I've just seen Biden introduce president Zelensky as President Putin....its just beyond sad now, surely this has to be a big sway to stepping down?

Honestly, what a load of fuss about nothing. I bet most people have called a colleague by the wrong name or forgotten their name at some point.

With a teleprompter while the whole world watches.

Probably not, no.

It's all a bit Weekend at Bernie's. The actual people running the show just roll this man out, point him in the direction of the cameras, and hope for the best.

The irony being I'd rather have a dead Biden wheeled in 4 years than an alive Trump

Livelovebehappy · 11/07/2024 23:52

The Biden administration have been gaslighting the entire country for months now, dismissing very valid concerns. Kamala Harris is not popular amongst voters, and will most definitely lose if she goes up against Trump. We are teetering on a world war, and that one of the biggest players in this, America, is being run by a weak, frail and incompetent leader is absolutely terrifying for all of us.

It's so interesting to me that politicians are openly saying she won't get elected because she's a woman or she's African American/Asian American. With this mindset the US would never have had the first black American as president. And it's the democrats rejecting a good candidate because they are afraid of prejudice -- but that's allowing prejudice to stop her from running.

Anyway, waiting for this press conference and hoping he steps down today, let alone running in another election.

It's not 'or', it's 'and'. Obama was a man, so that overrode black to a certain extent. She's a black woman. No chance.

It's amazing people are only just becoming terrified of this and weren't 4 years ago.

I do think blaming Jill Biden reeks of misogyny. I'm pretty sure it's his own ego, which seems to have remained intact when much of his cognitive function has sailed away.

But she doesn't help herself when on stage. It does look a bit nannying.

It's not just Jill Biden. All Presidents have their own teams - CoS, advisors etc. who are out of a really good job if he steps down.

Maddy70 · 11/07/2024 23:54

Hes gifting this to trump. Surly his advisors are telling him

True, apparently about 1300 people lost their jobs last Thursday night.

But have they ever mixed up the leaders of two countries at war with one another? I suspect not.

That was seriously incompetent. Biden's brain must be fudge.

If this was an isolated incident, you might have a point. But if you’ve been watching his recent appearances, especially the televised debate he had with Trump last month, you would see it all unfold. This is just something else to add to the long list of mistakes we’ve witnessed.

Humtum · 11/07/2024 23:58

Hilary Clinton couldn't beat Trump, Americans aren't going to vote for Kamala Harris over Trump.

If the Democrats replace Biden with Harris as the candidate, they may as well hand Trump the keys to the White House at the same time.

Kamala wears better suits (I jest)

I hope if Kamala does get the opportunity (as she is doing the 'heavy lifting') that the US have learned to control the amount of external misinformation targeted at voters. Would Hilary have won if outside influences didn't occur? I'm unsure, but I hope Kamala is given the opportunity. Young voters and those that typically don't turn out to vote -could make such a difference given that 14.5 percent of non-voters said that they did not like the candidates or campaign issues, and therefore did not vote in 2020.

Remember Trump calling Tim Cook 'Tim Apple' ? This is a similar slip of the tongue, imo.
I do think Biden is too old though and I'm starting to think Trump will get in after all.
It's going to be interesting seeing what happens with 'Project 25'. I'm sure the land of the free are going to be delighted when the president they deserve implements his totalitarian regime.

SloaneStreetVandal · 11/07/2024 23:58

It's complex (I can't fathom the steps required) to remove him, and at what point is best between now and autumn, but essentially the ideal is that he chooses to step down due to ill health.
Ultimately it seems that every avenue open to them is a gift to Trump. Unless of course Clooney decides he fancies it!

There was some white house aid saying does he have a diagnosis of parkinsons, no, is he taking medication for parkinsons, no etc the other day but didn't clarify why a parkinsons specialist visited the white house earlier in the year. Which is weird to address....if there was nothing to address

He has looked obviously Parkinsonian for years and now the dementia is setting in. Not only is it cruel, it is criminal and terribly dangerous for the rest of the world. Unfortunately Kamala Harris doesn't have the intellect or calibre to take over. They should have found a good, solid candidate 10 years ago so he could retire with dignity.

FloofPaws · 12/07/2024 00:00

George Clooney even put it in a NYT article ... he MIST stand aside ... and FFS someone out of the 330 m Americans must be better than Trump 🤯😱😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I hope you're wrong. She could also motivate a bunch of apathetic voters, inspire young people to get out and vote, bring out more asian, black, woman voters, etc. She's a much more dynamic, exciting choice than Biden and all the Biden/Harris campaign funds should probably transfer to her rather than anyone else trying to run for the Democrats. I hate to see people try to stop her from even trying because of racism and misogyny.

Edited

It's really much more major than a slip of the tongue. Imagine how Putin's going to run with it. And Trump.

It's really not the hilarious Jeremy Hunt the culture secretary spoonerism that kept happening.

There’s no doubt electing Obama was a MASSIVE leap forward given the nations not-too-distant racist history, I’m talking about segregation and lynchings… I can’t help but feel that when they elect a president who is not of mixed heritage but has 2 black parents it will be a sign that they’ve really turned a page. Barack Obama looks like a carbon copy of his maternal (white) grandfather, but with darker skin and different hair. His facial features are incredibly similar and European - something that a lot of white Americans could identify with and wouldn’t mark him as too ‘other’ from them. In effect he was ‘safe’ to put up for the presidential run for want of a better word. When they elect someone who looks more like Eddie Murphy or Samuel L. Jackson, in other words different to the majority of white voters, that will really be a sign that things have changed.

SloaneStreetVandal · 12/07/2024 00:02

Biden is doing a live press conference at the NATO summit shortly, BBC news channel is showing it live. No prompter, no script. It's going to be a disaster.

I'd like to think huge numbers of Americans would just be incredibly relieved to have someone to vote for who isn't very old, suffering from dementia or a felon.

I realise this could be way too optimistic though.

HRTQueen · 12/07/2024 00:04

It’s very sad to see it’s shocking he is still there

since his last election he was supposedly meant to step aside but this was more about his age now it’s about his cognitive ability

If he steps down very soon he can still do so with self respect and respect from the public let’s hope he does

They still have time to find someone else.

This is awful to watch, and escalating. It's horrifying it's gone this far.

How does that work? They've had the primaries, MSM and celebs have endorsed him as the chosen one. To find someone else, all of those folks need to admit that they were endorsing a dementia patient. George Clooney felt that Biden was worth $10m+ of other people's money earlier this year but has now disowned him.

I struggle to see what credibility any of the people who have been closely associated with Biden since 2020 have.

Most of the MPs here would do better. The Country has become an idiocracy.
