Who actually likes fireworks these days?

I know this is another grumpy mumsnet thread, but does anyone actually enjoy fireworks? I feel like such a grump but I’m not fussed at all by them and haven’t been in years!

I love them but sadly my town no longer does a public display 🥲

yes i love them but then i hate dogs 🤷🏻‍♀️ seems to be all the dog owners that hate them.

also i went to a fireworks display at the weekend and it was absolutely packed so obviously people do like them

I love them, but only at small-medium size local displays. Huge displays or mucking about in back gardens setting them off at any time of the night I absolutely hate. If I could have my way, fireworks would only be allowed at organised displays and not on general sale to the public at any time.

Not me these days, I expect a lot of children enjoy them. I do like the smell though, it brings back memories of being a child.

Do you also hate all wildlife and farm animals or ex military who have PTSD?

its not just dogs who can be absolutely petrified from fireworks.

I absolutely love them but around here we don’t get many people messing around with them at random times so maybe that impacts my opinion. I’m in a country where they’re more of a summer thing, and wildfires are a real risk so maybe that’s why nobody really sets them off in their gardens anymore. They used to when I was a kid but it’s rare now.

I really like them! I have a dog and cat and both of them seem totally oblivious to fireworks, bizarrely.

I love them. And I now have a dog that isn't scared either! The smell makes me so happy.

I used to love them but where I live we seem to get them all the time, all year round, festivals, celebrations, weddings, parties, often just random kids messing around. I'm just really sick of hearing the regular bangs and we've had a couple of fires from fireworks being set off too close to properties. People can't be trusted to manage them safely.
If they were only at organised licensed displays they'd be safe and less frequent and then I'd enjoy them more.

I like them and enjoy seeing them from my windows at this time of year.

I love them. Always have. I am autistic and gather some people think that means I should be upset by them! But they are beautiful and make me happy. I know lots of people loathe them of course, but I enjoy them.

Anyway, I feel sorry for all the scared animals. Maybe we could develop silent fireworks. So you can appreciate them visually without scaring thousands of animals unnecessarily. I have no idea why we still have them.

I’m very lucky that my dog is ok but so many are utterly terrified.

Oh and I’ve never liked them! Even when I didn’t have a dog.
