Who has this virus? Like a bad cold on steroids

I think this is Day 8 and it's never ending. I usually pick up after day 3 of a head cold but this just seems to be gathering momentum. Sneezing, nose either congested or running like a tap even at 2 am.

I teach and had a rubbish week last week but I think I will have to phone in sick if I'm not feeling better by this time tomorrow.

I am now feeling a lot better after about 5 days of coughing.

Other symptoms - lethargy, feeling 'raw' and headachy, coughing, mild sore throat, ulcers in mouth.

Can't sleep!

Yes coughing and sore throat were my main symptoms. I take melatonin each night so my sleep time is guaranteed.

Does it work? You're also awake at stupid o clock!

Glad you're feeling better though. My ears are now feeling muffled.

DH is snoring and I'm ill, irritated and riddled with insomnia and snot 🤧

I've got all the symptoms above and bad nausea, can't eat or drink anything. And whole body feels like it's been throw against something hard. Never had a migraine so bad either.

We are the same. Day 5 for us, day 7 for my 4 year old 🫠 feel so sorry for him p

Hoping I would have nodded off and woke a little better, but no, feel terrible. I was awful in work last week but was hoping I'd turn a corner on the weekend but I'm worse this morning.

Awful virus!

I had this a free weeks ago. Went almost totally deaf with the congestion. The cold lasted about 3 weeks before it finally went. Then this week I have come down with another horrendous cold. I have had enough of it all now!

Sounds like mine. Started Tuesday night with a sore throat. Usual heavy cold symptoms with a headache. Soldiered on all week at work. Thought I'd be starting to feel better over the weekend , but I feel so much worse. Had to cancel a night out and went to bed at 9pm. And oh my, the snot. It's beyond belief. And the virus just seems to be gaining traction , not easing after 4 days.

I've just gotten over this after 3 weeks!! Have never had a cold last that long. So much snot.. 🤢

It was nearly 3 weeks for me! Hang in there, it will go eventually!

I have had a cold since early-ish Nov. It wasn't that bad a cold but got a persistent cough that is still lingering. Doc says post viral cough but I notice my family now have a bad cold which I think isn't the one I had. They are hit quite bad. I do think me carrying on working etc is why I am still coughing. I did sod all the last few days and cough is easing.

I've had the cough, sore throat and general aching for about 5 days. Child had it for one day and is fine, but I'm getting worse!

Only just starting to turn a corner now but had a sore throat/,start of cold nearly 3 weeks ago and it's been awful.
Headaches, body aches and chills, all the snot in the world (must have bought heaps of tissues and loo roll) and a cough that almost made me sick.

Cough still slightly there if I m doing anything physical like walking uphill and I have never been so tired.

Worked right through as it's autumn term and our school needs us there but it's honestly a plague pit as all the kids are coughing and sneezing too.

Had something similar last year at this sort of time too.

Day 21 here. It’s brutal. Lasted symptoms are wicked stiff/sore neck and zero energy. Zero. It is miserable. Signed off work for weeks.

Still feel nauseous too. It’s genuinely felt never ending, every day some new and horrible symptoms to add to the list. I’m guessing flu or Covid - it has to be.
I work in a school… and we are given a flu vaccine voucher when almost all chemists have finished vaccinating and run out of vaccines. Helpful.

Oh I forgot this weird symptom. Nothing tastes right. I love my coffee and it s not tasting good just now. I m living on lucozade.
Even bland things like bread taste weird like overly sweet.

This is what has me wondering if it’s Covid. Sense of smell, taste, appetite all screwed up…

Toddler DS and I both have horrible chesty coughs, really disgusting. He is very snotty too, I got past the runny nose 3 days ago. I'm considering doctors tomorrow for toddler as he's really not well and is pulling his ears 😬

I've got it too. Been feeling sick, had headaches, coughing up lumps of matter, sneezing, sinus congestion, malaise, aches and pains, and struggling to stay awake. Also can't taste or smell properly.

I think that's the full bingo of cold symptoms

Yep, day 11 for me, still congested with a cough and sneezing ++. It was my days off for the worst of it but I’ve been back at work since day 4 and it seems to be never ending!

Me,its been 2 weeks and I'm finally starting to feel better. The worst of it is I started a new job last week, which meant 6 hours of travel on the Monday and 10 hours travel on the Friday, on top of doing the job and DH came down with it too so the house went to shit the past week. Currently on survival mode! Ugh

I had all these symptoms - it was covid.

I tested positive for a week but had the cough, snot, and tiredness for five weeks in all.

My sinuses and throat were so painful.

The nausea was terrible.

I'm still coughing occasionally, but at least I can go to sleep now without constant snot and coughing.

I only tested as I had some tests at home, and it came up positive immediately.

I’ve been ill since Monday. Started with a sore throat. By now with a normal cold it would have started decongesting but every day I feel the same no improvement although the sore throat only lasted a couple of days. Little appetite and no energy. I’ve cancelled everything up to next Wednesday.

2 months. Had a lull for about a week then back again.
