Does anyone know any mum influencers?

There are sooo many now, I follow a few, attending premieres, being gifted all sorts. I wondered if anyone knows any- school mums, friends, acquaintances and what they're like? (Dont have to specify who!). Are they always on their phones? Do they seem happy? I cant imagine documenting all my life it's exhausting enough just living it!

A lovely and absolutely stunning friend retrained as a personal trainer after having her first child 6 years ago (before that she was a teacher). She specialised in sessions parents can do with their baby in a pushchair or Baby Björk. During COVID she did online videos to keep her clientèle and they became popular and she was then approached by sponsors. Her kids and DH are never on her professional sm (she uses IG) but her vibe and target audience is very ‘yummy mummy’. She is a very genuine person.

I don't know a current lifestyle influencer, but my mum was the equivalent in the 90s - lifestyle journalist.

Let's just say that my memories differ from what's presented in her articles. And that's before you get to the omissions...

What I would say is that from my knowledge of the type, they have a tendency to believe their own hype. In a strange way, they believe that the story they told was the truth.

My own son is not and will not be on any social media until he chooses it himself.

@CooksDryMeasure assuming we are talking about the same person - the other one is followed by her, she actually has 95k followers and a blue tick 🤣
Double L initials.

We are definitely talking about the same person as I’ve just found LL who is also local to me.

I don’t know any on a friendship basis but I’ve worked for influencers before including mum ones. I wish more people would take vlogs etc with a pinch of salt, it’s very easy to craft any narrative you want out of a large amount of footage into ten mins, make it seems like perfection.

Pogggle · 12/12/2024 15:49

Hannah (NotUrBasicMama) lives in the same town as me. She's just as loud, vulgar and sweary in real life as she is on social media. I see her in Aldi a lot, filming and trying to draw attention to herself

whiskeytangofox · 12/12/2024 16:01

Nope, and I’ve never watched anyone on Instagram or TikTok either as I don’t have them downloaded. I watch YouTube sewing videos when I’m having a coffee break, but I don’t think that counts?

Must admit, I don’t understand why anyone would take any advice from the untrained just because they’re relatively attractive with a nice smile? 🤔

I’ve got a friend in her 70’s that watches clothes selling videos and showed me one on her phone but after a couple of minutes, I was bored rigid. 🤷🏻‍♀️

At the baby group I used to go to there was a woman who had a successful blog and online presence. She was, in all honesty, the bitchiest, most empty-headed grasper I've ever met. She used to leave her baby to cry for ages while she schmoozed with other mums.

There’s one who lives near me - in countryside near my village. I know her a bit IRL and she seems ok but talks about herself a lot and takes it all very seriously. Her thing is home-making skills in the country-side but the disparity between what she posts and how she lives is quite honestly, hysterically funny. She has several Nick-names - Margot Leadbetter and Hyacinth Bucket.

Lydia Millen??

Posted above about a former neighbour but thanks to this thread I've gone down a rabbit hole of stalking her, mostly just images as i don't want to download apps. OMG she is even more full of shit than last time. I wonder what her family make of it, they are very normal and rural, and her Dh has a high profile job but is a sensible quiet type, a farmer's son. I can't imagine him being ok with her sharing everything about herself. Maybe he is. Her kids are secondary now, I wonder how they feel about it.

slightlydistrac · 12/12/2024 16:34

I can't imagine ever watching any of this stuff let alone be influenced by it.
🤑

needlesandpinsa · 12/12/2024 16:36

I know a Scottish one. If she was a bar of chocolate she would eat herself. Lots on controversy of stuff she has done in the past, it's well known around here but she lies her way out of it and people fall for her bullshit. An absolutely horrible woman.

Cravey · 12/12/2024 16:36

We do, she's loud, rude, fame hungry, selling her children, it's awful. I don't have much to do with her but my dh does, we know a male influencer who is just normal as in everyday day etc.

Mynx · 12/12/2024 16:40

I do and she’s not nice (unless she wants something)

Does she live in SE London?

No, she lives in Scotland. Absolutely HATED where she lives for awful things that she has done. Cries bullies, trolls and jealousy on the regular when the truth is she is the biggest CF to ever walk the earth.

WingBingo · 12/12/2024 16:52

I know one!

she seems very together online and everything is perfect.

Not so much on the school run

I'm going to spend all afternoon saying 'drip fed. Dripfed? Drip feeded?' to myself 😂

Same 😂

RosieLeaf · 12/12/2024 16:56

I know one from my DC’s previous school. She’s a moron. Her online life if nothing like her real life.

Don’t follow any of them - influencing shouldn’t be a job.

Who on earth do they influence and where does the money come from? I understand OF get their money from dirty old men in their bedrooms - the rest I don't get!

asthecrowdwaschantingmore · 12/12/2024 16:59

There's one at our school, and she is genuinely one of the worst actual parents I've ever met. I feel so sorry for her neglected children who come last in her life.

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 12/12/2024 17:02

Someone I was “friends” with in school is 🤣
I say “friends” in inverted commas, because we were part of the same friendship group-but she is absolutely not my sort of person.
She was a vacuous airhead in school, and she’s a vacuous airhead now. She’s trying to be a Mrs Hinch type, with “home decor” thrown in.
Her insta is full of smiley “oops, caught me off guard” family pics in their completely grey home. All super tidy and organised, which, if you know her, you know is utter bollocks 🤣 she’s the most chaotic (not in an endearing way) and banal individual. But people buy into the insta life that other folks create.

They influence other people on instagram. So the cosy pics in the matching pjs - they can charge £1000s for that. Plus the affiliate links. I'm in NI and there are a few here who seem successful right across the UK. It looks exhausting keeping it all up - perfect homes and immaculate kids.

Doggymummar · 12/12/2024 17:11

i know the owner of a tiktok dogfluencer. They get loads of free stuff including holidays (UK) dog food, accessories etc
