What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

My toddler doesn’t like the sickly synthetic strawberry flavour of Calpol. Tesco always had an own-brand version which was cherry flavoured and she took that no bother. They’ve now changed theirs to strawberry too 🙄

lowlight · 15/11/2024 09:09

discontinuing the Topic bar - was my absolute favourite treat from the garage
Change in special K recipe
chocolate change or whatever has happened to creme eggs

We still get the cherry one! I’m sure they still do it

(I always think the baby in the front looks creepy) 😂

Mimosa Pour Moi is my lost perfume. I treasure my last bottle

Rose perfume by Paul Smith .
I can't get it anywhere. I only wore this and gave it to my friends for their presents . They all loved it and can't find it now either

Oh yes, this too. I’ve tried so many other rose perfumes but none are quite the same. Maybe Rosa Amira by Guerlain …

Waitrose seem to have discontinued their frozen Thai curry sauce 🙁

Grassgreenblue · 15/11/2024 09:13

Coty did a perfume years ago called wild musk
It was the scent of my teenage years-i adored it
Gone-one christmas it was in superdrug and the next it wasn't
I have looked on the Internet but the reviews say its not the same

Toffee crisp ice lollies-i used to go to asda just to stock up
Went one day and they where gone-never seen them since
Even our ice cream van stopped selling them

Topics
Tooty fruities
Caramac (can still buy in home bargains but once they've gone, that will be it)
Softfruits-i loved these and suddenly sainsburys stopped doing them,so i tried everywhere else
Never found them again

When my local shop stopped selling Loxley Farm cottage cheese. Really hard to find in the big supermarkets. It’s how cottage cheese should taste. The other brands are thin or gritty and sour.

1000000%! Why is it so hard to find :(

Good thing you’re not phobic of birds. Or small children. Could be carnage.

I always get anxious when I'm driving and a police car goes by... a quick squirt of Cop-B-Gone would sort me out...

Edited

Aww maybe it’s just my local Tesco, the cherry one is no longer available to order on their app, and instore they only had this new strawberry formula. Agree about the baby on the box 😂

The new bottle on Armarni She is so cheap looking I almost sent it back thinking it was fake and less than 100ml. I don't want that hideous thing on my chest of drawers. It makes me sad just looking at the thing.

Gone is the nice sleek gold metal bottle that had been used since day 1, replaced by insipid plastic deodorant looking bottle with a lid.

Byzance by Rochas for me. One of those rare finds where I just kept sniffing myself... 😢

The new way of packaging mince is vile. Mince and chicken have deteriorated so much.

Probably due to the evermore crappy lives the animals are living! I don’t buy chicken for this very reason. It’s just so unappetising 🤮

There used to be a Nestle cereal in a light brown box, the cereal was a bit like thin bran flakes and it had small lumps of crushed nuts in a crispy sugar coating, and sliced almonds. Loved it.

Oh my goodness yes. I loved this

Figgy Pudding St Eval candles! Genuinely gutted by the loss of those.

ilovesushi · 15/11/2024 09:19

I think Marmite has changed in the last few years. It used to give a really hit. Now it is gunky and a bit bland. Maybe covid deadened my tastebuds, but I don't love it the way I used to.

Mini hash brown waffles being discontinued. They were soooo good!

@WahWahWahs I felt the exact same way when I opened a tin of Quality Street the other day. Everything seemed to have hint of orange and the purple one was gone Easter Sad.

I agree. They all have a strange tang. And the purple one was the best one.

Mine are perfume gripes.

Estee Lauder Spellbound smells completely different, like a shadow of its former self. So disappointing.

Givenchy Eau de Givenchy discontinued but xyz is the same…. No. It isn’t.

Perfume … so many old greats changed beyond recognition. Dior, Chanel, Guerlain, all their incredible older scents have been reformulated to comply with the ridiculous EU rules on possible allergens. As Luca Turin said, they could just have a disclaimer “not to be used directly on skin” and those who aren’t allergic to Oakmoss etc, could still wear them. I feel they have stolen my memories.

When I was a child you just turned up at the surgery and sat in the waiting room until it was your turn.

Yes, moving along the row of chairs until it was your turn to see one of the two doctors who you knew. They did home visits too.

Removing Worchester sauce french fries. To be honest that broke my heart and Im still not over it.

I found some multipacks of Worcestershire flavour French fries in Poundland last week! I bought a lot of them…
