Do people use teapots in real life?

I see them all the time on insta reels and in cafes obv but haven’t seen people using them in real life for ages. I’d love a nice one for myself but I think it migjt just be a waste of money and will never get used. Do you have one and use it? Any recommended ones in terms of practicality but also beauty? I quite like the clear glass ones or the black japanese looking style, not sure what they are called.

MIL does. I like the idea but it’s one more thing to store and wash up.

TheFlis · 29/10/2024 16:50

My aunt does every day, she can actually taste the difference if you just make it in a mug. We have one but only use it when
we have guests.

BigDahliaFan · 29/10/2024 16:50

I used one I got in a charity shop that is china and vaguely art deco. Gets used more in the summer when I make fresh herb tea. I'll often use leaf tea on a weekend and make a pot for breakfast so I don't have to get up for seconds.

It tastes better.

We do! Not always but sometimes on a weekend, especially if we have visitors round, we will have a pot of tea. It definitely tastes better from a teapot in my opinion!

tobee · 29/10/2024 16:51

I use one all the time. It just tastes a lot better made that way than in a cup.

I like the London Pottery 6 cup teapot. I have one in red and in cobalt blue. I have a small one also.

I use one. It’s great for wfh days.
mine is le crueset.

Miley1967 · 29/10/2024 16:51

Only when I host an afternoon tea ! I like my tea really weak and always find if I make it in a pot it ends up too strong.

blackcatsblackcats · 29/10/2024 16:51

I love getting a pot of tea in a cafe but am not sure I’d bother at home. They are lovely though

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 29/10/2024 16:52

I do. I love a proper pot of tea. It really does taste much nicer than a tea bag
I'm just far too lazy to make one that often.

Anicecumberlandsausage · 29/10/2024 16:53

I do. It's one with a metal insert for loose tea. I use it for my first cuppa in the morning because it brews and tastes better than teabags.

Clearinguptheclutter · 29/10/2024 16:53

Every day! Dh turns up his nose if I make him a cup of tea without using it.
ours isn’t attractive at all just a stainless steel one which keeps the heat far better than a ceramic one

thisoldcity · 29/10/2024 16:54

I use one every day - for me and dh every morning it gives us each a mug full, then a top up, then (for me) another top up. I like more than one mugful in the morning. I also have a tea cosy to keep it warm. I always have a Le Creuset teapot, bright colour usually and the rounded style. I find it pours well with no drips. We break things a lot in our house so I've been through probably 6 or 7 but now I buy them on Vinted and they aren't too pricey that way.

DaftyLass · 29/10/2024 16:54

I have three (different size) and yes, you can taste the difference, same as you can with different temperatures of water.

Yea from a pot is much nicer, and the teapot goes through the dishwasher so not a big deal to clean

Namechangedasouting987 · 29/10/2024 16:54

My mum uses her teapot every breakfast, but with tea bags in. I have a big Denby pot I use when I have lots of people to make tea for. More economical than a tea bag each! I don't use one every day.

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 29/10/2024 16:55

Do not get a glass teapot if you have stone counters.

OliviaRodrighost · 29/10/2024 16:55

My mum used to use one all the time until they got a Quooker tap. It was what we always used to do after eating our tea. Retire to the living room with a pot of tea to watch the news. And my dad would (try to) make us laugh by putting the tea cosy on his head while mum tutted.

MarkingBad · 29/10/2024 16:55

We do every day. It's a glass one we had from Ikea

sophi1995 · 29/10/2024 16:56

We do but only for visitors.

Floralnomad · 29/10/2024 16:56

We do and both of my sisters do . I have quite large le crueset tea pots and they go in the dishwasher .

VeilFlowyLace · 29/10/2024 16:58

We used to, and started again, but it uses more tea bags, there is less tea in them now, and it was always cold, as no one warmed up the teapot first.

We stopped again.

TossedSaladandSE · 29/10/2024 17:00

Only if I'm making tea for more than 2 people then yes

SenatorBiggs · 29/10/2024 17:01

Yea I have one of the glass ones sitting on my desk right now!

Boiledeggandtoast · 29/10/2024 17:02

Always, and I warm the pot. We have 4 different sized teapots.

TeaandHobnobs · 29/10/2024 17:05

I’m only using one on holiday currently because the mugs for tea are small (at home I normally make a massive mug).
I only use mine at home for loose leaf tea, and usually only herbal… I can’t seem to figure out how to make decent loose leaf tea with my normal black tea brand.

honcle · 29/10/2024 17:06

Yes, have a large and smaller stainless steel teapots. Used daily for well over 30 years now. We use M&S extra strong loose leaf tea and everyone who has a cuppa at our house comments on how nice it is. A good cup of tea is the ultimate relaxation beverage!
