Plants arrived (left in "safe place" by yodel of in the road 🙄) and had steak, mash and green beans for dinner. Put the green and blue bins out for collection. DD very happy with how exam went.

bizzey · 11/06/2024 21:30

MissC ...glad you are recovering!

I think your DD and husband are roughly the same age as my ds1.

Strangely enough...while looking for some photos this evening in the dreaded drawer under the bed ...
I came across his and ds2 's Red Book !

The Red Book was an important thing for children of my lots age group .
Not sure if they have something different now ? 🤔.

It basically charts all their weight /growth/ injections /problems and stuff since birth .

Both their percentiles that they were plotted on are very accurate !

Still haven't found what I actually started to look for mind !

But have had a fun evening reminiscing with all the other things I have found !

bizzey · 11/06/2024 23:31

Still on the reminiscing route !

D's showed me a "spot" thing on his thigh and asked if it looked ok.

I said ...ohh that looks fine ...not infected or anything...just drying out...might be an inverted hair follicle thing ...nothing to worry about ..
here ...put some of this Seudocrem on it and it will be fine ..

24 years ..I have been using this cream ...it is always my go to cream........

He looked at me with a shocked face ...and said ...

Is this the same pot ? ! 😂😂😂😂

I mean ...I know I am a hoarder ...but that would be taking it too far even by my standards 😂😂😂.

(Don't know what Seudocrem translates to across the pond ...but for UK ...it is the holy grail of everything child related ! )

From nappy changing to scrapes and grazed !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/06/2024 00:37

Bizzey, yep, have got a jar of it , too. Used same here. Also Penaten/zinc cream for same uses.

MissConductUS · 12/06/2024 14:24

Bizzey

I had to read this twice

I think your DD and husband are roughly the same age as my ds1.

At first I read it as "your DD and your husband" and couldn't get my head around it. Then I figured out that you meant your DD and her husband. 😁

They are both 22 years old.

DD texted me this morning to tell me they arrived safely in Japan. She also mentioned that the hotel charged her for two nights in the bridal suite when the night of the wedding was supposed to be free, so DH is on the case to get her a refund.

I saw Mama and Baby Duck this morning on the spillway. The duckling was frolicking in the lower part, which concerned me as I have seen some ducklings washed away after they could not get back up to the main level. This one has mastered climbing up on the dirt and plants someone put over on the left side of the spillway for this purpose.

It's a lovely day here, but it's supposed to get hot later this week. I'll have to check the weather in Japan so that I know what DD is dealing with.

On the Seudocrem issue, I have never heard of it and had to google it, so I don't think it's available in the US. We do have a topical cream containing zinc called Destine that's widely used for diaper rash and minor cuts and irritations, so that's our version.

Cattery · 12/06/2024 15:06

Very dull newsflash: I had to wipe some sleep from the cat’s eye. He was good and let me do it with a tissue. Bless him 🐈‍⬛

MissConductUS · 12/06/2024 20:34

Cattery, my boy cat lets me do that too, which is odd as he really doesn't like to be picked up or messed with. I've never needed to do it with our female cat.

I saw the pair of cormorants on the reservoir this afternoon. I rarely see them. I think it's because they spend so much time underwater. They submerged immediately after I took this.

DS is looking for a new job, and he may have found one. If he takes it, he'd be about an hour and a half drive away, which isn't awful.

Desitin is indeed the pasty diaper cream. I always used A&D ointment. It smells of fish, but worked really well. I only bought one tube and it lasted about 12 years.
I think Desitin and Sudacreme are the same.

mathanxiety · 12/06/2024 20:46

I spent the morning finding and trashing thousands of emails. I had emails from one long gone supermarket and one department store that closed back in 2016, and thousands of others, including rotas for altar serving for years and years.

I came across one snippy email exchange between me and the DCs' PE teacher from their elementary school, a woman who got all my DCs' very straightforward names and their phonetically spelled surname wrong all the time. She reported to me that youngest DD was frequently missing PE because she never had her PE gear or sneakers. Also complained that DD's shorts were far too short on the occasions when she didn't have to sit out. I must have tackled DD about all of this because I emailed back that DD had promised to stop rolling the waistband of her shorts, and that her T-shirt and sneakers were in her locker, and also corrected her spelling of DD's four-letter first name. Amazing the things you forget completely.

This afternoon I have to go through my photos.

Penguinsa · 13/06/2024 09:45

Hope your DSs new job is offered soon MissC and that your DD is having a great time on honeymoon in Japan.

Did a couple of hours gardening with DH yesterday and clearing the garden shed, and filled 1.5 green bins and 4 black sacks. We started to plant the new plants that arrived but only go to 4 out of 12 or so, so will need to continue. I planted 3 French red lavenders which smell really nice though aren't the most hardy.

DD went out with her boyfriend yesterday and they went to pizza hut (she loves that place) but they got the order wrong for her as well but sorted it, for mine in the end they refunded £23.50 out of £38 and we still got most of the food so pretty good in the end. Her boyfriend wants to borrow Floof for the day at his house which is fine for me, Floof loves people and her boyfriend is not allowed a cat but besotted with Floof, he has a cuddle with Floof and takes him in his car every time he drops DD off. DD said she's said no as she thinks Floof won't behave and her boyfriend has said but surely you will control him. 😂He seems to have now got his Mum round from no cat to its fine with me to have a cat but not fine with your Dad.

Hope everything is OK Havoc

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2024 12:19

Just up with baby. It's 4am. Sunlight is stretching along the horizon behind the mountains.

Math, that's a lot of emails! I save them, too. Maybe I ahould purge the many categories I have...
Miss, Japan is awesome. She'll love it.
Penguinsa, Havoc is much better. Thanks. 🩷I've got the cold now. Sinuses are stuffed. Feeling rotten. Baby also congested with bit of a cough.
You seem on a gardening roll! I love lavender, but I think we only really have one variety here. It seems to be planted everywhere, though. I'll try to remember to post a pic. I'm going to google red lavender, now! ☺️

DandyDandylion · 13/06/2024 13:53

Could I join? I’ve just heard my 2 year old cat who has a heart murmur has come round from general anaesthetic at the vets. I felt the need to share this news but it is too dull to bother people in the real world!

Penguinsa · 13/06/2024 14:16

Welcome Dandy Of course you can join and we always love a cat photo or 10 if you want to share. Glad that your cat came round OK from the ga. I have a 2 year old cat called Floof, he's a tabby Maine Coon, so a big cat.

Hope you feel better soon Havoc We have quite a few lavenders here, often get my plants from RHS, they are more expensive but seem to last longer.

MissConductUS · 13/06/2024 14:21

Welcome, @DandyDandylion, and thanks for sharing the news regarding your feline overlord. We love cats on this thread, and cat pictures are always appreciated.

Was the surgery related to the heart murmur?

Havor, lavender was one of DD's wedding colors and we had sprigs of lavender at the place settings and as boutonnières for the men.

OP posts:
DandyDandylion · 13/06/2024 14:31

The surgery was to remove most of his teeth as he had such a stubborn gum problem this was the only way to treat it. The vet said it was worst case she had ever seen and probably a result of being in an overcrowded rescue as a kitten. They kept him till 6 months so they could monitor his heart issue. He is the best cat ever though, purrs if anyone goes near him and loves a big dollop of tuna mayo. Will post a photo once I get him home.

bizzey · 13/06/2024 15:23

Dandy ...hello !
Cats are very important on this thread and am wishing a speedy recovery 🐱 🐱!

I have decided to turn the spare room into an office type of room !

Took me a while to work out how I was going to use the rooms after ds moved out ...

But I have made a decision!

All box files and stuff can go in there on the desk ...instead of the "dressing table " of my bedroom !

As always with me ....it is a work in progress 🤩 🤩!😁😂

Started off with a lot of things being moved round and in the undecided bin of charity or keep ...

and an awful lot of stuff on the landing as undecided!!

But ...I must have my Lunar Spurt thing at the moment ...so I am going with it all !

bizzey · 13/06/2024 16:07

Flips sake .. ! ds 1 is an even bigger hoarder than me !! 😁😁😂

The desk unit thing I am sorting through has now made me the the proud owner of £100 cash ...(Though the £20 notes are the old ones that I think I can change up ? 🤔😞)

And 3 x £10 amazon gift cards 😂😂..

I have managed to put 2 X gift cards onto our Amazon account that ds uses ...but not sure how long it will stay there for !

Can't get the 3rd card to activate !

What a find !!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2024 16:47

Cattery, nice to see you here again. 👍
Dandy, welcome. ☺️
Penguinsa, thanks for the link. Before I went back to bed I found kew lavender. Very pretty. 😍
Miss, the lavender must've been a nice addition at the wedding.💐
Bizzey, windfall!!! 🤑

DandyDandylion · 13/06/2024 16:47

I took an old £20 into my bank branch last week and they just swapped it for a new one. The Challenge was actually getting myself into a branch as most near me have shut down.
The overlord is home and sticking his tongue out lots as he tries to work out what has gone on. I soaked some biscuits and put them next to the normal ones. He sniffed them and then tucked straight into the dry ones. The methadone they gave him must still be in effect.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 30: Calmly through the day
Penguinsa · 13/06/2024 17:41

Lovely cat Dandy That's like postman pats cat.

Hope you feel better soon Havoc

Floof had developed a bald spot on his neck and DH just took him to the vet to check the cause, DD was very worried about him. He's allergic to the new flea treatment the vet gave him. So will use the one we used before which is for small cats though and he's 1.2 metres of cat but maybe we can get same for bigger cats or use several.

DH has gone to collect a mattress topper for me and just ordered another pizza. Will need to put 6 sacks and old mattress topper out for collection tonight and make 2 of those sacks. Will also clean floor downstairs.

MissConductUS · 13/06/2024 20:28

I love a tuxedo cat, Dandy. What a handsome boy.

I had an older cat who had most of her teeth removed. She did fine afterward.

DH has gotten the inn to refund half of the charge for the suite DD stayed in, as we were supposed to get the wedding night for free. They were quite apologetic about the error on their part.

OP posts:
Penguinsa · 13/06/2024 20:37

That's good they have refunded though bad they charged in the first place. We had the first night of our honeymoon in Hotel Ibis Orly Airport as flying from Paris and they were as usual on strike.

Had the pizza and bags and old mattress topper out for recycling. DD got 2 bags from her room.

mathanxiety · 13/06/2024 21:15

Lovely cat, Dandy. I hope he'll shake off the anesthesia well. He looks very alert and happy. My Dcat refused water for weeks after being spayed. I had to add water to her wet food to make sure she stayed hydrated. Then one day we heard her lapping from her bowl and she was fine again.

The email total came to over 16,000. I have vowed to keep up with deletions from now on. I also unsubscribed from a dozen really bad offenders, so I think I'll be able to keep a handle on it.

I also dumped several items from my deck over the last week - some planter pots that were too big and missing saucers, and an old cooler with a disintegrating plug. I saw cars draw up in the alley to take a look, and it was all gone in two days.

We are experiencing a heatwave here, with daytime temps around 33C and not a lot cooler at night. The day lilies around town are blooming several weeks ahead of their normal schedule.

Glad your DH was able to sort out the overcharge, MissC.

MissConductUS · 13/06/2024 21:29

Math, it's hot here too. 88F right now. Fortunately, the AC is working fine.

I can't get too upset about the overcharge. The service during the reception was flawless, and the events manager was there the whole time to make sure everything was done properly. I think when DD checked out, the front desk agent saw that she had been there for two nights, so that's what she got charged. Ideally, they would have a way of fixing the charge in their reservation system. Of all of the things that could have gone wrong, this was pretty minor and easily fixed.
