Share some historical MN dilemmas and stories.
What kind of posts do you think we would be reading if MN was around in the good old days of yore?

This year's rye crop was blighted with ergot. WIBU to hunt deer in the King's Forest? I haven't been caught before, so it would only be having my nose and ears cropped, but the wife and 9 surviving bairns can't eat just turnips till next harvest!

Whyever not? A single turnip feeds 15 of my youngest including the strapping five foot six lads for at least a week.

SinnerBoy · 29/10/2024 19:15

😁

Saw this on RightMove.
Be honest.
Will 78 bathrooms be OK for a family of 3?
I'm tempted to convert one of them into a laundry room.
Will I regret having only 77 bathrooms?

How do I make my daughter marry the Widower Farmer Brown? He’d be a good match for her with 20 acres. His wife’s dead nearly a year now so time he married again. My daughter is 15 so no spring chicken. She says she doesn’t like him & his breath stinks. What has that got to do with the price of pig swill?

BetteDavisChin · 29/10/2024 19:29

My DH wants to have another bath when his last one was only five months ago!

AIBU to suspect he's getting his conjugal needs met elsewhere?

Citrusandginger · 29/10/2024 19:32

AIBU unreasonable to think that if DH's cousin didn't want to be put on a ship to Australia, he shouldn't have stolen that pig?

Still, it's better than my neighbour's friend. Her DD has got notions of going to the war in Crimea to nurse the soldiers. I mean, that's what common women do, not ladies.

photodiva · 29/10/2024 19:35

I've only recently dyed my best hessian dress yellow, (peeling all those onions was a nightmare) and now I find yellow is so last year! AIBU to say to DH I need a new one or just use woad over the top?

Sorry, should this be in style and fashion?

My DH says he's going on Crusade with King Richard and may be away for a couple of years, possibly more. AIBU to suspect this is yet another lad's holiday like the trip to Aquitaine last year? He says he's "entitled to his hobbies", but they all involve fighting.

I'll be so glad when someone invents the bicycle.

That's very outing @Uricon2
I think you should report your poste to MNHQ.

Anyway. I suggest you get your pigeons in a row.
I remember your other threades about your DH and his mate King Richard.

What can I make with two bushels of amaranth and an egg? It's my turn to make the Samhain meal for the village.
Also, I thought it might make the party a bit more fun if I added some herbs and mushrooms for flavour, to the small beer and mead, what's your favourite Samhain drink?

Paisleydad · 29/10/2024 19:43

Today I go in back of cave and Ug looking at cave painting of other woman. He blow out fire but I saw that one of them was wife of friend from hunting gang.

Should I make him sleep outside tonight?

Thank you, I didn't think of that.

If he goes though I'm going to pledge the allegiance of the castle to Prince John, who verily has great lawyers who can advise about a Papal annulment.

AIBU to turn down a marriage proposal from King Henry? His wives don't seem to have great life expectancy.

I'm so sorry @Paisleydad .
I'm just catching up and have read your other poste about Ug disrespecting your dietary needs.
And now this.

I don't normally jump on the LTB bandwagon so quickly but I think it really is time to get your pterodactyls in a row.

I did not notice Mistress Gertrude walking by with a cockerel under her arm as I threw the slops from the window. She looked flummoxed and so did the cockerel. I did cry 'gardyloo' beforehand. I do not think I need to apologise. AIBU?

My DH Og do same last year. Every day he blow out fire but I see he looking at painting of other woman. In cave painting she wear fancy leopard skin, front lumps perky. Next thing I find him send smoke signal to her cave. Is slippery slope. I sad for you :(

How many wives has he had already? If he’s had five or more, you’re probably OK. But make sure whoever does your portrait uses ALL the filters.

For how long should I leave my unruly DC locked in ye cupboard under ye stairs? My MIL says I should just beat them soundly but I want to try a more trendy approach.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 29/10/2024 19:55

I heard tell that the naughty steppe is more effective Mistress Coconut.

Style and Beauty

Anyone else craving colour?

Look, I was as happy as anyone to see Charlie get his head chopped off (made a lovely family day out of it - all 10 kids loved the show but that's another thread).

But 6 months on and as chic as monochrome is I'm sooo done with Puratin fashion.

I've got some lovely dresses I dyed myself in autumnal shades that I just can't wear anymore and it makes me want to cry.

Anyone else want Charlie mark 2 back and get rid of that boring style vacuum bastard Cromwell?

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/10/2024 19:57

@ErrolTheDragon I heard that learning to reade and wryte is the latest thing. There's a man in Bristole who has opened a schoole just for girls. It is 1634, not 1534 after all.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/10/2024 19:58

Should I take my little 'uns to a cow pox party ? I heard cow pox protects from small pox but I really don't fancy nursing all 15 of the little buggers while they recover?

Is this the fella of whom you speake?
I found his profile on Plenty of Trout, and you're right, it doesn't bode well.
I also heard <whispers> his first wife was his brother's widow!! 🫢

I don’t hold with ye new gentle parenting. Beat ye child with a rod with one strike for each year & 2 extra for good measure.

UsernameNameUser · 29/10/2024 20:02

Would I be-ith so unreasonable to suggest that the neighbor child’s mother, of whom I see outside the church gates before the children’s service, is but a witch? During the post-service collection, I happened to notice signs of bitch-craft. Ahem, excuse me, witch-craft.

CheshireCat1 · 29/10/2024 20:02

My jar of leeches have escaped and I can’t find them anywhere AIBU to use red hot cups on my husbands bits.
