What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Most soups are just horrible these days

Yorkshire Provender and Covent Garden are still tasty and classed as Processed rather than ultra Processed.

Rowntrees replacing the tooty frooties in their Pick n Mix with jelly tots. I loved jelly tots, but the pick n mix already had fruit pastilles, so didn’t need more jelly sweets. I miss the contrast there used to be and don’t buy them anymore. Think they made the packets smaller too.

IRN BRU GOT RUINED
😡 😡 😡

Baxters soups went gluten free and no longer taste right.
Sainsbury dropped their version of after-eight mints which were truly great.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls shampoo and conditioner, the moment they put Rose Hip oil in it I had to stop using it as it made my curls lanky.

Haven't found anything that works as well since(please Aussie don't change yours). There seems to be this obsession that everyone with curly hair has afro hair or really dry hair so everything is aimed at them.

Just recently, Fairy Liquid has changed. It's gone all thin and useless.

Agree there;it's rubbish.Tesco is washing up liquid is what we now buy instead as it does a much better job.

YES - Yorkshire Provender tomato and Wensleydale (I think?) is the the only soup I will buy. I usually find pre made soup just yuck.

Wordlwide issue then! I saw I bought a fake!

Can't get Schwarz's Thai 7 Spice Seasoning any more, can't find anywhere that stocks it. It went into my favourite stir-fries and they're just not the same without it.

Shufflealongnow · 15/11/2024 07:20

When supermarkets temporarily remove something you buy every week to make room for the Christmas stuff. I've got enough on at this time of year without also trying to find an alternative that everyone likes.

Velvian · 15/11/2024 07:20

Agree with pp about subscriptions for everything! I thought I'd put a Now TV gift card on my Secret Santa wishlist, as I would like to try it, but you can't get them anymore. Not sure if that's the same for Netflix, as I've bought other people those over the years.

TinySpark · 15/11/2024 07:21

Wagon Wheels are smaller….or maybe my hands are bigger? 🤔😬

NippyCrab · 15/11/2024 07:21

Discontinuing Gucci by Gucci! Nothing comes close.

Also cheesy wotsits, they are small and skinny, not fat and fluffy and moreish anymore.

Some of my favourite presenters and newsreaders from Radio 4 don't do it any more... Their voices were so familiar and soothing.

@HelloYouGuys No moths round the lights at night because we killed all the insects with our pesticides and greed

I also am appalled at Quality Street. And M&S mixed nuts. Both are a Christmas treat and I’ve done some early sampling this year.

Quality Street - where the fuck are the toffee chocolate batons??? The orange crunch is now that horrible standard shape. The wrappers are crap. The tin is 350g smaller. It all just feels cheap and crap.

M&S “salted” roasted nuts are now hunt the salt. I reckon they’ve cut the salt by 50%, They now taste shite. If I wanted unsalted nuts, I’d buy unsalted nuts.

Edit to add - also what the fuck happened to Twiglets last year ??? They started baking them or something? Also taste crap now.

STOP FUCKING AROUND WITH STUFF

My big HOORAY goes to Fortnum & Mason’s Chocolossus range of biscuits which not only are enormous but have the thickest chocolate I’ve seen on a biscuit since childhood. Cost a bomb but worth every single penny.

nitromors paint stripper. used to be bloody vicious-woe betide you if you got any on your hands-stung to blazers. about 5 years ago they fucked with the formula and I reckon you could probably drink it now.

Yes I agree, the new formula is pointless. You may as well spit on whatever you’re stripping…. And it dries out if your not quick enough 🙄

wonderings2 · 15/11/2024 07:26

Royster's beef and mustard crips are apparently no more 😔

It can’t do because now I use a bit of cling film over the top. I can’t be the only one.

I assumed it was cost saving, Fuck all to do with the environment in their part

Ah, is that what the Baxters change was. I used to have the Mediterranean Tomato vegetable one on my v low calories days and it just isn't the same now. The packaging changed slightly as well. And the price is horrendous.

They changed the colour of the street lights on my road from orange to white a few years back and I'm honestly still livid about it.
Literally no one else has noticed. My DH didn't notice till i pointed it out
It bothers me so much abd it also bothers me that it bothers me lol
I HATE the white light.
Outraged the council can just change the colour of the night time without asking.

I would have noticed this too! I feel like I have a personal battle against harsh white light that no one else notices. I boycott restaurants if they switch to white lights and have been known to write polite complaint/suggestion emails 🤣

notprincehamlet · 15/11/2024 07:27

Just as absolutely everybody else in the entire solar system moved into the 'meat-free' market mostly with shit upf products, Good Life discontinued their nut burgers. They were the best. I miss them so much.
Also Perfect Harmony being cancelled after one series.

Cybertron · 15/11/2024 07:27

Twiglets changed their recipe and now taste awful.

VerbenaGirl · 15/11/2024 07:29

Foil wrapped Kit Kats. One of life’s greatest joys snatched away.

pumpkinpiee · 15/11/2024 07:29

Greggs steak and cheese rolls 😪

Frauhubert · 15/11/2024 07:29

All perfumes last 5 minutes🥲
Used to be able to smell some perfumes on clothes for days after you sprayed. Now nothing. All new versions are just a shadow
i have to reapply a few times a day to smell anything
