Do people use teapots in real life?

I see them all the time on insta reels and in cafes obv but haven’t seen people using them in real life for ages. I’d love a nice one for myself but I think it migjt just be a waste of money and will never get used. Do you have one and use it? Any recommended ones in terms of practicality but also beauty? I quite like the clear glass ones or the black japanese looking style, not sure what they are called.

Always.
I just enjoy it tbh and use leaf tea too so it works for me.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 29/10/2024 18:13

I use a teapot every day and have done for many years. The tea tastes fresher out of a pot. I also use loose tea and prefer the flavour over teabags.

Anyone remember Snapes tea and coffee shop in Wolverhampton? It was that shop that got me started on tea back in the 1980s.

We have a lovely big Burleigh teapot which we get out most Sunday mornings when when we have a big unhealthy breakfast (bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and loads of toast) and the need for multiple cups of tea. Both DDs (14 and 10) who don’t normally drink breakfast tea will have a couple of cups.

I also have a small Japanese teapot for green tea which I use each day and a small stainless steel teapot which I use for other fancy / flavoured teas which I seem to get given at faster rate than I can drink them.

This is mine. Also the only one I've ever had which doesn't spill, drip or generally pour tea everywhere. It goes solely into the mug. Brilliant.

Yes, my mum gave me a small two mug teapot when I was a student and it's still going strong 35 years later. Nothing like a cuppa brewed in a teapot 🫖

SerenityNowSerenityNow · 29/10/2024 18:19

We do ( or more specifically my DH)
He uses it for loose leaf tea. We have a lovely pale pink Le Crueset one

cherrysonata · 29/10/2024 18:19

I have a beautiful teapot and I use it several times a day. One mug is never enough.

OneInEight · 29/10/2024 18:20

dh and ds1 do but that's because they are addicted to tea and one cup is never enough.

viques · 29/10/2024 18:20

I do, it’s quite small but will easily produce two and a bit small mugs of tea from one teabag. Perfect for days when one cup just isn’t enough!

viques · 29/10/2024 18:21

Omg , the “ one cup is never enough “ gang are having a psychic moment. must be the T.

Els1e · 29/10/2024 18:22

Yes, we do. Tea definately tastes better. I don't know why but assume more room to swoosh around in

ElaborateCushion · 29/10/2024 18:23

I have one in the cupboard that comes out when my parents arrive and goes back in the cupboard when they leave!

They drink tea like it's going out of fashion though and you can normally get about 6 cups of tea out of 3 bags in a teapot, topping it up!

When they're not visiting though, I use loose leaf tea in an individual strainer in a cup. I save the posh stuff for myself! Shhh - don't tell them!

wonkylegs · 29/10/2024 18:23

We don't use it day to day but when we have lots of people here or even just my MIL who basically has a never ending cup of tea it gets lots of use
Ours is a lovely modern Scandinavian one with a wooden lid that we got for a wedding present (18yrs ago 😳)

Growlybear83 · 29/10/2024 18:28

I quite often use a teapot, and so do most of my friends.

RainyDaysAndGlumDays · 29/10/2024 18:32

This thread is making me feel better. Currently on a cottage holiday - I packed our teapot after a previous holiday stay didn't have one. Pleased to report that this time it wasn't needed as the cottage already had one in the cupboard.

Knittedfairies2 · 29/10/2024 18:33

Our stainless steel teapot was a wedding gift and it has been used multiple times a day for nearly 50 years. I dislike tea made by throwing the bag in a mug; it does taste different.

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/10/2024 18:34

We have a teapot and several back-ups for when this one breaks! Loose tea, tea cosy, all the home comforts. Years ago DD bought me a lovely silver caddy spoon with a looped handle, so that hangs up near the tins of tea. That is an important part of the tea ritual for me.

We also have a tea trolley!

NoraLuka · 29/10/2024 18:35

This thread has made me want to use a teapot for regular tea. I have one but it’s mostly decorative, they’re not really a thing where we live. Occasionally a visitor will spot it and ask for a cup of teapot tea for the novelty value, even if they never usually drink tea!

Yeahnoforsure · 29/10/2024 18:37

I also use a teapot, I love the way tea tastes from it, nicer than plunking a bag in a cup.
Course bag in cup is for days when I'm rushing off somewhere, otherwise, I think it's really relaxing to pour steaming, steeped tea from the spout of a teapot into nice cups, and share the moment with family or friends.

AutumnLeaves24 · 29/10/2024 18:39

No where I drink tea uses a tea pot. I need to get new friends 😂

I keep contemplating getting one, but remembering all the dripping ones over the years puts me off.

i don't want a boring one, but I feel that ups the chances of a dripper!!

@ButtSurgery

i love yours. Any idea where it was from??

Crucible · 29/10/2024 18:41

Yes it's huge and I make gravy in it at Christmas.

MaggieBsBoat · 29/10/2024 18:41

My DH and I have a pot of tea over breakfast together every day before work, while we sit and chat and tell each other how sexy each other is.

DappledThings · 29/10/2024 19:11

I do. Big Le Creuset one. It goes in the dishwasher occasionally. I like a pot in the mornings because it's less effort than making a 2nd (or third) cup

FannyCradocksDoughnut · 29/10/2024 19:15

I treat myself to a proper cuppa brewed properly in my China teapot and cup and saucer a few times a week. I get a lot of pleasure from this little ritual even if DH finds it hilarious 😂

Tea tastes better out of one. Make with real leaves, not teabags. I use a small enamel WWII one that belonged to dh's grandparents.
