Does anyone know any mum influencers?

There are sooo many now, I follow a few, attending premieres, being gifted all sorts. I wondered if anyone knows any- school mums, friends, acquaintances and what they're like? (Dont have to specify who!). Are they always on their phones? Do they seem happy? I cant imagine documenting all my life it's exhausting enough just living it!

ssd · 12/12/2024 12:50

Jesus no and I'd avoid them if i did

ExhibitionOfYourself · 12/12/2024 12:50

No. They wouldn't be my type of person in the slightest.

No. Wouldn't want to either.

Someone I knew through a mutual friend tried her absolute best to become one - it didn't work and her two sons have had everything from toileting accidents to tantrums to illnesses broadcast to, at one point, up to 10,000 strangers. Her 'followers' slowly declined in number and she gave up trying to flog tat and take any freebie going, but still plasters their lives all over Insta, apparently. She is one of the most miserable, angry people I've ever met. She also drip feeded a pregnancy announcement with photos of hospital bands on her wrist etc, then got all offended when no one was surprised that she was pregnant.

I’d run several miles from people like this especially mums who document their children’s lives on SM. Grossly intrusive.

RubyRedBow · 12/12/2024 13:01

I do but they aren’t one of the big names. They do make decent money and get quite a few things gifted though considering it’s just a side thing they do.

I know one. I actually saw her online a few times before I met her and it randomly turned out her mum and my mum are friends. I now see her at big get togethers.

She came across as really pretentious and superficial online and very attention seeking with her parenting but in person she’s an absolute sweetheart and a very different person.

amiabadfriend7 · 12/12/2024 13:04

Kind of. I’m friends with an influencer who naturally gained a lot of followers because she’s pretty and friends with some bigger influencers (eg Molly mae) she then had a kid and is dating a football player. I met her through work originally. She’s kind and down to earth. She was always on her phone though, but tbh not more than a normal phone obsessed person. I don’t know what her day to day is like but she seems grounded even though she’s got bigger and has time to talk to little old me.

FrannyScraps · 12/12/2024 13:05

I do, she's been on good morning Britain and some radio shows for parenting debate style interviews. I don't know her well but have chatted in the school playground (not about that, we actually spoke about my job).

Persimmons123 · 12/12/2024 13:08

I do, her insta is all glitter and glam, and when she picks up she looks so haggard

ChristmasWitchy · 12/12/2024 13:11

I met a small time instamum as our kids were born at the same time. Sorry but she was so insecure and self obsessed.

Viviennemary · 12/12/2024 13:12

No. I wouldn't want to. I bet they are all full of themselves in real life.

pestowithwalnuts · 12/12/2024 13:14

Nothing they could do would influence me

EmmaEmEmz · 12/12/2024 13:15

I was, a few years ago, with a relatively successful blog.

It all moved to tiktok and YouTube and I'm not comfortable with videos, so it petered out and I now writr for other websites

saraclara · 12/12/2024 13:15

I used to work with one. She was lovely back then, but the whole influencer thing has turned her into a really self obsessed person that most of her pre-baby friends have now abandoned. It's pretty sad.

Winterwellies · 12/12/2024 13:16

I knew one vaguely through a toddler group. She was friendly and came across well, but from her public insta profile with hundreds of thousands of followers it was easy to tell exactly where she lived, her children's school and even her car number plate, which was scary.

IdgieThreadgoodeIsMyHeroine · 12/12/2024 13:17

No, but I can confidently state that every single one of them is a dickhead.

I think I've let myself down there by writing 'drip feeded' not 'drip fed' but 'drip fed- just doesn't sound right and now I'm unsure Xmas Grin

User54614664 · 12/12/2024 13:25

I do!! Though she's more of DH's friend as they grew up in the same town with the same group of people. On Instagram she only posts happy family life, glam trips away, juggling being a mum of 3 with her own business etc. Her partner seems pretty absent most of the time so she's effectively solo parenting as well. DH told me she buys weed off their mutual friend all the time as she's stressed AF and can't barely deal with all the stress.

I would definitely say "drip fed", but I'm now questioning whether it should be one word ("dripfed") or two!

PiastriThePastry · 12/12/2024 13:28

Kind of? My husbands ex girlfriend is a reasonably well known (in those circles I guess) as a mumfluencer, her USP is being a bit skint, having poor mental health and having loads of kids it would seem. She really took off just after she and DH split when she got pregnant with her new boyfriend v quickly. She’s big on the ‘be kind’/‘you don’t know what someone is going through’ movement too.. ironic really, as she used to cheat on DH constantly, with random blokes and mutual friends, used to emotionally abuse him and sometimes hit him too. She was a peach 🙃
It just all seems so fake.

I'm going to spend all afternoon saying 'drip fed. Dripfed? Drip feeded?' to myself 😂

Apolloneuro · 12/12/2024 13:39

I do. She’s not just a mumfluencer though, she’s a successful author. Her account started as a mum account though.

She’s really nice and doesn’t do all the wanky stuff.
