I'm 5ft 4 or 5 and I weigh 9 stone 7. I'm very muscly so and between a size 6 and 8. Others would be bigger clothes size at that weight.

I am the same as this. I am athletic build. 5’4, weigh 9st and wear size 6-8.

I understand. I come from a country where these were the accepted standards ...I am now much more but would go down to 55 when have the chance to diet

buttonousmaximous · 05/01/2025 22:27

I'm 5.5 and 11.5 stone. I'm overweight a size 14. I would say 9-10 stone is a healthy weight.

shrunkenhead · 05/01/2025 22:33

I'm 5'4 and can cope with being 10st but ideally like to be out of double figures. 9st would be ideal but 9st 5 will do for now.

Katesboots · 06/01/2025 08:40

I'm 5'4" and my weight is pretty evenly distributed, I have thin arms and legs and weight would tend to gather around my middle. Carrying excess weight just now after Christmas so sitting at just over 10, still fit into my clothes they're just a bit tighter! Once I get back to exercising and being more active, I hope to get back to 9/9.5 and I'll feel much happier.

ViciousCurrentBun · 06/01/2025 09:18

9 to 9 1/4 stone, I’m close to 10 currently as have my winter coat on as DH calls it plus due to a severe back injury last October I had very limited mobility for 2 months, I am recently back to managing a 3 mile walk, can usually do 10 miles.

I was easily 9 stone or just under till I hit menopause, I’m 58 now and post menopausal.

WrylyAmused · 06/01/2025 09:25

I'm 5'4" & feel ok at 57kg/9st or under, good at 54kg /8.5st or under, and ideal at ~51kg/8st
I'm a small hourglass with decent muscles.

MrsDefrost · 06/01/2025 09:40

At your weight I wouldn't even bother thinking about this until you've carried out your plans to get some exercise in. Just look at yourself objectively in the mirror in about 6 months time. Some of these replies are worrying. For example, my sister is 5'3" and 8 stone and looks terribly thin. People tend to get competitive on weight threads and it's not healthy for the people asking the questions.

HÆLTHEPAIN · 06/01/2025 09:41

I’m 5’ 6” and feel slim at around 12 stone. Though not been there a while. I used to be a 12 on top and 14 on bottom at that weight. Not slim by MN standards of course but slim enough for me. Apparently my ideal weight is around 10st but I struggled with that and pursuit of it conteibuted to my ED.

I think that's very good advice. In some ways weight alone is a very crude measure; as can be seen from the responses on this thread so much depends on body type and fitness.
