What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Some of mine are a bit old, but they still piss me off.

The discontinuation of TCP ointment (the greasy ointment, not the cream). This was the stuff of miracles and I have found nothing that comes close since.

Pears Soap. I loved Pears Soap (as in the solid oval bar) and at some point when it was taken over by someone, they changed the formula and it has never been the same.

After Eight Mints - these used to be truly wafer thin, dark, properly minty and utterly delicious. They are now too thick, sweet, sickly and not nice at all.

AND, very importantly WTAF has happened to Waitrose Essential loo roll. I've bought these for years and all of a sudden they've turned into the cheapest of the cheap rolls where you get about 20 sheets per roll.

Heinz sponge puddings in a tin, they were lovely
Pot Noodles, they just don’t taste the same now
Cadburys, I used to love it but don’t enjoy it now
Twiglets and After Eights don’t taste the same either ☹️

Creosote. Oh, the smell.

my next door neighbour still uses it!! 😤She was out there painting her back fences a couple of years back and it stank for about a week. Where the hell she's got it from god only knows. Must have kept a stash of it or she knows a Tradie who gives it to her.

I feel we all agree that food ( in general ) is just pants now and very disappointing for much of it
Something has gone wrong somewhere along the line

Burts Bees Perppermint shower gel.
Wish I'd stocked up loads!!!

People kill spiders, some don't. You're hardly going to convince somone not too by being P.A.

the sugar levy in fizzy drinks. I can't use any fake sweetener but the upside is the wonderful Fever Tree.

We use fever tree drinks a lot at work and i find their lemonade and ginger ale absolutely vile! No sweetness at all.

Martiniolives · 15/11/2024 09:50

Its a newer product, but Ramona's heavenly hummus

It was so delicious and creamy but still thick. My family easily got through a couple tubs a week - extra plus was the larger size and fully resealable lid not some flimsy plastic thing!!

They've recently changed the recipe and now it is grainy and horrible tasting. I checked their social medias and a lot of other people are in their comments asking why they did this so I did actually reach out asking them to change the recipe back. I hope they listen to everyone and change it back asap!

Dr Pepper. Was my go to pop in the 80s, next to Pepsi, but no longer. The bitterness is too much for me

Cadbury’s chocolate. I still eat it but…it’s just a bit sadder

I’ve heard that Twirls, wispas and flakes still taste more like the original Cadburys. Have you tried those?

I've gone over to Dark Milk Chocolate, Tesco's is nice as is M&S - it's like a different kind of thing altogether but more like Cadbury's used to be....

MrsRobert · 15/11/2024 09:55

Not being able to get buttered popcorn in the cinema. Need to go to North America now for that.

LadyGabriella · 15/11/2024 09:55

Terry’s Chocolate Orange are a massive disappointment now. All concave segments and very waxy greasy choc.
We used to get them every year at Xmas in the 90s and the segments were solid and substantial and proper choc tasting.
Such sad little balls now. We dont bother with them anymore.

RanchRat · 15/11/2024 09:56

Dior's Diorissimo no longer has a scent at all. I have used it for many years and am gutted.

Benefit skin care range did a great facial ' scrub ' which was discontinued and nothing else is as good.

Alpha-h micro scrub is superb, expensive but QVC often do a duo for the same price as one bottle at the likes of M&S…might be worth a try and with QVC you can try it and send it back if it doesn’t suit ❤️

StrangerThings73 · 15/11/2024 09:58

Crespos Mixed Olives in a foil pack - seem to have completely disappeared!

GoneTooFarAgain · 15/11/2024 09:58

Oat crunchies cereal - and Chex... they just don't really seem to sell them anywhere these days. If you google, oat crunchies seem to be oat pillows but you can never actually find them in a supermarket. I still think about them every single time I walk down the cereal aisle...

Kasih Hummus Tahini. Though it's in tetra packs

Cauldron sausages (vegetarian) the changed the recipe. Fortunately there was so many complaints, the changed it beck, then a few months later changed them again. Fortunately this time they're edible, but they're no where near as good as the originals. 😪😪😪

They used to do a mushroom burger. It was so good, but I haven’t seen them for years now 🙁.

Barney16 · 15/11/2024 10:00

Ritz crackers. Too small and not salty enough. I was so disappointed with the last box.

Peopleinmyphone · 15/11/2024 10:01

The pink grapefruit range from the bodyshop being discontinued.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls shampoo and conditioner, the moment they put Rose Hip oil in it I had to stop using it as it made my curls lanky.

Haven't found anything that works as well since(please Aussie don't change yours). There seems to be this obsession that everyone with curly hair has afro hair or really dry hair so everything is aimed at them.

Apologies if it’s already been posted but Umberto Gianni’s pink range for curls (I get it from Boots and we only have a small branch so hopefully it’s easy to find) is great for my curly but oily hair!

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 15/11/2024 10:03

The ubiquity of Fevertree tonic in pubs. I'd rather not have a G&T than drink Fevertree so I opt for sparkling water instead.

The only chocolate I eat now is Lindor or Hotel Chocolat, all the other formerly delicious brands are made with palm oil and just not worth eating.

I'm terrified of spiders but don't kill them. A living thing shouldn't be killed to appease my irrational fear.

Pretty sure after 8s are also smaller squares now too.

That's probably not not a bad thing considering what they've done to the sausages!!
