@Mumtobabyhavoc I got very confused reading about your day confusion. I read it in the early hours of Saturday, but was still Friday night to me, so I thought I’d missed a day myself!

I’ve got two photos of our Parish Pantomimes. One of our teachers used to write, produce and direct the pantomimes and each year the 7/8 yr olds used to take part alongside the adults. Our mums made the hats and collars on the sailor costumes and we had white T-shirts and white pleated skirts. We had to dance onto the stage to the sailors hornpipe. The pantomime was Aladdin and my brother was in Cinderella. The mums had to sew all the buttons on the hats, trousers and waistcoats because they were Pearly Kings and Queens.

Helena I hope parents realise how many hours you are working with and for their children. Thank goodness you should be able to have a rest during the summer break, although I remember working long hours during the holidays.

MissC swordfish sounds really tasty. We had prawns and a green salad tonight as the weather was quite balmy. I could hear some neighbours having a barbecue and thankfully the rain kept off.

It’s the Men’s Final at Wimbledon tomorrow and the football final, so we’ll have to fit in our FaceTime with family abroad in between. Oh and there is a charity bicycle ride from Manchester to Blackpool which goes past the house. There are hundreds taking part and some of the cyclists used to wear fancy dress and call with buckets for donations. I used to have to give money to my children to donate. It’s going to be a very sporty day tomorrow!

Uman, love your pics! So cute! 🥰
Yes, 8 hours behind you here. 😁

Havoc is napping and I'm keeping and eye on baby who is crawling and exploring. Also drinking cold milk latte and scrolling MN. Am rather invested in the thread about the woman/only mum in a group on girls' trip and ditched by friend who insisted she go along and snubbed by the others. 💁‍♀️

Umanresources · 13/07/2024 22:59

One of the girls on the photo had been my friend since we were at nursery when we were 2. We were in the same class in primary school, then both of us went onto grammar school, where we were in the same class there. We stayed friends after school for a couple of years, I moved to Canada for a while and she moved abroad. We met up again in antenatal classes. We were back to being giggly schoolgirls again (we were both 29) and we were asked to leave as the others couldn’t relax. I couldn’t get up off the floor for laughing and had to be helped up by other pregnant women! My friend ended up coming to teach at the same school as me for a while, and we kept in touch ever since.

Penguinsa · 13/07/2024 23:04

Thanks Havoc Hope you enjoyed the cake.

Thanks MissC Swordfish sounds lovely.

Lovely pictures Uman

Glad you had a good day Lemons

14 hours Helena sounds exhausting but glad to hear the music is improving.

Just did 4 hours gardening with DH and we are both worn out but we got 8 new plants planted and filled a green bin and it looks much better. It was dark when we finished. Got a Chinese meal as it was very late after finished - I took a bath and saw it was past 10pm. Thankfully the Chinese shuts at 10.30pm on Saturdays just for emergencies like this. Had a mixed starter box. Now having a milky coffee.

DD has been punting all day and then out with friends. Trying to get everything ready pre op on 6 August and DH is away 8 days, will do it but its quite full on getting all house and garden ready and DS sorted and things for op. Every time we garden have to redo were we did last time a little bit so always takes longer than you think. Looking much better with the 9 sacks, fence panels and old bench and old table and chairs collected yesterday. Have a new aluminium table and chairs arriving on 18th with padded seats. Not sure if will do more gardening before then, both green bins are full and black bin is more than full, it gets collected on Wednesday. We seem to have a lot of ladders, maybe 4 sets, no idea why we have so many.

mathanxiety · 14/07/2024 04:00

I made it back, and after a horrible sinking feeling when the carousel stopped revolving and I had only found one of my bags, was reunited with the second of my checked bags, on a completely different carousel.

I woke at 3am and still need to figure out what time it is/ where I am/ what end of me is up. My fitbit is still on Irish time, and my circadian clock is too, it seems.

DD reminded me that the local library sale was today, so I went, and came back with a good haul for $25. I was very organised this year, with my reading glasses on a chain, and I drove there and parked early.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/07/2024 08:19

Math, I know that feeling as my suitcase was once left behind when I was travelling and I think I was without it for three days, or so. I was so lucky the airline got it back to me! I think they care much less these days, though. Glad yours was just last and not lost. 😁
Hope you had a good visit home and regained your accent as I bet it has softened living in the States. 😀

I took dc out again this evening; another late night; but, I figure it's summer.... I have memories of being out with my parents as a child and being allowed to stay up late sometimes, soooo tonight it was the Greek Summer Fest in east Van at the Greek Orthodox church. Actually meant to go just after dinner, but, god, getting out the door with 2 little ones is a challenge. 😵‍💫
Only stayed a little while to listen to music and watch the Greek dancing and nibble on some Greek fries which were just seasoned fries with feta, but quite nice.
When music ended Havoc prompted me, "Clap, Mummy. You have to clap."' So we did. 🥰 Baby was quite happy and full of smiles and Havoc said, I like this party, Mummy. 🥰🥰🥰

Now just watching YT vids and eating a warm croissant with that Lindt chocolate spread I mentioned prev. 😋

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/07/2024 08:23

Penguinsa, clearly your dd takes after you in the energy dept. You with your epic gardening and her punting all day and still going out at night! 👍👏

Cake was good, btw! 😋

Lemonsandlemonade · 14/07/2024 16:29

Havoc that sounds like a lovely evening. I too have memories of summers with less strict bedtimes and routines.

Well done in the gardening Penguins

Had a shopping trip to get more trainers for DS who has gone up another size. Have to travel miles now for shoe shops that measure u you our feet. All local ones have unfortunately shut. Got a bargain reduced from £40 to £12 for nice trainers for DS.

5 more days in work for me before summer break!

my throat and chest is hurting today though.

m Will probably watch the football later

MissConductUS · 14/07/2024 17:27

Penguinsa, your pre op exam should be quick. Mostly they want blood tests.

Math, I'm glad you're back safe and sound, luggage adventure aside. You're just in time for more political drama.

Havoc, that Greek festival looks like great fun. Has it gotten any cooler?

DD and SiL are still in Virginia. I think I'll text her ask if they can do a Zoom call tonight.

I bought the new Amazon Echo Spot alarm clock. It was 44% off for Prime members. I love having one I can set with voice commands.

I looked out the kitchen window this morning and saw three very large male turkeys in the front yard.

Bit of heartbreak for England, but well done Spain. 👏

MissConductUS · 14/07/2024 22:55

Sorry about the football result.

Lemons, well done on the shoe shopping. Do you have an idea as to why your throat and chest are hurting?

We had a Zoom call with DD and SiL. They're fine and will be with his relatives for at least the rest of this week. We discussed their plans to move to the Midwest for his graduate studies.

DH has made Mongolian Beef for dinner. He did it in the Instant Pot, so it didn't heat up the kitchen.

My 7 year old grandson made Eton mess today from start to finish

Penguinsa · 14/07/2024 23:52

Glad you are back fine Math

Greek summer fest sounds lovely Havoc DD has way more energy than me - she left around 7am yesterday, did a full days work including 5 hours sport then went out with friends and only arrived back at 2pm today, they all stopped a a friends house who she says has enough space for 800 people. 😎She has rested though since being back.

Thanks Lemons Have you got any plans for the summer break?

Lovely photo MissC

Welcome Gettingstuffed

Was quite tired today after all the gardening yesterday but did get the 24 page plus additions form for DS done and completed and printed out ready to send recorded tomorrow. Glad to have that out the way. Then DH has piano in the evening. We may go out in the day as DH is still off work but weather is very rainy so maybe indoor swimming pool. Been ordering lots of things for after op and when DH is away and for garden.

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/07/2024 06:59

Miss C I'm not sure it's worse in the morning and at night ( prob coz of laying down) I seem to pick something up every 6 weeks or so.

Penguin - little family holiday a trip to see family then lots of slower days! How is your DS?

DandyDandylion · 15/07/2024 07:29

Lemons - sorry don’t know if this is teaching grandma to suck eggs, but have you had your bloods run recently?. I had back to back colds last winter and when I casually mentioned it at a doctors appointment, the doctor said let’s check bloods. Turned out I was very low in vitamin d and now it is normal I am throwing things off much more easily.

Stuffed - wow that’s one keen baker, I’ve never made Eaton mess but guess it is easier than the meringue roulades I do make. I might give it a go, I do have some strawberries growing at the moment.

MissConductUS · 15/07/2024 11:34

Welcome, @GettingStuffed, and thanks for sharing your calming pudding-related news. I have to confess that I needed to google Eton mess. It looks delicious and very summery.

It's already 97% relative humidity and hot here.

@HelenaJustina

Ha ha! Good answer re children!

@MissConductUS
Those turkeys are brave! Mind you it is not thanksgiving!! Nice pics as usual

I won't show you my latest pic, not taken by me but by a friend of my back leg with a huge bite. Looks like a crater. I wanted her to see it (as I couldn't as I wondered if I could squeeze it, though it was rock hard!) Answer no, nothing to squeeze!

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Nice to know havoc got into the Greek spirit! In years to come they may like to join in the dancing!

Had a good Saturday and Sunday as went to the theatre (different places).

The first one was a musical called Fangirls. It was Australia and a real laugh! About fans of Harry Styles at an all girls school. The other one was more serious though there were some laughs. It was called blessing - an Irish family in the 60's. A daughter gets pregnant and the mum was typically annoyed by it but then you find out what a hypocrite she was as her youngest daughter was the priest's daughter!!

Flumpie59 · 15/07/2024 13:46

I had a glass of milk this morning to wash my daily blood pressure pills down with.

Sat on the edge of the bed last night about 11 guzzling a can of Coke.

So exciting!

Deathraystare · 15/07/2024 14:51

@Flumpie59

For some reason I prefer tea to have with all my pills (BP, heart, Diabetes, Cholesterol).

I decided to throw caution to the wind and wear white trousers -which I never would have dared pre-menopause! Of course my wound behind my leg that I mentioned above seeps through with pin pricks of blood!!!!

MissConductUS · 15/07/2024 15:31

Welcome, @Flumpie59, and thanks for sharing your calming medication news. I take mine with ice cold water, probably because Americans put ice in everything. Just avoid grapefruit juice, as it can cause excess absorption of some BP meds. I envy you having a coke at 11:00 PM. The caffeine would have kept me up all night.

I am wearing navy trousers that I bought on Amazon recently. They have some nice clothes on there.

Ouch Death that sounds painful!
Greek fest sounds amazing Havoc, I bet the food was lovely. Did they have stalls?
Helena enjoy your well deserved rest.
Penguinsa your daughter sounds amazing. So energetic!
DS1 has passed his driving test.
He is going up Pen y Fan later this week with friends. I am a bit worried.
Well done to your grandson Gettingstuffed. I do like Eton mess.

bizzey · 15/07/2024 20:10

I have just opened the filter plug on my washing machine.....

I think was ready with the towels and a bit of an overflow.....

Seems like I misjudged the problem
😬🤣🤣🤣🤽👢👢!!

bizzey · 15/07/2024 20:14

Ohhh my god ,,Machine !!
Are you having a laugh 🤣!

Something was not spinning .. so I thought..yep I know how to fix that !

Lots of water came out ...but no gunk ...

Silver lining and all that ....
Floor is clean and wiped over now 🤣

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 30: Calmly through the day
bizzey · 15/07/2024 20:20

Put a 15 min wash on now to see how it is goes .......

The excitement is almost on a par with last night 🤣🤣🤣

sproutsandparsnips · 15/07/2024 20:26

But Bizzey, if there is no blockage, why not spinning?
Was there an imbalance in the drum perhaps?
I await with bated breath the outcome of your 15 minute cycle.
