Hi all 👋 how are we?

@MissConductUS is potting soil like compost in the Uk?

Trying to sort my DS' third birthday can't believe he is three soon.

Have hay fever I think.

MissConductUS · 03/05/2024 09:19

Hi lemons, lovely to see you! They grow up so fast, don't they? You'll be looking at universities before you know it.

My hay fever is always awful this time of year, particularly when tree pollen is high, as it is now. I have a headache all the time.

Potting soil is a bit different from compost. It's soil that has been aerated and has fertilizer added, along with little bits of something that looks like styrofoam. These absorb water and then slowly release it, helping manage the moisture levels. I get great results with it.

Miracle Gro Potting Soil

I have my appointment with the orthopedist this morning. I'm curious to see if he thinks my recovery is taking longer than normal or if this is par for the course.

It looks like we may not be going to our future SIL's graduation. They may not have enough tickets for the event to include us. I'm fine with that, we have our daughter's to go to in a few weeks, and the wedding of course.

It's just after 3am and just got into bed. Havoc has had a bit of a fever (now 38.7) and I've been taking temp and giving Advil/Tylenol since zppm last night. Had brief fever last night, but then was fine snd we were out for the afternoon. Baby is fine, so far, as am I.
i started a window project and finished one a few hours ago. Pic later. ☺️

Deathraystare · 03/05/2024 16:01
  • *@Mumtobabyhavoc Yes, you thought right! I am a receptionist in a mental health unit. I did say I was a 'bank' worker. Nothing to do with an actual bank. It just means a permanent temp worker you can call on when you need staff.

I had a few days off this week and last week so took the time to see a few films. I saw The Fall guy yesterday as I really like Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling. Was a great film full of action and some good laughs. The next film I want to see is The Strangers (a horror) film which is around from 17th.

Deathraystare · 03/05/2024 16:02

I am bereft now MAFSAUS has finished! I was chatting to a lady in a cafe who was catching up on it. I don't like the UK or USA one and I do not watch any of those ofther shows (Made in Chelsea/The Triangle/ Love Island)..

Luckily I have lots of audible and paper books to get through!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/05/2024 18:04

Death, ok, so it's an expression referring to permanent temps. Got it! 😁 The only MAFS I've watched was the US version back in 2015.

Just gave Havoc Tylenol&Advil. Still has fever. Still feels hot. Baby still seems ok, but sneezing.

I think potting soil and compost are the same when referring to gardening per Mr. Google and his friend Mr. Wikipedia.

MissConductUS · 03/05/2024 21:31

So I had the ortho appointment this morning. They took x-rays, and everything is normal. The soreness in my neck and shoulders is because the artificial disc is taller than the herniated one, so the muscles that support my head were stretched up 5mm or so. The good news is that I'm a bit taller now. 😂

I have two wildlife pictures from the reservoir. I'm going to guess that's a mum and juvenile turtle on the log. I can't identify the bird, but right after taking the picture he dove underwater and stayed down there for a very long time, obviously looking for fish.

Alfred the Aloe has survived the winter and is back on the deck. The trees are greening up nicely, and I have a lot of gardening to do to get the deck ready for spring and summer.

Hope Havoc is better soon.

Sorry about your allergies MissC, I get them too, and lovely pics.

Happy 3rd birthday to your DS Lemons.

Nice to have a few days off Death

Been swimming tonight and did 100 lengths and jacuzzi then came back and cleaned kitchen floor of mud from DS and then had a bath.

DD is preparing for A levels and a lot of singing to herself.

DS went in the garden bringing a whole lot of mud back in with him then had a bath with lots of floral things and changed clothes. He's leaving curtains open now for Floof to watch pigeons. Will do gardening tomorrow, weather wasn't up to it today.

bizzey · 04/05/2024 00:39

Poor little #1 baby havoc .
Hope they feel better soon x

I am still having fun and games with mam's landline !

We had an engineer around today and he sorted out her answer machine so that it kicked in before the 1571 automated answer message.

But now we have just realised...
If mam is on her landline ....and someone rings her ...it does not go to an engaged signal
..it will ring and go to voicemail!
Which is very concerning as ..

  1. if someone rings her ...they think they are leaving her a voice mail she will know about .......not a hope in hell on that one !

  2. if I ring her of an evening to check on her and she is busy chatting away to her sister....I will not know the phone is engaged...and just think she is not answering...hence massive panic !

I did a 3 way test in the phones with our landlines and my mobile to check !

I had my Miss Marple hat on this evening! 🤔🤔😂😂😅.

Why oh why do they make things so difficult for the elderly!

Hampered by the fact I am grumpy bout the election results in my area !

bizzey · 04/05/2024 00:42

Long phone call to BT tomorrow!

bizzey · 04/05/2024 00:53

Unbelievably upset as well over something that really shouldn't have affected me as much as it did ....but it did !

Tried typing it ....and deleted it ..😅😅

Completely irrational and irrelevant!

All to do with a very cheap table I have had for 17 years !

See ...I said it didn't make sense !

I was up dealing with mam all day ...took my eye of the ball ...DS2 came Nd took things for his flat ..

😔😔..
Gutted .
I want my little cheap table back as it is more than a cheap table ...it has emotional meaning!

Ds3 ..is very sensible...and says ...
Let it go ...(🎶❄️Let it go ...let it go ⛄🎶🎶)

😁😁

bizzey · 04/05/2024 00:58

I knew I didn't make sense !!

MissC said once before that this thread was a bit like a chet over a garden fence sort of chit chat ...

If I was chatting to someone over the garden fence ...I might tell them this ..but typing it all out ...just makes it sound so ridiculous! 😁😁😔😂

HildaTablet · 04/05/2024 09:30

Looks like a cormorant to me, MissC

Hope the little ones improve soon, Havoc

Bizzey, can you ask DS2 for the return of the table?

Penguinsa · 04/05/2024 17:20

Had DD chatting to me until 2am re insurance choice for university. She is apparently worried they won't have enough food for her. 🤔She's thin but does eat a lot.

Then gardening with DH for 1.5 hours, filled green bin and planted 6 lavenders and a jasmine and cleared a fair bit then had a bath and a cup of tea with shortbread.

Had smoked salmon salad for lunch with minted new potatoes and shredded carrot.

DD is punting on the river all day then back to A level revision tomorrow.

DH is just out getting more food for the silkies. Did some hoovering.

IWanderedLonely · 04/05/2024 20:36

We're in Wales (again). Here is a knitted postbox topper from Criccieth, which sadly has now forbidden overnight parking next to the beach.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 29: Calmly through the day
Penguinsa · 04/05/2024 20:57

Have a lovely time in Wales Iwandered

Just had a Thai takeaway had prawns in breadcrumbs, veg spring rolls, chicken satay and prawn toast. Floof came to stalk me but he was too late, only the veg was left at that stage.

Got another small hamper for Floof, who was very excited and trilled, a teapot, 2 tea cups, a milk jug and 2 matching plates so DH and I can have tea together.

mathanxiety · 05/05/2024 02:33

Happy birthday to DS, Lemons. Three already!

Havoc hope Havoc's fever is coming down. It's always a huge worry when someone has a stubborn fever.

Lovely wildlife pics, MissC. Good to hear your recovery is proceeding in a normal way. Don't overdo it with the gardening!

We had a hotter than normal day today. My neighbour had a Kentucky Derby / Cinco de Mayo party in the backyard in the afternoon, complete with fancy hats and fascinators and a pinata strung from a tree. The guests had to hurry indoors when a wild thunderstorm blew up.

DD made a chocolate chip cake with a cannoli filling that is proving hard to resist.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/05/2024 07:20

Sitting in hosp with Havoc. Fever went back up to 40/41 so decided better to get checked out. Poor Havoc vomited up tylenol here, but drinking some milk now.
A few other sick kids here. One has pneumonia and looks to be no older than 10. Poor thing. A few other sick babies/toddlers. 😢 Have been waiting about 2 hours since triaged.

Math, also watched Derby here at 4pm our time. Nice clean race and exciting finish! That horse on the outside made a move a little too early, I think.

Penguinsa · 05/05/2024 08:08

So sorry for Havoc and you, hope he gets seen quickly and gets better and everyone else escapes it.

Cake sounds lovely Maths

Just having tea and feeding the silkies and Floof breakfast.

HildaTablet · 05/05/2024 09:15

Oh no, Havoc ☹️ I hope you were seen quickly and treated and that things are easing now (and hopefully both are having a sleep)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/05/2024 09:38

Thanks for the kind thoughts. 🩷 Havoc has an ear infection. Was given a dose of antibiotics, a dose to take home for morning and a script to be filled. Heading home. 🥱

Penguinsa · 05/05/2024 09:54

Hope you can get some rest now Havoc and antibiotics work quickly.

MissConductUS · 05/05/2024 15:35

I hope little havoc is better now. I went through the ear infection phase with both of mine. At that age, their Eustachian tubes are horizontal and don't drain well. As their heads grow, the tubes angle down and drain better.

My daughter is home for two days. She brought down her wedding dress, winter clothes, some books, and other things she no longer needs at uni. Her room is full of all of the wedding gifts that have arrived for her. She needs to clean out her closet to make room for other things, and she'll see her finance tonight. Tomorrow, they'll have their engagement pictures taken; then she's driving back to uni on Tuesday.

It's raining here. The photos were supposed to be taken today, but it's too dark and wet outside.

I now have two 55 quart bags of Miracle Gro potting mix for the deck garden, but I can't pot plants in the rain, so that will have to wait.

Had Penne Arrabiata lunchtime. Now I made sure to ask if there was meat in it as I do not eat meat, He assured me there was not and kept emphasising the heat of the dish. Yeah that is what I like about it. Well there was a big chunk of bacon in it! I said to him that it looks like bacon. "Yes, Bacon "he agreed. I reminded him I had asked if there is meat in it (there shouldn't normally be, it is a fairly basic dish but with the addition of chilli!" I have decided not to go back again which is a shame as it has some no greasy fry up dishes. When I had the vegetable ("Is it vegetarian", "Yes" soup it had chicken in it! The VEGETARIAN grill had meat sausage in it.

Very Cross.

Yesterday the weather was nice and my friend and I had booked a walk and talk in a local cematary. It was very interesting though I am not very fit. My friend whizzed off at the end to get lunch, then as is usual for her going to see a film. I meanwhile just sat on a bench to get my breath back, get some vitamin D and chugg back some water.

Today not so good. Very very very hot shower water. I ended up trying to wash my hair in the sink, and the rest of me! Got cramps at the bus stop and unfortunately had an accident before I got to the loo. I told my colleague that from now on I will bring a change of leggings to work. I am wearing rather thin, silky black and white pants at the moment. Not what you want to be wearing when you have had an accident! Luckily I always have a change on pants as I am incontinent (from only) anyway. Hot water or not I cannot wait to get home, rinse these trousers through and have a shower!

Deathraystare · 05/05/2024 15:59

front only! not from!
