I'll start: Natalie Haynes Stands Up For The Classics. Hilariously funny and I've learned so much, she's brilliant.

Anyone been so impressed with a podcast they'd like to recommend it?

As a lot of these 'podcasts' mentioned are just rebranded Radio 4 programmes... The Archers 👸

Uncharted with Hannah fry
Is a new find i enjoy. They aren't long which is good for by woefully poor attention span

Unsolved Murders: True Crime Stories. Excellent hosts and great story tellers.

Radio Rental… the paranormal and unusual mysteries as told by those that experienced them.

Another vote for The Dark Paranormal… well-written and host is good at creating an unsettling atmosphere.

I liked season 1 but season 2 felt like they had used up all the good stuff in season 1!

Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth. Some very interesting interviewees and they are encouraged to try and recall first memories - very interesting.

He is such a creep though isn't he?

The Rest is Politics US with Anthony Scaramucci and Katty Kay. Very informative and brings a fresh take to American politics.

I love Hollywood Crime Scene - two sassy LA gals talking about celebrity scandals and gossip from the golden age of Hollywood to the present day, as well as local true crime. They did the Menendez case before the Netflix series dropped just by coincidence - quite illuminating. Some of the stars you don't have to know/like to become invested in, loved their four-parter on Marlon Brando.

Bad Women. The first series is based on The Five by Hallie Rubenhold, the second is about wartime killers, particularly the Blackout Ripper.

PeachBlossom1234 · 27/10/2024 23:22

Help I sexted my boss and shagged married annoyed. I also listen to girls overheard but it’s a bit local to Glasgow.

I am now thinking that I should maybe listen to something a bit higher brow though….

The Infinite Monkey Cage, it's a radio 4 series hosted by Dr Brian Cox, they vary in subjects from mind-blowing quantum physics to simple bees vs wasps.

Diary of A CEO - he interviews different people anyone from nuroscientists to famous athletes to navy seals or motivational speakers with diverse topics from leadership, health, women's issues, issues in society, nutrition etc. always something new and a new perspective.

Absolutely love Uncanny. Also highly recommend Winifrid Robinson's to catch a scorpion about tracking down a notorious people smuggler and
The boy in the woods - heartbreaking story about Ricky Neave.. both have kept me thinking long after I get finished them..

Yeah I love this one, really enjoyed the George Michael and Mariah Carey episodes, also the random one’s like Action Park.

I really enjoy Necronomipod

Wheel of Misfortune!!

Can't recommend it enough, it's hilarious, PLUS makes you feel much better about any embarrassing things you've done. Kind of like therapy, but more fun and affordable.

Alan Partridge - From the Oasthouse

Technically an audiobook written in the form of a podcast, its entirely scripted not freeform.

Pollyanna87 · 28/10/2024 01:06

‘The Mysterious Case of the Gentleman of Heligoland’, which I consider to be the gold standard of true crime. Sublime research by the host.

‘British Scandal’ can be very amusing.
