Penguinsa, is that Chatsworth House? I looked at the country fair site and that looks amazing!

Am lying in bed with back pain, heating pad under my back, contemplating pain meds. GP appt by phone in a bit, for another thing, but will mention. 😢

HelenaJustina · 20/08/2024 18:04

Just swung by but haven’t managed proper catch up. Congratulations to DD and commiserations Penguinsa hope you get sorted.

Been a busy summer so far with lots more to fit in before going back to work in a few weeks.

bizzey · 20/08/2024 19:35

Havoc ...you poor thing 😕.
Hope GP appointment is productive x

Thank you, Penguinsa, Bizzey Doctor is adding a req for labs to check inflammation level to assess for arthritis as I have knee and elbow pain also and psoriasis. Has urged me to get c-rays ssap. Glad for proactive approach. Many don't have this.

Have got dc down for nap. Havoc asked why has to nap. I said it is to keep mummy sane. 💁‍♀️
Had a lot of rain over night. Movies are done for downtown but still this week and next at QE and Stanley Park, I believe. Havoc has asked to go again and also to bouncy park again. We'll see....
Currently got laundry on. Bleaching the towels.

Lemons, DH and I will each collect Social Security retirement benefits (the government pension most Americans have) and draw down money we have saved and invested in our own individual retirement accounts. DH is the money wizard in our family and he assures me that we'll have plenty. I'd like to do some traveling next year, and at least have a decent beach holiday in June or July. We went to Block Island for our honeymoon, and I'd love to go back there with the kids if they want to join us. We took them there most summers when they were growing up.

Havoc, updated x-rays are good, but you may need an MRI scan to really see what's going on with the bulging discs. The psoriasis and inflammation suggest a possible immune system issue, as I'm sure you and your doctor know. I have one of those too and it's a bit of a misery.

We had lots of rain and heavy thunderstorms over the weekend. The cats hid. They don't like the thunder.

Penguina glad you had a lovely day. It looks very impressive.

Got DS to pharmacy today due to having eczema the pharmacist prescribed him Epimax oatmeal cream and hydrocortisone for the bad bits. He was very helpful and gave great advice.

Have been swimming tonight but was very out of breath I feel like I have quite the lack of energy at moment. Am going to book doctors appointment soon. I could honestly sleep for days.

Umanresources · 20/08/2024 23:48

@Penguinsa Chatsworth House looks amazing.
@Mumtobabyhavoc i hope you get your disc gets sorted soon.

I’ve spent a couple of days shortening some trousers for my daughter’s friend. It’s so relaxing hand sewing. Tomorrow I’ve got a hospital appointment for an MRSA swab before my steroid injection in my poor arthritic hip next week.

bizzey · 21/08/2024 00:33

I am struggling with the sentence....
It'a so relaxing hand sewing .

I am hyperventilating at the hyperbole of it all 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/08/2024 01:03

Bizzey, I felt quite smug a few years ago sewing up a sheet for my mum. I made it up as I went along, but it turned out quite well and very sturdy!
Lemons, yes, please book GP appt.

Back still sore, but took meds earlier today so a bit more tolerable atm. I will see pain doc on Thurs for trigger point injections which help with spasm.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/08/2024 01:05

@ZZTopGuitarSolo where have you gone? Everything okay with you down south?

Umanresources · 21/08/2024 01:13

Bizzey I love sewing, especially by hand. I made quite a few outfits for my son when he was a baby, some gorgeous dungarees, but that was using my sewing machine. I used to love knitting as well and I’ve still got a matinee coat and bonnet that I made for him forty years ago.

Lemonsandlemonade · 21/08/2024 01:43

Hope your back injection goes ok Havoc and it reduced your pain.

DS woke an hour annd an half ago with awful scary nightmare thrashing around screaming no at me a took me an age to calm him.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/08/2024 04:36

Thanks, Lemons.
My lo has woken crying, I assume from a bad dream, and been inconsolable for up to a half hour. Seemingly awake at times, but clearly sleeping. Has you dc had thus happen?

Lemonsandlemonade · 21/08/2024 12:28

Yeah Havoc are times when DS is asleep and crying or thrashing around or laughing ( I find that creepy) but he was awake last night and very frightened.

He wanted the quilt over his head so he could hide away and he tucked his legs so he was safe.

Nothing like a walk to blow away the cobwebs.

Hi - thanks for asking! Things are up and down here. Between sick pets, and kids moving out/going abroad, and work, I feel like life is non-stop. I should be coming here more for the nice calm chat.

I am healthy (if menopausal) and everyone in my family is doing fine. We've been doing things like sorting out some of our many trees, visiting the vet far too often, going to the lake to paddle board as often as possible.

I had a trip back to the UK recently where I caught up with loads of friends and family, and it was absolutely lovely.

It's nice to catch up with everyone on here <3

MissConductUS · 21/08/2024 16:08

It's lovely to see you again, @ZZTopGuitarSolo. And I'm glad to hear you're doing well, if perhaps a bit too busy. How's your DD doing, and when does she leave for her last year of college?

She’s had a good summer at home doing an internship, and she leaves soon to go to the UK for a semester! She will miss her college friends here a lot, but studying abroad this year was too good an opportunity to miss.

How is your daughter doing? It’s been lovely reading about her wedding and travels.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/08/2024 19:16

Hi ZZ! Glad you popped by! Sounds like you've been busy, but have managed a lot of fun SUP'ing. 👍
Glad to know family is well, but sorry about pets. 😔
Exciting school news re your dd! A friend went to do a masters in England and loved the experience.

Still gritting my teeth here with back pain. Took prescription meds again this morning and TENS on and off last night and again when I woke up.

bizzey · 21/08/2024 23:55

Havoc ....I feel for you with your back and 2 little ones .
While pregnant with ds2 I managed to twist my back awkwardly lifting ds1 off a slowing down roundabout
(as you do ! ...I thought he was going to fall off...and tried to swoop him off.......I should have just let him fall off 🤣🤣 !!)

I have had many back issues since then....but having to look after little ones as well is hard.

Are you still BF ? That will limit medication?

I had a vertebra trauma when I was 19 so have always had a dodgy back any how !

I always have Voltarol/diclofenac gel rub
in the house /bedroom /handbag !

bizzey · 22/08/2024 00:06

I am sporting a very interesting eye at the moment!

I thought it was unusually itchy earlier...rubbed it without 🤔...

I am now the proud owner of a small red sty with a red swollen area underneath!! ...
Obvs ...no cream for that in the house ....so making do with not trying to rub it 🤣.

Think I might try a little bit of ice in a face cloth/flannel to see if the lovely little swollen bit goes down !

I really wanted to look my best tomorrow as well.

Doctors appointment with mam.

Could be dodgy news from her test results .

Mam always has this thing that you look your best at doctors appointments and wear your best clothes ....basically treat it as a posh day out ! 😀😀..

Even when she is ill...she still makes sure she has got a clean ironed top on !

So I don't want to let her down !

bizzey · 22/08/2024 00:14

I am hoping that it is just something simple like her blood pressure tablets need re adjusting....or one of the other many (!,😅😲) tablets that she is on need adjusting !

Apolloneuro · 22/08/2024 00:22

Oh bizzey I used to get styes. A compress of as hot as you can bear water did the trick.

bizzey · 22/08/2024 00:25

I think ds3 has forgotten that his English results are due tomorrow 😕.

I have to make sure he is awake when I leave at 1pm as he is meeting ds2 at 1.30pm 😲🤔🥺..!!!

I didn't question why he would not be checking his emails at 8am onwards !

As an aside ...I put need product in my hair tonight after it's hair wash ....and now my already big buffoynt hair ...is even bigger 🤣🤣🤣...

It really does add thickness 🤣..
