Sorry for your loss Miss holding your family in prayer.

Penguinsa · 08/05/2024 22:31

So sorry for the loss of your MIL MissC

Penguinsa · 08/05/2024 22:32

Hope Havoc is getting better

Glad all is well Helena

Thanks Death

bizzey · 08/05/2024 23:25

Ohh MissC ...so sorry for your loss .
Where joy is blooming ...heartbreak is only around the corner 💔

My heart goes out to all of you x

mathanxiety · 09/05/2024 01:04

So sorry for your loss, MissC and your DH and DCs.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 09/05/2024 16:55

Havoc my daughter is focusing on history/anthropology. She is at the same university as MissC's daughter and she's had a great time there.

MissC I'm so sorry about your MIL. Even when it's expected it's still very sad. I hope your kids are OK too - losing a grandparent can be tough.

MissConductUS · 09/05/2024 19:12

ZZ, I think it is hard for the kids, but they seem to be holding up okay. It's quite the coincidence that both of our daughters ended up at the same small university, innit?

There were three turtles on the log today, perhaps a small family. Our little ginger boy has worn a permanent dent in the couch cushion. He alternates between it and the heated cat bed below.

Well it looks like new toilet roll holder and new electric scrubbing brush had a falling out over night !!

This morning new toilet roll holder was on the floor and new electric scrubbing brush was proudly leant over the area of the wall where the new toilet roll holder had been proudly portrayed on the wall !!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣..

New toilet roll holder has been comforted and put back in place ....

New electric scrubbing brush has been scolded and dismantled and put into the mesh netting bag that it came with !!

Which to be fair ....should have been fine earlier...just unfortunately....the appropriate adult got distracted!
🤣

Penguinsa · 10/05/2024 20:09

DH has gone to France for a couple of days for eye check, to see his Mum and friends etc.

Watching Eurovision and Great Australian railways.

DD is revising for A levels. DS had one very unsettled night when DH was here but is now calm again.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/05/2024 21:02

Sounds like a good cocooning weekend for you Penguinsa. Glad your son is ok. 💕
Busy driving day yesterday. Car to shop 7:30 this morning, but only cost a bit over $100 for new belt and minor electrical so totally worth the sleep deprivation as I've been up since 4:30. Havoc is napping, baby is giggling after a sneeze and bobbing back and forth and I've just finished a latte, croissant with pb&j then another one warmed with choc chips. 😛😛😛
It's Mother's Day on Sunday here. I'm having cake.

bizzey · 10/05/2024 21:20

Duvet cover and sheet were washed and dried with our amazing weather at the moment ...and put back on the bed ...

But for some strange reason ...I don't feel like I have changed my duvet cover ...as it is the same one !

Saved having to go into the airing cupboard twice ...but just feels weird tonight 🤔😁😅!

sproutsandparsnips · 10/05/2024 23:07

Miss so very sorry for your loss.
Bizzey I forgot to wash the scheduled bedding this week on my day off so will have to do it tomorrow.
I also forgot to put the food waste out this week. Not been a good week on the domestic front!
DS failed his driving test. Apparently he was asked to activate the de mister when safe to do so but panicked when couldn't locate it and 'drifted'. Examiner had to put a hand on the wheel so automatic fail. He did tell DS that it was an otherwise perfect test but small consolation.......

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/05/2024 23:27

Sprouts, ouch! Likely better for examiner to note some other things to work on other than saying, You would've passed except for one error ... (despite the significance).

Bizzey, I washed my duvet cover a couple of weeks ago. It felt so fresh getting into bed that night!

eta: deletion of comment. Mixed up posts! 🤦‍♀️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/05/2024 07:54

Norther lights here. ☺️
Saw some gorgeous pics taken your side of the pond on another thread.

HildaTablet · 11/05/2024 10:41

I forgot to go out and look for the Northern Lights 🤦‍♀️ Will try again tonight.

Penguinsa · 11/05/2024 11:06

Lovely northern lights Havoc We had them here though I didn't go out but pics all over the village Facebook, think its first time they've been here or this good at least. Never used to get them here.

Sorry about driving test Sprouts

DH is in France for 2 days but back this evening and all has been fine whilst he was away. He has had his eye exam which was fine for his retina but said he had a cataract developing but he said that's normal as he had a previously detached retina.

Have a lovely Mother's Day to those who celebrate on Sunday. I just looked and its Sunday in France too. DD has been revising. She has firmed her university offer for Oxford and chosen an insurance. Doing student finance application though I have to phone as I had a loan in 1990s which was paid off in 1995 and they still have an account for me, it says give the e-mail you used but I didn't have e-mail then. And DD has to send birth certificate in.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/05/2024 18:11

If you see high streaky clouds, that's it. You may not see anything at all though with the naked eye. Look though your camera phone, flash off, and you'll see it. It was there even without seeing the "clouds". Pan around the whole sky. Last night was the strongest apparently, but should still be visible tonight and poss tomorrow.
Considering I'm in a city surrounded by suburbs it was pretty surprising viewing here. Was up with baby at 4am and still saw it, but quite gaint and only directly overhead. Apparently on the solar storm scale of 1-5, this was a 4. 🤓

mathanxiety · 12/05/2024 02:18

I went out on my deck to see if I would see the lights, but to my surprise it was raining. I hadn't heard it.

I'm going to try it again tonight.

MissConductUS · 12/05/2024 13:06

I wasn't able to see it either. I'm well far enough north, but it was too cloudy to see any thing, even the moon.

Happy Mothers' Day to all mums! HD got me these lovely begonias, a box of posh chocolates from Vermont and a card from the cats, telling me that I am the best cat mum.

I'm off to church. I think today is going to be hard for DH.

Happy Mother's Day, Miss. 💕
I've got coconut pancakes, berries, banana, maple syrup and choc whipped cream. And a latte, of course.
(all cut up as eating and nursing same time...)
Little dish has the syrup as I prefer to dip and not drown. 😄

Very very dull but I have finally stopped biting my nails at the grand old age of 37. I've been biting them since I was about 2 years old. I've even managed to grown them long enough to put some nail varnish on. They are still a bit bendy but I'm so proud of myself

Penguinsa · 12/05/2024 20:47

Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Lovely food Havoc and lovely flowers MissC

Well done and welcome Iammum

Did a couple of hours gardening with DH, lovely day here 23C and sunny. Got through a fair bit together, bin goes on Wednesday so will be able to do more then. DDs first A level exam on Tuesday.

Just had a banana split, it was like the 1970s all over again, banana, clotted cream ice cream, whipped cream and hundreds and thousands and we all had them.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/05/2024 21:11

Oh, Penguinsa that takes me back, too! When I was little it was all about a choc-dipped ice cream cone from Dairy Queen. Then it was a Banana Split which was three swirls of ice cream (it's soft serve there) with strawberry, chocolate and I think pineapple topping. After that my fave was hot fudge brownie delight. 😂 Brownie, ice cream, choc sauce, cherry on top. I don't think they have those now. Haven't been in years..

I really like the sound of your clotted cream ice cream! I also like the term, hundreds and thousands. The same is used is Australia. Here we say, sprinkles. ☺️
