I'll start: Natalie Haynes Stands Up For The Classics. Hilariously funny and I've learned so much, she's brilliant.

Anyone been so impressed with a podcast they'd like to recommend it?

You’re dead to me and Lady Killers

mdinbc · 27/10/2024 22:24

Some of my list:
Dressed - The history of fashion
Q with Tom Power - Canadian entertainment. Tom does a good interview and really gets people talking, although sometimes the guests are a bit obscure.
Wiser Than Me - Julia Louis Dreyfuss (Elaine from Seinfeld) interviews a mostly older crowd of wise women.
History Extra - even though I'm not from UK

I don't like true crime podcasts, and mostly listen at night when I'm drifting off, so need light and entertaining.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/10/2024 22:26

Fall of Civilisations.

Sussurations · 27/10/2024 22:26

The Rest is History. I also like Casefile.

Alan Partridge - From the Oasthouse

Wouldbedriver · 27/10/2024 22:27

In Moscow’s Shadow by Mark Galleoti, though it does get quiet obscure

Wouldbedriver · 27/10/2024 22:27

Quite obscure

Mischance · 27/10/2024 22:28

Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth. Some very interesting interviewees and they are encouraged to try and recall first memories - very interesting.

sprigatito · 27/10/2024 22:28

Ooh, I haven't heard of some of these...am going to make a list 😊

I agree Lady Killers is fabulous.

I like Cautionary Tales by Tim Harford.

Valuable lessons in human psychology and mistakes people have made, especially with cognitive biases.

Each episode she focuses on either a mythical or a historical figure from Ancient Greece or Rome. My favourite episodes are Sappho and Ovid.

Three bean salad. Waffly nonsense but so very funny and entertaining. It's my favourite.

My other top ones are: Help I sexted my boss and Off Menu.

I love radio show podcasts, just a round up of all the talky bits without music; Johnny Vaughn Radio X, Jason Manford Absolute Radio, Ed Gamble & Matthew Crosby Radio X are my go to every week.

I listen to podcasts all week at work, they keep me company whilst I wfh. Like earwigging conversation in the office.
