There are currently quite a few I have lost respect for, who are yours and why??

OP posts:
BloodOfTheRaven · 06/10/2024 13:01

Respect?

Hmm not sure I respect famous people, especially not celebrities. Who have you lost respect for?

HeeseChamwich · 06/10/2024 13:05

David Tennant. I've always loved basically anything he's in (apart from Dr Who) and always thought he seemed like a decent bloke. His stance on women's rights put me right off. Twat.

LadyKenya · 06/10/2024 13:06

Who OP?

OverthinkingOlive · 06/10/2024 13:09

I don't think I respect any of them in the first place 🤔

Giggorata · 06/10/2024 13:10

Sandi Toksvig and the many other slebs who are oblivious or woke.

Perhaps losing respect isn’t the exact description, more like acquiring massive disrespect.

Snuppeline · 06/10/2024 13:11

Elon Musk
David Tennant

SlothOnARope · 06/10/2024 13:13

Gary Lineker and the two people below him on this list (no. 3 for completely different reasons obviously).

Russell brand. For all the many obvious reasons

Igmum · 06/10/2024 13:26

Definitely David Tennant and Sandi Toskvig both of whom I used to admire very much.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 06/10/2024 13:27

You first OP

StressedQueen · 06/10/2024 13:29

What did David Tennant do?

lemonlavendar · 06/10/2024 13:31

Oprah Winfrey, after the Megan and Harry interview.
Holly Willoughby for not sticking by a friend.
Harry and Megan.

coffeesaveslives · 06/10/2024 13:32

Why would anyone respect a total stranger in the first place?

NewGreenDuck · 06/10/2024 13:35

Actually I think I'll wade in and say any 'famous', privileged person who thinks that lecturering those beneath them on the social scale or without their level of income us acceptable.
It's easy to be holier than thou when money is no object.

AdultChildQuestion · 06/10/2024 13:36

Brad Pitt, after the aeroplane incident. And Oprah Winfrey after the Harry and Meghan interview.

ButtSurgery · 06/10/2024 13:37

Holly Willoughby? You mean because of Philip Schofield? The man who brought his paedophile brother around her children when he knew what his brother was? And himself groomed a child until he was of "legal age" then paid him off to keep him quiet?

Nah, Holly Willoughby has been very calm and moderated IMO.

ThisHangryPinkBalonz · 06/10/2024 13:39

Marcus rashford

SabreIsMyFave · 06/10/2024 13:39

Leonardo DiCaprio. I used to think he was pretty cool. Good actor, cares about the environment, and seems to love his mum and his friends.

I have lost respect for him though - over the past decade or so - for dating young women who are young enough to be his daughter. Actually, now pretty much a quarter century younger. He is 50 next month, and the young women he dates (all models) are barely out of their teens when he starts dating them. It's grim.

Even if they are 'beards,' (and I suspect they are!) he could still go for women 10 years older! (Like aged 30 or so!) Yeah I know the young production line models he 'dates' know the score, but it's just gross seeing him with these very young women (who are practically girls.) Turns my stomach tbh, and it's a shame because I used to really like him.

MyOwnToes · 06/10/2024 13:40

Alice Roberts, for being a dick on Twitter and bringing humanism into disrepute while sending her kid to a Christian school.

StressedQueen · 06/10/2024 13:41

Neil Gaiman
Blake Lively

TaraRhu · 06/10/2024 13:41

@ButtSurgery surely Holly Willoughby knew? She then lied through her teeth to protect her own back. The whole country had heard the rumours so I cannot beleive for a second that Holly didn't know. It will come out one day.

Liverpool52 · 06/10/2024 13:42

Michael Sheen after he had the sudden epiphany that the English had been quite shitty to the Welsh in the past and so handed his honour back.

I went to school not far from him and in the same county, we're also similar ages. That history was rammed down our throats constantly so there's no way he got to that age and suddenly realised. He just did it because it was trendy thing to do at the time.

DreamW3aver · 06/10/2024 13:44

What did you respect them for in the first place? Unless you know them personally how do you know that what every they are doing is respect worthy?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 06/10/2024 13:45

Dara o briain for being mr science & it’s all about the evidence & science doesn’t care about your feelings

Whilst saying he finds the gender debate “confusing”

bollocks he does - he’s just a coward

lifeturnsonadime · 06/10/2024 13:45

All of the 'willing to throw women under the bus' ones. Many mentioned above, but in addition the Harry Potter 'child' stars who've turned their back on JKR for supporting women, Stephen King, Phillip Pullman, Margaret Atwood.
