I'll start: Natalie Haynes Stands Up For The Classics. Hilariously funny and I've learned so much, she's brilliant.

Anyone been so impressed with a podcast they'd like to recommend it?

Not Without My Sister - hilarious, two Irish sisters chatting.

Have you listened to My Therapist Ghosted Me? Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally, can be very random at times but the two of them chatting shit is very funny!

bendmeoverbackwards · 28/10/2024 13:07

I like chatty podcasts although I’m trying to listen to the more educational ones.

My fave is the Wittering Whitehalls

Parenting Hell - the guest last Friday was hilarious (chef Gino something)

I listen to a lot of podcasts, mainly crime and politics. Most recently Kill List was particularly good. If you didn't know it was true you'd think it was made up. Great stuff

Kill List was good wasn't it!!

Crash course pods: the universe - absolutely fascinating, the story of the big bang basically. Told through conversation between a novelist who knows very little about science and an astrophysicist. There are some truly amazing moments and the storytelling is wonderful.

For general interesting mixed topics I enjoy Stuff you should know and You're Wrong About.

Lateral, for a quiz/comedy mix (more puzzle than comedy but it's both).

If Books Could Kill is a great one if you enjoy snarky type humour.

Favourite parenting one is either Motherkind or Raising Good Humans. Just consistently brilliant, both of them. Not preachy or annoying.

And for pregnancy/birth/newborn stuff I adore The Midwives Cauldron, to the point I still listen despite having finished breastfeeding and not planning any more babies.

SqueakyDinosaur · 28/10/2024 17:32

As well as several mentioned here (Natalie Haynes is my all-time favourite) I also like Sideways (Matthew Said, BBC) and Revisionist History (Malcolm Gladwell), both about different ways of looking at things, and also Shedunnit (Caroline Crampton), about Golden Age detective fiction.

Letsgotitans · 28/10/2024 17:41

Yeah I love this one, really enjoyed the George Michael and Mariah Carey episodes, also the random one’s like Action Park.

I really enjoy Necronomipod

Will check out your recommendation. The Mariah episodes are classic, was never a big fan but HCS filled me with admiration for what she'd overcome. And the Eminem thing, had no idea!

My absolute favourite used to be the high low but now that's long gone shameless has replaced that for me.

usernother · 28/10/2024 20:15

I listen to podcasts every day on Spotify and on BBC Sounds. My favourite was the very first one I listened to back in 2017 - Dirty John, and I also loved the epic drama, Home Front.
Currently I enjoy Americast, The Trial of Lucy Letby, Good Bad Billionaire, scamfluencers, and Diss and Tell.

My podcast listening is pretty low brow and this has only been reinforced by my excitement at hearing there’s a sweet valley podcast! I’ve just downloaded some for my journey to the office tomorrow 😂 when I wfh I usually have one playing, same for going out for a walk on my own.

SqueakyDinosaur · 28/10/2024 21:09

I can't have podcasts when I'm working or I just start listening to them and work grinds to a halt . Same with music - it has to be something instrumental that I can't sing along to.

pambeesleyhalpert · 28/10/2024 21:12

My therapist ghosted me. I just love them

Jenacles · 28/10/2024 21:13
