What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

International sport being on expensive subscription services instead of terrestrial TV. It's ruined the Olympics for me and I'm especially angry that the Scottish rugby internationals are only on TNT.

Hippobot · 15/11/2024 13:13

The price of concert tickets!

idrinkandiknowthings · 15/11/2024 13:13

The discontinuance of Heinz Toastie Toppers. God I loved the chicken and mushroom one.

Daisy4569 · 15/11/2024 13:13

Treacle crunch creams

the80sweregreat · 15/11/2024 13:14

I understand the hate for the new wrappers in the QS tins, but I think they are better for the environment? So I read , anyway
The chocs taste horrible now as it is , so I won't be buying them.
Heroes don't do bounties anymore either :(

Not everyone’s favourite but I miss Heinz Toast Toppers used to love the chicken and mushroom one for lunch.

Literally just posted this!!!

Lostinbrum · 15/11/2024 13:15

Old el paso enchilada kits. Used to be amazing with tomatoey sauce but now they have some weird creamy shit and they give me an upset stomach :(

I loved Aqua di Gio! I tried to find it recently and this explains why I couldn't

Paco Rabanne XS the original one in the 90's and they discontinued it

I rather prefer the white, but like you I'm surprised no-one else seemed to have noticed that we no longer live in an orange glow.

I prefer the white. British street lighting is rank, though, in terms of having too much in some areas. Every time I go elsewhere in Europe it is done more attractively.

Does anyone remember a short lived late 90s chocolate bar called either Elite or Delite? Definitely ended with 'ite'. I remember it as a cylinder of thin biscuit coated in chocolate, possibly designed to be low in calories?

Am I imagining this? The packaging was either light metallic pink or light metallic blue.

Was it flyte bars?

Nothungrycat · 15/11/2024 13:19

Roger & Gallet. Lovely perfume and shower gel. Still available all over Europe, but not in the UK. I just went on their website to check, and put in "London" - nearest stockist was Boulogne.

Pudmyboy · 15/11/2024 13:21

We used to have lots of fun making sun catchers/crafts with the shiny ones when we were little and peeking through the wrappers, so the room changed colours.
@MogTheSillyCatWe used to do this! Simple trick which brought a lot of pleasure to us kids!

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 15/11/2024 13:24

Fig handwash by Zara. Most of the new ones are just blurgh.

Same as most for make-up, too soon to get into it.

Giorgio Armani perfume, worst part is I dropped my almost full last old bottle. 🥲

Starbucks Tuna chibattas, had to open to check there was actually any. A teaspoonful tops!

Hellman's Organic Mayonnaise.
Used to be good, then disappeared and came back changed. Boo!

Blue Riband chocolate wafers.
The chocolate was so thin, I could see the wafer. Hope it was jist a bad batch.

@Winter41 , M&S Gold are great.
Couldnt belive the taste of Twinnings Everyday from Costo, literally gave them all away.

@the80sweregreat
I find this great. I know it says body, but use a bit on my face.

Not so small, but moving somewhere with no Ocado or Waitrose. Wouldn't have changed the decision to buy, but took it for granted there would be one. 😔
FWP I know!

PetsPalace · 15/11/2024 13:24

I was so disappointed the last time I had a KitKat, they're awful now. Not quite Hershey's bad but getting there.

Mushroom Double Swiss Burger from Burger King

the80sweregreat · 15/11/2024 13:27

Thanks for the scrub recommendations

Why do companies always stop making the good stuff! @DustyLee123 this a perfect alternative title for this thread! And a very good point too!!

Mars Delight?

boilingstormyseas · 15/11/2024 13:33

Rowntree's Vegan fruit pastilles - squishy and not nice
Any Cadbury's chocolate - now tastes slimy and sickly sweet
Vicks vapour rub - seems so mild and greasy now
Kitkats - fading away in size and really miss the foil wrapping
Quality Street - not so good and really don't like the new wrapping either

And those big wigs at the RFU etc, wonder why rugby isn't popular and is struggling to attract a younger crowd!

Renaming Twickenham was motivated by money and nothing else. An absolute disgrace.

freakydeaky · 15/11/2024 13:38

@JaffaCake70 Our local Poundland had caramac buttons yesterday. Not as good as the bars, of course, but better than nothing…

I buy mine online from NVS Pharmacy, they're very efficient and it's often on offer. (My favourite is the Jean-Marie Farina soaps, but I used to love the Green Tea which sadly was discontinued some years ago.)

mumda · 15/11/2024 13:46

Sainsburys did this box thing with spaghetti in, a packet of tomato stuff and I think a small packet of parmasan. Possibly called 'pomodoro' or something very similar. This is probably nearly 30 years ago.
It was very simple but nice.

Wherewhatnow · 15/11/2024 13:46

Tesco salt and vinegar rice cakes used to be made with white rice, then they switched to wholegrain and tasted burnt. All the other brands seemed to do it at the same time as well, so I haven't found a replacement.

Timetosparkle478 · 15/11/2024 13:49

PG tips are now square not pyramid, now I can’t tell the difference between my decaf that I drink, keep getting them muddled and I’m buzzing all night!
