...and supposedly she has voluntarily given up her Non-dom status so does pay tax on what she earns in the UK but that's easily manipulated Hmm

If only we had the Icelandic system where tax paid is a matter of public record Grin

My default position on any statement from anyone that is unverifiable is to basically ignore it, depending on it's potential risk.

So tell me there is an exe-wielding maniac around the corner and I probably would find a detour.

Tell me Mrs. Sunak pays all her taxes .... well that's just so much airwaves moving around to make sounds.

It was telling when I went to check Boris really had renounced his US citizenship, a couple of posters in the legal forum I used mentioned I wasn't the first person to ask because they didn't believe him. However it turns out the State Department publish a list of renouncees and yes - he was there.

May only be short lived (I hope not 🤞) but I did smile when Braverman posted about how she is no longer my (our/a) MP now parliament is prorouged but the candidate for F and W.

I can at least enjoy 6 weeks of her not being my MP 🤣

LittleBowSheep · 30/05/2024 11:32

Is that Mrs Sunak visiting care homes and offering to pay their care fees?

She could afford it out of her petty cash.

BIossomtoes · 30/05/2024 11:34

No, it’s Mrs Sunak’s husband using her and care home residents as propaganda. Shame on the care home management for allowing it.

There's also another dimension to that image that no one in charge appears to have thought of.

Suffice is to say, Reform could just as easily use it in their campaigning. Wouldn't even need to change the wording, as their voters are much less likely to read.

It will be owned by a Tory chum.

And even if there is any fallout, it'll be some poor sub-minimum wage manager who gets the chop.

DuncinToffee · 30/05/2024 12:12

Mrs Sunak is probably telling the guy all about the new care workers that will be recruited.

The inexperienced 18 year old volunteer army.

I think it's unrealistic to expect every candidate to clean up their profiles.

We are all human, we can all get caught out even with the best of intentions and we all have our off moments where we say and do stupid out of character things. These moments shouldn't define a person.

Is Mrs Sunak standing to be an MP now?

I agree, but with the media we have you can bet every new Labour candidate's history will be dug into.

I also agree with @fabio12 that it is concerning that mentioning Palestine seems to be forbidden right now.

The captions will be writing themselves. And some will be flat out racist. I'm surprised we haven't seen Farage out and about waving that picture with some sick making rhetoric.

Is that Mother Theresa there? I haven't got my glasses on 🤔

Does the cost of living crisis bring us closer to god and that is why Sunak is so keen on inflicting it upon all of us?

I do agree with Angela (again). I think Labour is fast getting a woman problem, but not in the way it is used to.

They seem to be missing marks that seem obvious to make things seem less punitive.

Diane Abbott says Labour has "banned" her as a candidate - but the deputy leader seems to suggest otherwise.

Imagine being able to vote for taxes you won't be paying. It's almost an inverse of the Revolutionary battle cry.

Or being Prime Minister of a country you can't wait to leave, and care so little for that you broke it's laws while in government and show your disdain for the population by driving living standards down rather than up whilst ensuring you and your mates could hoard more wealth.

Well I didn't like to say - #bekind and all that

Scruffily · 30/05/2024 14:34

BIossomtoes · 30/05/2024 08:41

Very astute. And you’re absolutely right.

In the meantime, Sunak’s so desperate for the grey vote that he’s sending Mrs Sunak into care homes.

I wish Mrs S would turn up in my mother's care home. There's not a chance that my mother would know who she or her husband are, but she could be relied on to say something rude about Boris and demand that Mrs S take her to the toilet.

That sums up Sunak, his cronies and the Conservative Cabal perfectly Angry

Is Labour ditching the VAT on school fees proposal? Someone on another thread has suggested this is happening but can't see anything.

NEW: Trump-style Tory attacks on “Sleepy Keir” Starmer backfired, @Moreincommon_ poll says

— only 17% of voters think he’s too old to be PM
— that falls to 5% among swing voters
— only 26% of Tories say his age is an issue
— and core vote may be offended

Cabinet minister says the “Sir Sleepy” attack lines were embarrassing for Sunak

— they haven’t been repeated by Tory aides since Sunak himself and Mel Stride distanced themselves… suggesting the Tories may be ditching the tactic

— plus see this from @LukeTryl: the average age of the key demographic the Tories need to win over to avoid a landslide defeat is 61 years-old

— that’s the exact age of… Keir Starmer

I haven't seen anything like that being announced either, maybe they are confused with Labour stating they won't raise VAT?

They might be. The poster is also saying Labour are in trouble and the polls are narrowing!

Ah well, there you go Grin

The amount of threads on the topic is insane

Really does, I was about to have a massive rant thank you for saving me & all of you from my ranty ramblings.

Yes I think because labour said it would not add VAT but is "adding" it to private schools there's been confusion.

There's another news item about Labour having a "black and brown problem" from another woman. I think Labour need to be very careful here as 2 similar stories close together added to the ban on talking about muslims...

Odd. Stories of the Tory donor (and helicopter loaner) who hated black women and wanted to shoot Diane Abbot seem to have gone quiet
