Thanks. Shingles rumbles on here. Perdy Cat has been vigilant, following me about and meowing if I left the sofa.

Going back to the Farage on ITv thing.

The problem I have with his "they should shut it down by posting the truth" line is that it encourages people to post any old speculation to force people to reveal the truth.

And that's not to say the truth should be kept from us. But the truth often needs verifying and also processes must then be followed before information is made public.

BIWI · 02/10/2024 17:40

Thanks for the new thread @DuncinToffee

Cat tax, as requested. The OverLord no.1 forcing his way in for cuddles with DH.

Thank you @DuncinToffee for the new thread. I'll attach tax later.

SerendipityJane · 02/10/2024 18:01

Shutting down Farage merely plays into his narrative that he is somehow being censored and "you can't handle the truth".

It's worth noting he (and the rest of the Reform clownshow) has been unable to spout bollocks in the HoC. Yes, if you watch their own cut of "debates" it makes it look like they are "asking the tough questions". But if you then watch the bit that follows, you will see them being handed their arse on a plate by whichever minister they thought they'd target.

This is why it's speculated Farage won't last the 5 years. Especially if he loses his GBNews gig.

Elodie09 · 02/10/2024 18:16

@SerendipityJane Re NF, That was certainly true when I was at PM’sQ
a little while back.

itsgettingweird · 02/10/2024 18:18

Yes that's very true he can monologue (spout a load of crap) but he can't debate.

That's probably why he presents challenge as being shut down.

Attack is a form of defence.

prettybird · 02/10/2024 18:27

Cat tax gathered at the weekend while I was trapped in bed Wink

At the end of the day, it's down to us - "the people".

If as a mass we are happy to be fed the lies and crap spouted by Farage (because they massage our overinflated sense of importance) then no amount of fact checking or holding to account is going to stop people supporting him.

Just look to the US for the logical conclusion to that. People happily excusing Donald Trump crimes they would crucify anyone else for because he makes them "feel good". He really could shoot up a school, and MAGA would rush to tell you the kids deserved it.

Piggywaspushed · 02/10/2024 18:28

Oh here you are!

The idea of taxes is making me sad. DCat Clyde seems to have hurt his leg and is clearly quite a troubled puss.

I am going to leave him another day and then off to vet, via a tax haven and Fort Knox.

BestIsWest · 02/10/2024 18:32

No cats here and DDog is outside so here’s a lovely David Austin Elizabeth rose.

I agree serendipity I've often said here I would be sure even if some PMs or even MPs shot someone live on TV there would be some people who denied it even happened or found justification.

On no. Hope the cat feels better soon. How are you feeling now?

Willowkins · 02/10/2024 18:46

Sadly, little Blanket is under this Oleander. It will have lovely little flowers in the Summer and we'll remember her.

Thanks for asking. OK on the whole. Getting there. Need some blood tests done on Tuesday and will go from there.

Oh , sad news about Blanket. Hope you're OK. What a lovely way to remember.

Willowkins · 02/10/2024 19:12

Blanket was a lovely little cat. She literally lay on my chest and batted my face with her soft paws if I didn't pay her enough attention. It was really tough to say goodbye on the day but I'm comforted that we'd given her a good second half of life.
Meanwhile I'm due to have my staples and other paraphernalia out in the next day or so. Everything is happening at once and I'm so glad for the 6 weeks sick leave.

Saucery · 02/10/2024 19:15

That’s a lot to be dealing with @Willowkins, sending you an Internet Random hug Flowers
