Lemons, that's quite a screening process. 😧
Penguinsa, googled the gardens. Looks nice! What a great way to spend the day, including your dinner. 🤗
Dandy, sounds like a bit of bushwhacking!
Sprouts, road trip already!? It does look amazing...

Spent a couple hours at the Aquarium today with Havoc. It was quite warm out and looks to be hot tomorrow. Baby is trying to stand now! Holds my hands and pulls up to feet. This is happening a bit fast, I think.

Deathraystare · 17/07/2024 08:10

@MissConductUS

Of course I meant ice-cream! How bizarre you mentioned headphones!!!

mathanxiety · 17/07/2024 17:55

There are painters downstairs redoing the apartment my neighbour moved out of earlier in the summer. They are a chatty bunch and one of them whistles while he works.

Now I've got the Snow White song as an earworm 😂

MissConductUS · 17/07/2024 19:11

Deathray, I'm a bit of a gadget geek. I also love ice cream. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Math, we're thinking of redoing our kitchen later this year. The cats will never forgive us. Be thankful it's just painting.

One of my son’s friends whistles over his microphone whilst they are playing online together. In those moments I want to murder the lovely lad.
I enjoyed a locally made ice cream today in the sunshine.

Penguinsa · 17/07/2024 22:00

Congratulations to DS1 on passing driving test Sprouts.

Had pre op today and went fine and results come in fine so should be 6 August now, said will be in hospital a week.

Also got parcels from about 5 shops preparing for surgery and DH being away before it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/07/2024 00:31

Hello lovlies. 🥰
well, it's uncomfortably warm here today. 🥵
it's 31c and the breeze is warm air, so, not refreshing. 😔

Penguinsa, so glad to know pre-op looks good. 😅
Dandy, which flavour did you have? 😋
Miss, geeks unite! 🤓

Did a bit of admin today 🥱
Shopped at Costco and have just finished a late lunch: bbq chicken, cotton candy grapes, fresh pineapple, cold latte. Might have another latte. It's quite refreshing. Have kept dc in today, playgrounds are just too hot.
miiiight go to splash pad, but expect it to be chaos.

Deathraystare · 18/07/2024 07:50

Having a horrid time trying to sort out my phone. Tesco closed the account down due to non payment even though I told them I had the money and was trying to pay (went to a Tesco branch and tried online) You have to go through so many hoops. Obvs my phone is NOT working as they closed the a/c but they keep wanting to sent codes through (to prove I am not a robot). Obvs these are not coming through.

I picked up a phone I last used 2 years ago. Recharged it but cannot pay online or on phone (it is PAYG). I think I will get a new phone but use the sim (unless I cannot use that either. Bloody things).

sueelleker · 18/07/2024 11:48

Deathraystare; you should be able to use the sim. I took over my late husband's phone, as I preferred it to mine. They had to fit a sort of frame round it to make it fit the case though.

Deathraystare · 18/07/2024 12:33

@sueelleker

Thanks Sue. I am going to Vodophone today to get a cheap nokia phone and will ask them to use that sim if poss.

bizzey · 18/07/2024 13:21

Gosh @Deathraystare ...you have definitely had a runaround with your phone problems .

Havoc ...hope you are surviving with 2 little ones in the heat .

I think our. " summer" is arriving tomorrow....for 1 day ! 😂.

Going away tomorrow -Saturday with the boys.

I keep checking the weather apps.

So far .. I need to bring with me :

T shirt ( for nice)

Vest top ( for realllly hot)

Cardigan ( for a bit of a chilly wind)

Little jacket ( for in between the above 2 )

Thin fleece ( for the nights)

UMBRELLA.( as the different apps can't decide if it will ...or if it won't 😂)

The temperature range is going from 17 - 24 !

bizzey · 18/07/2024 13:25

Posted too soon !

Obviously...not squeezing all that in !

We can't leave our rucksacks /overnight bags anywhere this time...
So need to pack carefully 😔!

I am a rubbish light packer 😂

MissConductUS · 18/07/2024 18:51

Havoc, it's good to know that I'm not the only gadget geek here. The Sony headphones arrived last night and I set them up this morning. The sound is amazing and the noise cancellation is so much better than with my AirPods. They are Sony WM4s if you're interested.

Deathray, that sounds very frustrating about the phone. I hope you get it sorted soon.

Bizzey, I always want to over pack too. I hope you have a lovely trip.

DD and SiL are coming home late Friday to start packing for their move. He will then be gone for about a week, and will return for them to drive to their new location together.

DS received a job offer this morning. There are some pros and cons to it, so he wants to think about it. I suspect he'll take it, as it ticks a lot of boxes for him. If he does, he'd relocate to Boston. I was hoping he'd be closer, but it's not terrible. It's about a four hour drive. He went to uni very near Boston, so he knows and likes the area.

The turtles are keeping cool on the log in the reservoir. This looks like a little turtle family.

Was out and about today ...and decided that jeans would be too uncomfortable if the weather does go up to the top side .....

Soooo...I decided I would wear my lovely " loose " comfy trousers (that I wore on a plane 2 years ago )...

Hummmm 🤔🤔🤔😕😧😬!

They ...ummm seem to have shrunk while being in the wardrobe 😕😂😂😂!

It is good news in a way ...as I was not very well some years ago ...and list alot of weight.

But now I am putting it it back on gradually...it still shocks me ! 😂

I am determined to go with the smallest backpack ever ...just to give the boys a shock and laugh 😁!

I have little tubs /sample size to decant things into ...

This is going to be massive for me if I can actually do this 😂😂!

Penguinsa · 18/07/2024 19:59

Thanks Havoc Your lunch sounds lovely. Hope weather gets better for you soon.

Hope you can get phone sorted Death

Have a lovely time away Bizzey

Congrats on DSs job offer MissC and love the turtles.

Have sorted through first parcel we got yesterday - I have the rose candle and rose handcream and ate the 2 truffles yesterday. Floof took the boxes and string that came with them though he could only fit his two front paws in the box as his bum was too big for it and he was rather baffled as to what he could do with a box that just his front paws could go in so he lay next to it. Luckily it came in a larger box which he sat in. Still have to sort through the other things.

The new aluminium garden table and four chairs arrived today with seat pads and DH seemed rather excited at that and announced he was mowing the lawn and setting it up so he's off doing that.

Tomorrow we go here for a tour of house and gardens, weather is expected to be very good (for a change) https://www.sezincote.co.uk/sezincote-house I am watching Netflix film on Simone Biles. DD is working at punting. DS is watching films, ipadding and eating an awful lot of biscuits. Did some washing. Ordered some food to collect.

DandyDandylion · 18/07/2024 20:29

@MissConductUS I love that picture, wish I could see turtles in the wild. The best I get is birds of prey. I see lots of buzzards, the odd kestrel and sparrow hawk and hear owls hooting if I go out after dusk. A 4 hour drive in UK would be a nightmare but I assume you have wide open spaces that are less stressful to drive through.

My dc break up for summer this week so it has been a whirlwind of end of term activities and trying to make sure everyone that needs a gift gets one.

Penguinsa · 18/07/2024 20:48

DH has just come in and says he's mowed our lawn and the neighbours as his lawnmower is broken and in for repair. He's also made the garden table and chairs and seems very pleased with them and that he made them.

Now going to have things from the kebab van for dinner as its late - I'm going to try a cheeseburger and onion rings and have a glass of coke. DD is still out at the moment.

DH will drive 4 hours sometimes here or more but depends where you are going how it is, go north and there is little traffic, go via London / M25 and can be very stop start and jams and south west in summer can be terrible for traffic. To the coast or countryside is fine from here. Tomorrow will be 3 hours on way there as we are going via somewhere else for DH and 2.5 hours back, that's further than we generally travel in a day but like seeing the countryside.

Penguinsa · 18/07/2024 21:03

Sorry Lemons just realised never answered how DS is. He's slowly getting better, spends most days now watching Netflix/TV or on his ipad gaming, eating and drinking well, bathing and dressing, doing his hair and teeth, doing some cooking and washing up and using the washing machine and drier and the bin. Goes in garden but still a long way to go. Am getting him moved to UC as LA are saying can't provide a school and home ed he won't do and its disruptive to everyone, was thinking of online but again I would have to do it and just not viable with my op looming. But will review again after op and / or if he improves further. I think its more likely to be another school year. Have cahms sign off and NHS keyworker takeover end of month though neither do anything much. We are doing the garden with lots of scented flowers as he loves flowers and the table and chairs are also partly to try and get him out more. Thanks for asking. Hope you enjoy your summer holiday.

Umanresources · 18/07/2024 21:06

Decided to paint a watercolour landscape a few days ago, so Ive prevaricated of course. This afternoon I managed to spend the whole afternoon repairing the lining of both sleeves of my OH’s waterproof coat. I was hand sewing them and loved it, as I was half watching Eric, the Benedict Cumberbatch Netflix series.

Then it was onto researching clay for our nephew’s birthday next month, Done and ordered, along with tools and a book, plus a fabulous 3D shark card.

After watching a programme about accidents and road scams, I’ve just ordered a dash cam for my daughter, because I thought the scams were quite scary! I’ve not told her because she thinks I catastrophise things too much anyway. It will be a lovely surprise for her 😂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/07/2024 00:17

Miss, I'm an information geek. 🤷‍♀️

Deathraystare · 19/07/2024 13:28

Decided not to go and buy a new phone yet. Waiting for techie porter to come in and advise!.

Re: your packing clothes. Not sure how long this weather will last. Lots of hot pants around today (no, not me!).

@Umanresources

Very sensible getting a dashcam (nearly called it a deathcam! Oops!) I too watch those programmes. Of all the nations, the Russians seem to be the most road ragey. Some countries use the horn all the time. When I was in Egypt it was a very 'horny' country!

@MissConductUS

What a lovely pic of the turtle family! One day I will get to that reservoir. You will deffo hear me before you see me as I snore worse than a whole herd of wildebeest! I will probably scare off all the little critters!

@Penguinsa

I hope you did not tell Floof his bum was too big as I am sure he is a sensitive soul!

Deathraystare · 19/07/2024 16:50

Phew! The techie porter has sorted me out I think. Tried to order a phone from Vodophone online but they insist on sending a code even though that phone is not working! So I am going tonight to an Argos in Sainsbury's after work to get one and I will not need a separate pin. I will bring it into work Monday for the porter to put the pin in I am useless!).

Well, it says they have the phone there but I am ready to be told they don't. With my luck!..

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/07/2024 20:17

Bizzey, good luck with packing light! Sorry to know you prev suffered health issues. Glad to know you're recovering. 😊
Penguinsa, what is a kebab van? I wonder if it's what we'd call a food truck. 🤔
Death, I almost think you need a MN thread about your phone saga. Almost. 😂

Took Havoc to Summer Movie Nights downtown at the art gallery last night. Lucked out and found parking about 2 blocks away around 8pm. Wandered around, took pics & selfies with, and of, Havoc, got free M&M's, coloured at the tables set up for it with books and felt pens, checked out mini golf, drew on the sidewalk with chalk provided, played with hula hoops and those rhythmic gymnastics ribbons on sticks things and Havoc found another tot to run around with before settling down on our blanket for a bit to watch the movie. Managed about 20 mins before Havoc was ready to go. It was about what I expected, though. It was late and Havoc is still too young to settle in for a movie. All in it was about a 3-hr evening with travel/walking to/from venue. So, more than enough time out.
Temp has come down. Supposed to be about 26c today.

We've decided that we're going to go to the Isle of Wight for our holiday in September. Trying to figure out ferry deals, as if I get it wrong we could end up paying £200+ for a1/2 hour ferry trip.
