Trying out my election special name.

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/06/2024 20:46

Going back to the dilemma posted on the previous thread, I'd rather 3 Reform MPs than 1 Frottage.

I think 3 is the magic number for maximum Reform craziness.Grin

If everyone changes their names for election night at least I'll know @prettybird for the signature mumsnet emojis! WineStar

Take a look at the polls.
Wildly all over the place.
But Jeremy Corbyn's puppet has thrown it away by taxing children's education.
Reform are surging and they know what a woman is.

Are there any that predict anything close to a hung Parliament?

pointythings · 19/06/2024 20:50

On reflection I agree - rather three Reform MPs than one Farage. If only for the joy of seeing him lose for the 8th time.

I reckon he'll win Clacton though.

bombastix · 19/06/2024 20:50

A name change? I like this idea… maybe champagnesocialissimo

May the Lib Dems come second and Farage lose.

Mr Tiiddles helping Rishi with the packing.

I think there were predictions of a hung Parliament a few months ago.

I guess that poster hasn't checked in to the campaign or the news since then.

Igotjelly · 19/06/2024 20:57

I think my biggest fear is turnout, it was discussed recently on The Rest is Politics about the risk of people voting for smaller parties, or not at all, because they see it as a done deal.

Piggywaspushed · 19/06/2024 21:00

I might change mine to AngelaRaynersFanClub.

prettybird · 19/06/2024 21:01

@tobee - for some weird reason, I don't like using my iPhone emojis on Mumsnet - maybe because I'm so old school and it originally wasn't possible. Wink

Plus I much prefer Hmm and Confused to 😒 and - well, there isn't a direct equivalent to Confused. Maybe 😖 or 🤯 or 🤔 depending on the context Grin (or 😂).

I do like 🐿️ though. 😂

Yes! I look forward to her winning.

I find myself wondering how the Tories would have done under the PR system they torpedoed ?

I think turnout might be on the low side, but not rock bottom - people are really, really angry with this government. Plus a lot of younger people have registered to vote.

newnamethanks · 19/06/2024 21:16

My name will be ManyPortilloMoments. If I remember.

Turnout tends to hover around 70%.

65% wouldn't raise eyebrows

I believe in a previous thread I plumped for 68%

Grimsby. That was angry. I hope there is something good for those people soon

MissMarplesNiece · 19/06/2024 21:32

Going back to Farage (I so wish we didn't have to, but..). I still think there is a strong possibility that
he wins Clacton, crosses the floor and by time of next election is Tory leader to a Tory Party that has moved even further to the right. Disillusionment with Labour, who I think will have difficulty fulfilling people's expectations for improvements in living standards, will see PM Farage in power before the end of the decade.

Please say something to reassure me that I'm wrong.

DeadButDelicious · 19/06/2024 21:43

Ooh I might have an election name change...

I'm absentmindedly watching Peston, Jess Phillips is on, I love her.

This did make me chuckle. I mean seriously?!

From a reporter at the evening standard.

"New: Understand Islington North Labour CLP chair Alison McGarry resigned today after being “caught red-handed” campaigning for Jeremy Corbyn. She apparently attempted to hide behind a hedge after being spotted by “multiple witnesses”"

Cheguevarahamster · 19/06/2024 21:48

This is the weirdest election ever.

That’s so funny. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with that seat.
