I've just seen Biden introduce president Zelensky as President Putin....its just beyond sad now, surely this has to be a big sway to stepping down?

This is absolutely outrageous. The biggest superpower in the world is being run by a person who is not all there mentally. Dangerous to the whole world. Whatever will the real Putin think he can get away with now?

Decisive action needs to be taken right away. The VP needs to be sworn in and Biden needs a rest and to spend time with family.

So so dangerous.

I'd agree if I thought Biden was actually running things.

Reagan was progressively more demented over his presidency, and it is believed that his wife, inter alia, enabled a pretty successful presidency. Knowing when to keep quiet and being a professional actor probably helped.

I cannot believe they haven’t found a suitable candidate in all this time - one who ISN’T a bloody octogenarian!!!!

I assumed Kamala Harris was a shoe in and she’d already be president by now, having taken over from Biden after
the first year or so - according to plan.

Trump would have loved that.

I don't know which celebrities are democrat fans but can't they just wheel one out for the next 4-5 years please?

Harris would have no chance against Trump and the Democrats know it.

murasaki · 11/07/2024 23:43

Sadly we all know two reasons why Kamala Harris wouldn't get voted in.

Which is outrageous, but the Democrats know it too.

Every day they delay it they undermine public confidence.

Unfortunately they've really lost that because it's obvious they've been lying to the public for a long time.

It was a decade from my FIL displaying the first cognitive issues to his eventual death. Obviously every person is different but if I put Biden on my FIL's timeline I'd say it was about year 7.

That’s why I thought she’d take over right from the start. She’d have been unlikely to have been voted in so being vice president she could have taken over and been given the chance to prove herself to the voters. Was really surprised she’s hardly been in the spotlight since.

I read an earlier article that Biden + co were testing the public response to US Vice President, Kamala Harris. Feel like they are building the momentum to do the handover and it would be considered a bold stroke / a leader that listens.

Meanwhile, we get to endure being politically edged.

Hilary Clinton couldn't beat Trump, Americans aren't going to vote for Kamala Harris over Trump.

If the Democrats replace Biden with Harris as the candidate, they may as well hand Trump the keys to the White House at the same time.

His wife and family are committing elder abuse. God knows why

Cos they get to be the first family with all the incredible perks that entails!

dottiehens · 11/07/2024 23:46

Oh well this issue was dismissed in 2020. However, people were foaming when saying Biden was already showing signs of dementia. I was called MAGA, troll, bot and other insults. The saga against Trump was futile as he will walk the next elections.

Oh no....That's shockingly cringeworthy.
How on earth is this man in control of USA?
SURELY out of the entire population of USA a good and competent leader can be found?

Someone with a sharp mind - A woman for once?

Trouble is, they need significant wealth behind them.

SitBackAndRewind · 11/07/2024 23:47

I’ll try to find a link, but I read an article last week about it’s Jill Biden who’s pulling the strings. It said that usually after Presidency, the outgoing can look forward to speaker circuits, and a very respectable legacy, but the Biden’s won’t as their reputation is in the shitters after protecting Hunter Biden, possibly also criminal proceedings, plus Joe Biden’s declining health.

So, they don’t have a retirement plan. It’s hanging onto the Presidency for dear life, or nadda.

I'm surprised about that also. She was a big part of the 2020 campaign but then sidelined quite effectively.

I suspect this might be due to the people closest to Biden who are very keen for him not just continue this term but also the next. Not for reasons that are for the good of the country or Biden himself.

HollyKnight · 11/07/2024 23:49

It's all a bit Weekend at Bernie's. The actual people running the show just roll this man out, point him in the direction of the cameras, and hope for the best.

LibertyDuck · 11/07/2024 23:49

Honestly, what a load of fuss about nothing. I bet most people have called a colleague by the wrong name or forgotten their name at some point.

StinkerTroll · 11/07/2024 23:49

It's terrifying! He was also reading from a teleprompter! Blimey, Biden or Trump, this is handing it to Trump which is horrific!!

It's so interesting to me that politicians are openly saying she won't get elected because she's a woman or she's African American/Asian American. With this mindset the US would never have had the first black American as president. And it's the democrats rejecting a good candidate because they are afraid of prejudice -- but that's allowing prejudice to stop her from running.

Anyway, waiting for this press conference and hoping he steps down today, let alone running in another election.

tobee · 11/07/2024 23:49
  1. Biden has always been like this; has been for years. But it's not good added to everything else. And maybe his family are excusing how he is currently because it's not obviously new.

2)I don't think it's elder abuse. People are just trotting that out as a line. I think he wants to stay working.

murasaki · 11/07/2024 23:50

I do think blaming Jill Biden reeks of misogyny. I'm pretty sure it's his own ego, which seems to have remained intact when much of his cognitive function has sailed away.

But she doesn't help herself when on stage. It does look a bit nannying.

It's the optics and the current context of him standing against a very dangerous egomaniac that makes the fuss understandable.
