What side of the bed do you sleep on?

In relation to your bedroom door?
I need help to settle a debate with a friend.
I say most men sleep by the door, and most women away from. Could be sexist claptrap but I think I'm onto something.

Always on the left for me

I’ve always slept on the left side regardless of where the door is!

Though we stayed at a friends this weekend and my daughter bed blow up bed could only fit the right side of the room - so I slept that side. Never again we both woke up with painful shoulders. Neither of us could get comfy!!

Also, can you only sleep on one side of your body? Or are you an on your back or a freakish stomach sleeper?

At home I sleep closest to the door, because that's where 'my' side of the bed is. Hotels or visiting it'll depend on where the bed is situated. I'm always to the right of DH as that's the way we like it.

Oh and I once met somebody who would only sleep on the floor. It never went anywhere as a relationship.

On the left as you lie in bed, always. Based on houses we've lived in, that's farthest, farthest, farthest, nearest, no difference (the door is central to the bottom of the bed).

I sleep on the left, which is nearest the door but I always sleep on the left.

I sleep closest to the door. But that's also because it's closest to the en suite and I have a neurological condition that involves urinary urgency, so I need to be able to get to the loo FAST!

I always sleep on the left side of the bed. At home, in our room, that's nearest the door. If we're sleeping in the spare room for any reason (decorating) then it's furthest from the door. I'm not bothered about proximity to the door.

Always closest to the door. I feel panicked otherwise! I've lived in several houses so it's switched between left and right. But have never been further away from the door. Even sleeping alone I will sometimes end up in the middle but again always start on the door side.

Furthest from the door but I was closer to the door in our old bedroom. We always sleep on the same side of the bed no matter where the door is.

I always sleep on the right so in the last two houses I have been further away from the door, in our first house I was closest to the door.

Always on the left as you look at the bed from the bottom, happens to be nearer the foot and crucially the en suite!

Never heard of men sleeping nearer the door, why? I'm far quicker and better at self defence quite frankly due to dealing with an unpredictable autistic dd

In our current house I sleep away from the door. Previously I've always slept closest to the door.

I've only ever managed to sleep on my stomach on the beach. Or maybe when I was a baby in the bum in the air position. Don't your lovely lady lumps get in the way?

My lady lumps are quite small but I still can't do it.

This completely blows my mind. What about all your stuff on your bed side table? I always sleep on the left of the bed as you look at it, and would even if alone. Our bed is too big to sleep in the middle of it, you'd have to do at least two rolls to get to a side to get out...

Nearest the door, but only because in our first house my husband slept by the door and this house it’s the other way round and feels really weird to swap sides after 13 years!

I always sleep on the left hand side of the bed. In our current house the right side is near the door but it wasn't in our previous home.
Same when we stay in hotels. I'm always on the left.

Firther to which side of your body you sleep, some people say that you shouldn't sleep on one side because it gives you wrinkly cleavage and one side of your face will age faster from being schmuched up on the pillow like that photograph of an American truck driver who never wore sunscreen and looked twenty years older on the open window side of his face.
