If you're 5ft5 at what weight do you feel slim?

Am coming to the end of a long weightloss journey and have come further than I originally thought I would and still don't feel quite satisfied.

I'm wondering if I have a warped sense of slim due to the fact I was close to 250lbs for many years.

So I am asking the question above to gauge :)

OP posts:
AlwaysPerplexed · 05/01/2025 19:52

I'm 5 ft 5 - have been between 9 and 10 stone all my life (I'm 69 now). I'm currently 9 st 9, but have put a few pounds on over Christmas - I'm on 'dryer' January so expect to lose a few pounds in the next few weeks

I feel best (not too thin) at 9 stone 4, but haven't got there often lately. Would be happy at 9 stone 7 lbs.

I'm a 12 top and a 10 bottom mostly.

Orangebadger · 05/01/2025 19:52

I'm 5 ft 5 and a half!! :)

To feel very slim but not skinnny I would say 9 stone. Regular slim would be 9.5 stone to 10 stone.

Right now I am peri meno, hypo thyroid so all those old ideals are not hugely achievable or sustainable. I am happy slim at 10.5 stone now.

This is exactly me! I also describe myself as dense! Because at 10st I look really slim and wear an 8 mostly. Yet others my height say they're about 8.5 stone and wear the same size.

The variations are really interesting.

Yes at 10st I’m bordering on a size 12! I have a small bone structure though. I’m 5’4 too.

BadCoffee · 05/01/2025 19:38

5’5” here. In my 20’s I was 47kg so that’s what’s in my head as feeling slim. I’m not quite as low these days but I do trend naturally smaller and I’ve never been over 55kgs even when pregnant.

Guess I'm just built to have the figure of a 12 year old boy.

In my 20s I weighed 49kg (5’6 then, but appear to have lost half an inch over the years). I hated being that weight, I was far too thin (naturally) and got so sick of the nasty comments. I’ve seen photos of me back then and I think I look awful. 61kg is my ideal and was very happy when i finally reached that weight.

Iwishiwasagiraffe · 05/01/2025 19:55

I’m almost 5 foot 5 and feel my best at 8 stone 10. I’m currently 9 stone 10 and all the weight goes onto my tummy which I hate.

PrincessSakura · 05/01/2025 19:57

I’m 5”6. I feel too heavy at 9st, most comfortable around 8st7lbs.

Nollybolly6 · 05/01/2025 19:58

8 and a half to 9 stone

YouMeandBrie · 05/01/2025 19:59

I’m 8.7, go up to around 8.10 sometimes and feel slim and good at 8.5.

OwlFeatures · 05/01/2025 19:59

I'm a touch under 5 ft 4 and I'm 9 stone 11 and feel fine at a size 10

Chickydoo · 05/01/2025 20:01

I'm 5ft 7' so a bit taller than you OP.
I weigh about 8st 10lbs. Sometimes a bit less sometimes a bit more.
I am in my 50's post menopausal.
In my 20's and 30's I was a stone lighter. I've quite a small frame Tbh.
I feel slim sometimes and not so slim on other days. I guess that's life though 🤷‍♀️

Notadream · 05/01/2025 18:01

I'm 5,4 and I feel good (not thin) at 10 st but think i'd be perfect at 9st 7.

I have to say that I've only ever made it to 9st 13 for two weeks of my adult life 😂

I’m the same height and I agree

10stone odd I feel good

9st 8 is perfect for me

9st I felt gaunt

Sleepysleepycoffeecoffee · 05/01/2025 20:08

I’m 5’5 and naturally fluctuate between 10st7 and 11st when not thinking at all about my diet. I feel slim at 10 stone. About ten years ago I was my lowest ever adult weight at 9st 4lb and felt skinny. After just having another baby, I’m aiming to get to between 9st7 and 10st

Ayechinnyreckon · 05/01/2025 20:12

I'm an inch taller and at 9st 10 I felt 'flabby', and I was. At 10st 7 I was peak physical fitness (competitive cheerleader, horse rider and rock climbing) and definitely felt slim but that's because I was toned and tight and didn't have much body fat. I don't have time to do all that any more and at 10st 8 currently I'm all flab!

girljulian · 05/01/2025 20:16

Slim? About 9st 10. Comfortable, anything under about 10st 10. I have an oddly heavy frame though I think, because the lowest adult weight I ever reached was 9st and people were telling me I looked unwell and bobble-headed (I did!)

cunoyerjudowel · 05/01/2025 20:16

5ft 6- train daily at a sport which requires you to weigh in
62kg I am at low body fat- visible individual abs body fat about 12%
64kg thigh gap, visible abs outline

I do have fake boobs which are around 1.5kg

Just to add context

"Feel slim" I feel at my best and most athletic, most attractive around 64kg, but compete around 62 in some events

Kattuccino · 05/01/2025 20:17

I'm 5ft 5 and weigh 8 st 3. People often call my skinny, but it's just a normal weight for me. Funnily enough I've never been mistaken for a 12 year old boy 🙄

However, I am 47 now and do think I look a bit scrawny sometimes. I've started strength training and am really enjoying it!

GelatoPistacchio · 05/01/2025 20:18

I feel so shallow being able to answer this in minute detail. In my defense, I had a baby 2 years ago and have been poorly this year and lost too much weight.

I was a healthy weight at a little over 9 stone but was self conscious about the size of my hips. My periods were like clockwork and I conceived my child at that weight. It's a healthy weight but I didn't like how clothes sat on my figure.

After breastfeeding and going back to work, I went down to 8 and a half stone and I felt good wearing an 8-10 in clothes.

Then I had a series of illnesses and lost half a stone. My periods are no longer as regular and I know it's too low a weight for me. But the shallow part of my brain likes how clothes look on this frame.

I want to get a grip this year and put on weight without feeling like I'm losing control.

I like to think I'm a rational person but diet culture has really done a number on me. Health is the most important thing.

Thankgodxmasisover · 05/01/2025 20:19

The variations are interesting. I'm 5'5" and weigh 9st-9st6. I wear a 10. I have a thick waist (apple shaped) so if that was smaller I would easily fit an 8 as I have small hips/no bum.

I also have huge boobs (34E) so I wear size 10 tops too.

I cycle/walk loads but i'm a 50+ menopausal woman so I do need to get to the gym and do some strength training.

Mifiee · 05/01/2025 19:31

You grow testicles and a penis under 9st??

Well i did, I thought that was normal 🤔

Weefreetiffany · 05/01/2025 20:29

Frame, body shape and muscle mass all apply. In my 20s I was 56-60kg and not very muscular, but I have a slight frame and big boobs and bum. I looked slim curvy. When I gained weight and pregnancy weight x2 I looked very obese at 80kgs because of my slight frame/ slim wrists and ankles vs mummy tummy boobs and knock-thighs. Now I am slimming down again and building muscle is the only thing thats working to shift the weight, so I will aim for 65kgs and am half way there, but accepting much more of that will be muscle and my boobs are now, after 3.5 years bf, flappy things that can hold up my iphone, rather than the perky 32dds I never appreciated at the time because they made me look fatter than I was. And I just wanted to look slim! Which in hindsight I did and will again at a higher weight because 1kg of muscle takes up less space than 1kg of fat.

nodramaplz · 05/01/2025 20:29

8st 7lb

Twototwo15 · 05/01/2025 20:32

Just over 10 stone would be slim for me.

Gggglinda · 05/01/2025 20:36

I'm 5"5 and currently 9st3 and feel heavy. I feel slim at 8 - 8 and a half.

Fourfurrymonsters · 05/01/2025 20:48

I’m mid-50s, 5ft 6in and currently sitting at 12st 10lb, which I’m actually feeling great about because 2 years ago I hit 15st 7lb after a very steady increase in weight over many years, I was properly obese and I looked like Humpty Dumpty. It was my wake-up moment. My daughter is getting married this year and I’m aiming for 10st 7lb by August, which would take me to my wedding day weight of almost 30 years ago and which I haven’t seen since. I felt I looked my very best at that weight - I’ve always had a curvy figure with decent boobs, hips and arse but I also had a teeny wee waist and long toned legs. Sadly, pregnancies, menopause, Hashimoto’s and greediness have taken their toll over the years since but I’m determined this time I’m cracking it if only to feel good in the wedding pics.

borisbumm · 05/01/2025 20:56

I'm 5'6.

I'm currently just over 10 stone. I'm still slim, but definitely don't feel nice at this weight.

I would feel best at around 9.7 stone, but I just can't seem to lose any weight!
