I've just seen Biden introduce president Zelensky as President Putin....its just beyond sad now, surely this has to be a big sway to stepping down?

Apologies if this has already been posted but it about sums it up.

Tim Apple is just good humour. Not on a par with Biden's latest indiscretions.

Tim Apple was funny I agree, but it was definitely not deliberate. And getting names confused is getting names confused, regardless of who it is or when it happens (though admittedly the effect can be worse when you are actually President).

There is one Trump supporter on this thread, RationalityIsHard, so you’re right to that extent.

But surely you can see that the concern is that Biden is observably diddle-o, which means that the charlatan Trump will be more likely to get in. Why promote that cause?

I'm not promoting that cause at all. I think Biden should step down (though I think finding a decent replacement will prove impossible). I do believe in being even handed though.

I Agree with you!
( but why waste your time trying to have a conversation with cult members?!)
I think he'll get in, project 2025 will be the USA's brexit, on steroids.
Trump will be the USA's Kim Jong Un, one big fat guy & his acolytes- all the rest impoverished.

Well, someone has just tried to assassinate Trump, he looks to have a minor injury but he has survived and was pumping his fist at the crowd. This is going to be great for his presidential chances and, in terms of this thread, means that the Democrats have to find someone who at least has a hope of beating him. It's going to be even harder now.

Don't mess with The Donald.

Shot him in the head. Missed his brain by a matter of feet.

It was probably Melania 😂

This is crazy now. It was crazy before, but it's really off the charts. Putin must be rolling around on the floor in hysterics.

HollyKnight · 13/07/2024 23:55

Oh lord. Trump and his supporters are going to be insufferable now. Saint Trump.

Owl55 · 14/07/2024 00:01

It is very sad but this man could decide if world war 2 happens!!!!!

I read an earlier article that Biden + co were testing the public response to US Vice President, Kamala Harris. Feel like they are building the momentum to do the handover and it would be considered a bold stroke / a leader that listens.

Meanwhile, we get to endure being politically edged.

Doesn't help though when questioned about Kamala Harris that Biden referred to her as Vice President Trump!! And didn't seem to realise at all.

Humtum · 14/07/2024 01:48

I'd put my vote on the leader that shows some skill and temperance (Biden) than one who - as X / Twitter is suggesting - orchestrated an assignation attempt for popularity.

Incredibly lucky to have skimmed his ear.

RationalityIsHard · 13/07/2024 21:53

Remember when Trump called Tim Cook 'Tim Apple'? Or called Nicky Haley 'Nancy Pelosi'? Or said Viktor Orban was the leader of Turkey?

And yet there is no media campaign to get him to stand down. Makes you wonder about what agendas are at work here.

Both are old men. Only one should definitely not be President, and it's not because he's old and occasionally mixes things up.

I think for me the urge to get Biden to stand down is to beat Trump. Everyone already knows that Trump is an idiot and not up to the job but they cite him in anyway. A media campaign would make no difference. He’s boasted about ‘grabbing women’s pussies’ and suggested we drink bleach to get rid of covid. He’s made a thousand gaffs. But he still gets votes. If Biden isn’t credible it secures his win. A credible alternative could win against Trump. And Biden is a great politician but he is stumbling due to age and that’s a chink in the armour too great to risk.

I have quite a few American friends on Facebook (I do know them from real life). All apart from one are democrats. Who are posting plenty of Biden supporting memes. It’s a huge eye opener that the tribalism really is “both sides”, and that none of them are able to publicly admit that there are genuine concerns over the ability of Biden to be fit enough to serve to the end of his current term, let alone another one. Just like the Trump supporters were/are unable to admit are genuine concerns about his fitness to serve.

Anyway, after the appalling events of last night, I think a Trump win is now inevitable against Biden. What a time to be alive.

I agree with you all. It’s gone beyond time. He is ill.

Hopefully now, there is no way back from this, and ‘whoever’ has been pulling the strings on this facade of a presidency can find a new puppet - I mean candidate.

It is worrying that the choice of people hoping to run the USA are a very ill man and Trump. The world is unstable now with Putin and mad folk in the east.

My left-leaning US friends have really doubled down on the fervent Biden support. It’s a bit weird to see tbh. Before the election here even real Labour supporters were fairly muted about their Starmer support, even knowing that he’d be a decent PM. The cult of personality has such a grip on US politics, it’s scary.

My American family and friends all democrat have gone radio silent on the assassination attempt. From Miami to Maine, not a word.

One of mine is apparently disappointed that the assassin missed. This is not a healthy response, whatever your politics.
