What side of the bed do you sleep on?

In relation to your bedroom door?
I need help to settle a debate with a friend.
I say most men sleep by the door, and most women away from. Could be sexist claptrap but I think I'm onto something.

Thats what we’ve always done too.

Always nearest the door. And if we go in a hotel, we swap sides so I am still nearest the door.

Away

I sleep closer to the door leading onto the patio, further away from the door leading into the rest of the house.

I slept next to the door with my ex husband - first, so I was closer to my babies (of course, he didn't hear them wake) and second, in case someone broke in (he would have sent me anyway). Now I'm not married, I now sleep star-fished in the middle of the bed :-D

Nearest the door

I sleep nearest the door and always have. I can't bear to sleep away from the door.

I'm nearer to the bedroom door because it is the side closest to the ensuite bathroom and I have to get up at least once in the night lol

Whatever room we're in i will be nearest the door. I need wees more frequently

I sleep closer to the door and have done in all 3 houses we've lived in.

My DP sleeps on the right side of the bed. In his house that is nearest the door, but when we've been away it hasn't always been. He said he can't sleep on the other side, no idea why. I don't have a preference, so it doesn't bother me that he wants the right side.

Whichever one of us goes to bed first chooses.

I sleep closer to the door. And I have the chair with my back to the wall looking out at restaurants.

Nooo in your own home?! You don't have a side? Or your own pillows? We very much swap sides somewhere new, but then that side becomes 'ours' whilst we're there.

I have the top half of the bed, the cat has the bottom half. It works for us.

Away from the door because it's the only side that will accommodate a nightstand. I've outlived a beloved pet and a DH to get that side of the bed

I sleep closest to the door. Now I think about it, it was the other way round pre-DC, and changed when we rearranged the room after moving my eldest into his own room, so it made sense as I was more likely to be up in the night.

Oh, I did sleep furthest from the door when we were in the rather iffy flat. That was just a tiny studio and I figured that he could get shot/stabbed first.

Nearest the door but in our old house it was same side and that was furthest from the door. I always sleep on the same side whether DH is there or not and did so before meeting him. I wouldn't like to sleep in the middle, too far to get out and too far from lamp, clock, glasses, book etc.

2 ex husbands, I've always slept closest to the door in the numerous houses we've lived in. No rhyme or reason or conscious planning on my part. Maybe they were cowards 😂

I sleep diagonally or starfish in the middle.

I sleep on the right. Always.
