Thanks Havoc I've sent her a pinched nerve link, she is still waiting and learning the hard way that going to A&E on Sat night is not a good idea. Yes BBC don't seem to have good coverage - the ceremony all had rain on every camera and with events said they had no control over pictures. Events were fine but Bbc commentary was tricky as they didn't know what was being filmed next.

DD just being seen now, think she got there around 8pm but was worried as no doctors here tomorrow though sure they will just tell her to rest it. She will have done about 5 hours punting with it yesterday.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/07/2024 04:16

Penguinsa, re pinched nerve google "nerve flossing." Don't stretch. 😊
Hi, Floof Handsome Boy! 😍
Interesting re coverage! Both channels I watched here seemed to have a program they were following to tell viewers what each part was and some info about it. I think we had a very different experience this side of the pond! The screen showed "egalite" for example and that whole section would be explained with narration by the news casters. 🤔 It was exciting to follow along. And then interspersed with shots of teams on their boats with info said about the teams.
Have got women's beach volleyball on. 👍

DandyDandylion · 28/07/2024 07:35

I thought the opening ceremony was fun. Loved seeing all the teams big and small. There was some high culture in the form of opera singing and piano playing. Then minion cartoons for the younger viewer and a bit of off the wall stuff for people who like that. The mechanical horse was beautiful. They were obviously trying to appeal to as many people as possible. Some people are never happy!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/07/2024 07:46

Well said, Dandy.

As promised, pics from UK's entry at fireworks tonight. Took some pics of Science World looking west on False Creek. Then went over to Granville Island for last part of fireworks.

And if interested, just checked, and all three nights of the fireworks are on YouTube. They're pretty spectacular. 👍

@MissConductUS

Yes those beds must be tested as much as possible!!

Regarding Olympics, I have watched nothing. I missed the opening ceremony because of work but anyway normally end up gnashing my teeth as you rarely see anyone who isn't in a mass of USA or cANADA. I like watching the very much smaller nations. Especially if they have a native costume, but normally when it gets to their turn, it switches to bloody USA or Canada or another country with millions of people taking part.

Anyway, when I get home at night -if I have done the late shift, I like nothing better than watching paranormal stuff!

HelenaJustina · 28/07/2024 22:22

I enjoyed the opening ceremony too Havoc as did 4 DC. It’s too popular to do down mainstream/mass entertainment events for my liking. The weather didn’t do them any favours but that’s so far beyond anyone’s control.
Got back from DC2’s swim training in time to watch Adam Peaty’s 100m breaststroke final, very moving!

Penguinsa · 28/07/2024 22:45

DD got home via taxi at just before 4am and as expected they just told her to rest and said nothing wrong. She didn't go into work today and we both slept until about lunch then she went to watch Formula 1 with friends. I have been cleaning and watching Olympics on BBC iplayer though behind. Still on women's gymnastics which I love - so good to see Simone Biles back at the top of her game. I like watching later rather than live so I can fast forward through the commentary. I asked DH what reaction was to opening ceremony in France and he said very mixed but didn't watch himself. He's now at his Mums.

Floof is guarding dd making sure she doesn't leave again. DH is back tomorrow and will be glad to have him back to chat to though we chatted an hour on the phone.

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/07/2024 06:07

Mixture of park, feeding the ducks and watching bits of the olympics for us yesterday. We may well go to beach today as last day off for DH.

Helena I was moved too by Adam Peaty.

DS been up since 5.

Glad your DD was ok penguinsa.

DBIL is ill in hospital with gall stones. He may have gall bladder removed next week.

Went for lovely walk last night.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/07/2024 07:53

Penguinsa, how frustrating for your dd. Might be a good idea to follow-up with a physio? Just a thought.
Lemons, gorgeous photo. I sympathize with the early wakings...

Baby is 7 months today. Went out for cake. Had a slice of chocolate raspberry. It was really good. Walked around after and stopped in a candy/ice-cream/cake shop. Brought home a piece of their cake to compare. Always looking for really good cake. Apparently they also will do whole cakes to order. Would like to try one of those massive ice-cream sandwiches (pic) but their ice-cream isn't lactose-free. Probably a good thing for me!

@Mumtobabyhavoc

That picture alone may have affected my diabetes!!!

Had a good book club. I was the only one who had selected a new book so I guess I get a gold star! Unfortunately I was sick in the house and then when I got home was sick twice in the grounds. Nothing I had eaten though it was a glorious purple colour from Cranberry juice, Cherrypie, Cherry ice cream and raspberry sorbet! Feel much better this morning and had a ginger shot just in case!

Penguinsa · 29/07/2024 13:54

Just got offered the job on the remote island. DH is away until late this evening. I don't want to say anything else on a public forum but happy to discuss over PM.

MissConductUS · 29/07/2024 14:22

That's so exciting, Penguinsa! Was it a good offer?

I picked up cat poop from the bathroom floor this morning ... little babe couldn't get to her litter tray in time as she has the runs.

That's about all dull and uninteresting for today!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/07/2024 15:50

Oh Penguinsa, how very very exciting!!!! So happy for you!!! 🙌👏🤗

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/07/2024 16:29

Oh wow penguinsa congratulations! 🥳

HildaTablet · 29/07/2024 19:58

Big congratulations Penguinsa! 🤗 🏅

IWanderedLonely · 29/07/2024 20:49

Death I've not watched any Olympics either - just not interested and I love anything paranormal!

Penguinsa · 29/07/2024 20:49

Thanks MissC, Havoc Hilda and Lemons

DH arrives back shortly after 8 days away in France. Been watching Olympics on BBC today - watching the diving love Tom Daley and Noel and so lovely to see their success after Tom's Dad and Noel's coach died. The BBC commentary was very rude about the French divers - I didn't realise the home nation automatically qualified on team events and one of the French divers was 40, pretty amazing to be diving that well.

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/07/2024 20:51

Very warm today. About 24/25 degrees. I have burnt my legs quite badly though at beach. I had factor 50 sun cream on.

I had loads of fun though.

Penguinisa congratulations on the offerSmile
Lemons that looks gorgeous -is it looking over to Aberdovey?

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/07/2024 21:52

@IWanderedLonely yeah it is Aberdyfi. We were across at ynys las.

West wales is stunning I mean Wales in general to be honest I believe packs a punch.

DandyDandylion · 29/07/2024 21:54

@Penguinsa congratulations, do let us know what you decide.

@Flumpie59 a previous cat of mine had a runny bum for a week. The vet gave us a prebiotic paste, which is available over the counter, and it cleared up immediately. Worth a try if it carries on.
