Hope you have a wonderful time in Pembrokeshire. Would love to be there now, I would be off to see the puffins.

sproutsandparsnips · 04/06/2024 23:01

IWanderedlonely** depending on where you came from you may have passed close to me! I love Pembrokeshire and have fond memories of the castle.
Penguinsa I have enjoyed puffin boat trips!
Finished work late tonight so not home until 2130, back in to do it all again tomorrow......

MissConductUS · 04/06/2024 23:52

Iwandered, it's stuck up on us too. The good news is that earlier in the week the weather forecast showed rain on Saturday, and it's now out of the forecast. The current forecast is for a high temp of 23C and partly cloudy skies. The ceremony and the reception are indoors but we're hoping to have the cocktail hour outside.

I saw the ducks today and the cormorant, but I didn't get a picture of the latter.

Hello all...
Up late as always as I have not settled tonight yet !

Absolutely crazy funny day with mam !

I took her for a doctor's appointment.

While at the bus stop and on the bus I knew she was not hearing me properly.

(She has hearing aids )

In the waiting room she is telling me that these are the worst hearing aids she has ever had.

Conversation :

M : Don't like these new hearing aids .
B: Why?
M: Whaaat ?

B: but they seemed fine when we left the audiologist the other day.
M: The what ?

Add and repeat !!!

Had doctors appointment.

she is disgusted that she has been diagnosed with arthritis!

Went to pub for food as appointment was dinner time !
(Any excuse !)

While in pub .......well ....to cut a long story short ....

I checked and pressed a button..

Voila !

Mam: ohhh Bizzey ....I can hear now .

Well you will do now mam ....you had the flippin things turned off !! 😂😂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/06/2024 05:26

Baby got up on hands and knees a little while ago!!! 😄

Deathraystare · 05/06/2024 09:03

@Mumtobabyhavoc
Good news about the baby. Hope you have suitable running shoes ready! My little brother was quite the sprinter!

@bizzey
Be prepared for her having them turned off...a lot!

@MissConductUS
Fingers crossed no rain for the big day!!

I deliberately left a tote bag at work as could not be bothered to lug it home only to bring it in again today. Of course I left my phone there. So no alarm this morning! I have lost one of my watches but fortunately found another that works. However I did not get up until 6am this morning.

After racing to the shower - water still boiling so again no proper wash or hair wash!- I got to work just on time for 07.00am. Phew! I will try to have a shower tonight. I live in a 15 floor tower block and am wondering if water is hot early morning as not many people up at that time unless on early shift?? I really cannot face boiling hot showers! My feet in particular are very sensitive to heat.

Penguinsa · 05/06/2024 12:24

Hope you get good weather for the wedding MissC If not in France they say rainy wedding, happy marriage.

That's exciting re baby Havoc though starts the needing to put everything up higher and higher phase and running after two rather than one but lovely to see them develop.

Had cancer checks this morning for new cancer and stage 4 and they did a mammo of one side, ultrasound of other and physical checks and got the all clear on both sides phew. Its just scar tissue and dimpling is as lost Tamoxifen weight gain.

Now back home, taken a bath with rose bath foam so Floof will love me as he loves the smell of rose and about to have lunch. DD has an A level exam tomorrow the last one of the three this week then just 2/9 remaining after that one, one next Tues and one on 20th.

Umanresources · 05/06/2024 13:38

MissC the wedding weekend is rushing di quickly. I hope the weather stays fine for you. A photographer friend liked slightly overcast weather so that people weren't squinting into the sun. I'm feeling quite excited for you!
Havoc what a time you will have with 2 babies rushing around. I'd love to have that time over again with my two, but grandchildren are now my joy. I've had 2 personalised books made for them and can't wait to share them when they are here in October.
Penguin so pleased to hear your results were fine. Must be one weight off your mind at least. I envy your bath and can almost smell the roses 🌹. I haven't had a bath for a couple of years, my hips won't let me bend. The last time I had one I had to get my partner to help me out. It's funny now looking back, but at the time I was in tears and just kept saying, please don't call the fire brigade! He eventually managed by letting the water out and propping me up on various cushions. Also it was a good job it was summer and quite warm!
I hope the exam season goes well 🙏. Such a stressful time for all concerned, especially with having to cope with the past few years disruptions as well.

Death I've not worm a watch for a few years now, but I do rely on my phone for so much, especially alarms.
Bizzey you have* *such a hectic life. I've been exhausted reading about it. All I've been doing lately is a little sketching and knitting baby hats!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/06/2024 16:53

Good news, Penguinsa. 🥰
Uman, what a nice idea re books for dgc!

We have some blue sky right now, but it's still breezy. Havoc's fever was gone last night, but is back today. Appetite is ok, though. Managed to encourage oatmeal with banana.

Penguinsa · 05/06/2024 18:08

Thanks so much Uman and Havoc very relieved and so happy to be told today and not have to wait ages for the results.

Sorry Havoc is still unwell. Hope he improves.

Sorry you can't have baths Uman. I have the Faith in Nature rose products and they smell so nice, they are actually shower gel but use them in bath. DS loves them. Get them when they go on offer.

Had a bakewell tart. DH has gone to collect my Amazon parcels, have 12 things, quite a few are for DS (paints, origamix2, suduko), then there's a new shower head and hose DD asked for, and then I have a summer blouse, a book by Agnes Newton-Keith Land Below the Wind, a sunhat, an ipad case, water bottle and socks. Think it was my distraction whilst waiting for tests. 😂

IWanderedLonely · 05/06/2024 20:35

Penguinisa great news about the mammogram results
Miss fingers crossed for good weather
Sprouts we came via Welshpool, Aberystwyth and down the coast road. Just come back from a walk to St Govan's Chapel. We're having a great time. Went to Pembroke Castle this morning

MissConductUS · 05/06/2024 21:13

Havoc, how's little Havoc doing? If the baby is on hands and knees, the days of parking it are over. The crawling stage is about to start.

Lots of last minute wedding details to sort. The bridesmaids are arriving. I have to pick one up today at the train station, then will probably take her out to dinner before we drive her up to her AirBnB tonight. DH is doing all of the last minute financial things, paying the DJ, taking out cash for gratuities, etc. I think we're on track and the weather is still looking okay for Saturday.

I saw Mama duck on the spillway with a duckling this morning and the crane. I'm amazed he let me get that close. He usually flies off if I come within ten yards or so.

So exciting about the wedding MissC Hope it all goes well.

Glad you are having a lovely time Iwandered

After 2 months Vanguard have finally transferred my ISA as requested though they transferred all of it about from £40 and sent me an e-mail saying do I want them to transfer that too. 🤔Think someone forgot to transfer the closing interest. Took 4 letters from the building society and me contacting them several times. They are very nice but don't seem to know what they are doing in that department.

DD has been playing Going to the chapel and I'm going to get married really loud singing away and will have A level exam tomorrow morning. I have started reading my book whilst also watching Race Around the World.

mathanxiety · 06/06/2024 02:32

Great news, Penguinsa.

Fingers crossed for good weather, MissC.

I am cat sitting this evening for a friend. The cat has told me all about his busy day.

Deathraystare · 06/06/2024 08:35

@Umanresources
I feel better knowing there is a watch on my wrist (and don't keep having to get my phone out!). I have another watch that is working but the slight pattern on the face means I find it hard sometimes to tell the time (I am very bad at that unless it is very clear!). In my French lessons at school I was asked to tell the time. I could not even do it in English!! Now I know if the small hand is on the 2 and big hand on 3 that means 2.15 but for some reason if the small hand was in between 2 and three I had no idea if it was 2 or 3!!

@Penguinsa

That is good news indeed re your health. I was a bit worried about mentioning my two colleagues as I know some people on here have their own battles.

Still boiling hot water so had to flannel wash at the sink, then put some sections of my hair in sink to wash (i.e not a proper hair wash). I cannot at the moment make calls or texts on my phone so left a note for flat mate to ask maintenance to come look at shower. I hope he will though he is nor much of a shower-er himself so perhaps not inconveniencing him??

Just a bit late into work this morning. Only by 4 minutes. Was turfed off bus as pass out of cash. Pisses me off when young lads get on without any intention of paying yet I get turfed off. Was so upset at being thought a criminal that I forgot I had my bank card and could have paid with that! (For those across the pond/overseas, we normally pay with an Oyster card which you load up with money). So I get off the bus and go to the train station where I put £10 on it. When another bus came, at first it did not register on the machine. Cue me getting upset and the driver gave a little chuckle. I told him why I was upset!

Perhaps it is about time white middle aged women got upsey! They would not tackle us about our bus passes then! Just kidding, I think those that behave like Karens really show themselves up.

Deathraystare · 06/06/2024 08:43

@MissConductUS

That is a really nice spot that you photograph. It makes me wish I was there complete with folding seat, sandwiches and a flask of tea! Though it could of course be on a very busy road and you have photographed it to look more tranquil than it is, in which case if you haven't already, you need to work for an estate agents (as we call them in UK, those that sell property) and photograph some right shit holes to look lovely, you would have that talent!!

And of course, now that sounds like a really rude comment! Not meant to!

MissConductUS · 06/06/2024 11:40

Penguinsa, I hope you get your results in soon. I'm surprised about Vanguard. Their customer service in the US is brilliant.

Deathray, that reservoir is idyllic. There are no busy roads in the area, and it's usually relatively peaceful and quiet. A bit of construction is happening nearby, but it's still lovely.

All of the bridesmaids have arrived and are settled into their AirBnB. I made two loaves of strawberry bread with most of the strawberries we picked on Sunday. One is for us and the other is for the groom's family, who are arriving today.

The excitement must be really ramping up now, MissC! Sending you all the best for Saturday now, as your attention will be fully occupied by the big event. I hope it all goes without a hitch and that the weather smiles on you.

Penguinsa, so good to hear that your medical checks went well.

Hope the little one's feeling brighter, Havoc.

I'm about to head into the garden to attempt to lash the net onto my bean-growing frame…wish me luck 😬

MissConductUS · 06/06/2024 16:21

Thanks, Hilda. It feels more like the calm before the storm now for some reason. Good luck with your bean frame netting.

I saw mama duck and duckling again this morning, which was a relief. The duckling was in the lower part of the spillway yesterday, and if the water is running hard enough, I've seen them washed down into the drainage pipes and lost before.

@Penguinsa I've had a look at the Faith in Nature site and it’s going to cost me a small fortune. Their products look amazing! I shall be ordering tonight, when I’ve finished looking at all their stuff.

@Mumtobabyhavoc I hope Havoc’s temperature has gone back to normal today.

@Deathraystare gosh I can’t remember the last time I went on a bus. I used to hop on a bus to go to Manchester, hop off and get onto another one to the train station, then go to Watford to meet my OH before he moved ‘oop North’ to me. This was Friday afternoon, then the reverse journey back on Sunday evening. Alternate weekends he would drive here. Thank goodness it was only for a couple of years.

The art pictures are from the book for my younger grandson, with several pictures of him done in the style of various artists. I love it. The other is a book of facts about my older grandson with lots of information about things that have happened during his lifetime. I can’t wait to see their reactions. They probably won’t be as excited as me though.

WOW @Umanresources those are amazing! Definitely something to cherish. 🩷 How did you come upon the idea?

I didn’t. The books came up on my Insta feed. My younger grandson has just started art classes and the older one just loves books. I had to ask him lots of questions about himself during our FaceTime conversations. Favourite food, places, friends etc. He enjoyed talking about himself.

it was fun putting in the photos for the art book, as they do a mock up first, so I put my own photo, as a child, in it. It’s on https://selfarama.com/books/my-book-of-art-history
The other one is from https://www.wonderbly.com/ and that also lets you put in details and choose from lots of books. There are some lovely ones for little ones there too.

Those books are amazing, @Umanresources.

We have the rehearsal at the church today at 3:00 and the rehearsal dinner at 6:00. It will be at the same place as the reception tomorrow. I'm going to meet DD and the bridesmaids this morning to get our nails done.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is looking even better!
