What side of the bed do you sleep on?

In relation to your bedroom door?
I need help to settle a debate with a friend.
I say most men sleep by the door, and most women away from. Could be sexist claptrap but I think I'm onto something.

Always the right side which is away from the door but wouldn't be in another room for example

We always sleep on the same side of the bed regardless. As it happens it's me nearest the door in our current house, but in our old house it was DH.

I always sleep on the left. At home, I’m closest to the door, but that might not be the case on holiday.

I sleep on the left if I’m the only one in the bed too.

I am a total sprawler, there is no such thing as a side of the bed, I just flail around until I feel comfortable. Starfish have nothing on me.

In our first home H was closest to the door.

For the last 31 years I've been closest to the door - still left side of the bed (we only lived in our first home for 6 years).

Wherever I am, whatever bed it is - I always sleep on the left.

Now that H takes himself off to the spare bedroom most nights and I have a massive bed to myself, I still sleep on the precipice of the left hand side of the bed.

Furthest from the door. Though this has nothing to do with the door, and everything to do with having a sloping ceiling on my side, and I am short enough that I don't bang my head on it when I get out of bed, and DH is 6' and would be safer in a crash helmet.

I sleep closer to the door because I sleep on the left. I would also in a hotel. In our old house it was furthest from the door.

What on earth has the door got to do with it? You seem to say man should be nearer the door to protect from burglars but many others want to be nearer the door to presumably wee or escape.

The correct answer is man on the left, woman on the right, as you stand at the foot of the bed looking forward.

Nearest the door so I can get to my DD easier

No sides of the bed for us, so it just depends where we have chosen to sleep that night, our door is at the bottom of the bed, so no one is really closer to the door.

I sleep nearest to the door cos I like being close to the toilet haha! Sounds weird I know but I like being closer to the bathroom for some odd reason!
