I know landlords get a hard ride on here, but I do wonder about unintended consequences. There are loads of properties for sale around London now, as landlords sell up to avoid the extra tax, but who are people going to rent from?

Rentals are already exorbitant in London, and it's just going to allow the remaining landlords to go for the highest bidder. As usual, it'll be the poorest who lose out.

On the politicians not answering the question thread. He/she has had posts deleted though so maybe MN is on to him/her.

Thank you, it looks as if you’re right and MN has dealt with it.

Surely market forces will then depress the prices of properties, thus allowing more people to buy them ?

In reality, we know they will be snapped up by some consortium or conglomerate to further add to their monopoly on rental properties.

Someone who isn't very clever might well take that as a sign that the free market is actually a bad thing. But they are best ignored. Here's a government contract to help you do just that.

Notonthestairs · 25/10/2024 16:39

"Thank you, it looks as if you’re right and MN has dealt with it."

I saw it and reported it. It may have simply been an unfortunate coincidence, cockup rather than conspiracy, but it would have almost certainly led to unnecessary confusion.

cardibach · 25/10/2024 16:55

I reported too - though both posting style and opinion meant I wasn’t for a second confused! Others might have been though, you’re right.

Anyone wanting to test their latest "AI" loveliness will at some point hit upon the genius idea of using sites like MN as a Turing playground to see how many people their offering can fool.

In fact, if I ran an "AI" company, and none of my acolytes was already doing that, I might wonder about my hiring process.

Yaxley Twat Face has been remanded in custody. According to his Twitter account for a breach of the terrorism act because he refused to give police the code to gain access into his phone. His Twitter also says:

"It is worth noting that Tommy held information of child rape victims on his phone, which he told the police at the time, and as they are 'confidential journalistic sources' they had no right to snoop or gain information about them"

Suspicious minds would suspect he possibly did this deliberately in order to rile people up on the march this weekend.

BIossomtoes · 25/10/2024 17:16

Thank you @cardibach and @Notonthestairs. Silly thing to do, I might get an inflated idea of my own importance!

"Suspicious minds would suspect he possibly did this deliberately in order to rile people up on the march this weekend."

Spot on.

Or provide himself with a cast iron alibi (in his mind) for any criminal activity that might take place on the day.

I doubt he has ever heard of Derek Bentley.

Willowkins · 25/10/2024 17:30

Just looking at the routes of this and other protests in London at the weekend and it looks very dangerous. Let's hope it rains.

In London ? In October ? The day the clocks (or calendars in team Yaxleys case) go back ?

Should be a given.

Mind you today it's been 18C in the midlands. Although it has rained a bit.

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/10/2024 17:36

Haven’t they all got football to watch?

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2024 17:39

SYL can watch Luton from his cell

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/10/2024 17:40

True. I’d imagine a few are already in cells from July too which might reduce the numbers a bit.

Only Brentford, Bromley and Charlton of the London league teams at home tomorrow.

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/10/2024 17:43

Did see Millwall were at Swansea and don’t think Hammers are playing tomorrow.

I am using ‘watch’ in the loosest sense of the word.

Fulham is at Goodison Park in Liverpool

@BIossomtoes have you seen you have a ‘tribute’ nickname on some threads?

I hope if posters are behaving like that they're reported for personal attack and deleted.

West Ham are playing Manchester United at home on Sunday.

I was at London aquatics centre with ds when West Ham played spurs.

No trouble but o didn't realise just how many people poured into football matches until I needed to travel in the opposite direction to them 😂
