The patient in the place of safety next door is playing VERY LOUD country music. I am in pain! Anything else I could cope with.

But, yes, it is better than them yelling , kicking and screaming (just!).

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/05/2024 19:24

Death, sounds like quite a day for you. 💐

Penguinsa · 05/05/2024 21:33

How lovely to have your DD home MissC

Sorry today has been difficult Death

Hope Havoc is improving.

Had a lovely day today went canoeing for 3 hours with DH in the countryside and saw herons, cows, lots of birds, ducks, swans and fluffy brown sheep, lovely sunny day and quite idyllic. Then went to the restaurant with DH, had a mocktail each, I had a strawberry daquiri one then had a meal with crab, avocado and fruit, sparkling water and a caffe latte. I did resist the lovely sounding Sunday roast which said it had 2,400 calories in. DH had fish, chips and peas, a mocktail and a coffee.

Now back home, had a bath and will have a tea and shortbread. DD has been out with her boyfriend all day, currently at dinner together and DS has been in the garden and taken a bath.

Hope everyone has a good rest of bank holiday weekend.

I hope little havoc is better now. I went through the ear infection phase with both of mine. At that age, their Eustachian tubes are horizontal and don't drain well. As their heads grow, the tubes angle down and drain better.

My daughter is home for two days. She brought down her wedding dress, winter clothes, some books, and other things she no longer needs at uni. Her room is full of all of the wedding gifts that have arrived for her. She needs to clean out her closet to make room for other things, and she'll see her finance tonight. Tomorrow, they'll have their engagement pictures taken; then she's driving back to uni on Tuesday.

It's raining here. The photos were supposed to be taken today, but it's too dark and wet outside.

I now have two 55 quart bags of Miracle Gro potting mix for the deck garden, but I can't pot plants in the rain, so that will have to wait.

My DD is coming home tomorrow for a few days then also going back to uni - she’s in the choir that will be singing the alma mater at graduation (and other songs at other events over the previous two days).

It’s all getting really close for your DD now isn’t it? Have you got yourself a nice frock for the wedding?

I was also supposed to be potting plants on the deck today but it’s raining here too.

Penguinsa · 05/05/2024 22:39

Enjoy your DD being home ZZ

Hope everything is fine with you @HelenaJustina

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/05/2024 02:35

Penguinsa, what a nice Sunday you had! 😃
Food and drink all sound good. God, I haven't had a fancy drink like that in ages - alcohol or not! What a treat. 😛
ZZ, nice to hear from you! You must be very proud of your dd. How exciting that she will be singing in the grad choir. What is her major?
Iwandered, I meant to comment on your pic in Wales. Is is a common locals' practice to make mail box covers? I might have to google this! 🤓

Havoc slept a good portion of the afternoon and I got the antibiotics from the pharmacy and picked up a few grocery items. Will have to do a proper shop in a day or two. Havoc seems to be a bit better as fever has cone down temp in the 37s. Has had a bit to eat now as a result. 😅
Dinner was chicken thighs I roasted over onion and mushrooms; boiled corn on the cob with butter; and boiled new potatoes with butter and fresh dill; and sour cream on the side.

HelenaJustina · 06/05/2024 10:09

Thanks for the check-in Penguinsa all okay here. Super busy with work, DC1 GCSE revision, DC2,3 and 4 sporting fixtures and competitions plus some social engagements.
Glad everyone doing okay and Havoc is on the mend. Take care

Deathraystare · 06/05/2024 14:23

Ooh! @Penguinsa

Lovely photos!

Typical Bank Holiday weather! Rain, rain, rain!

I think I must have had a 24 hours virus yesterday. As well as the stomach cramps my hed felt tender. Not exactly aching, but like I had a too tight helmet on. Had some pro biotic yoghurt last night and this morning and am back to my usual self (creaky and achey, but alive!!).

Apparently the staff next door where tryig to get the patient to turn down the noise but he kept hiding the remote control!!! It is quieter now though.

MissConductUS · 06/05/2024 14:56

It's good to see you, ZZ, and well done to your daughter for participating in the choir and commencement ceremonies.

It is getting really close to the wedding - June 8th. I found a suitable dress months ago (blue, with silver accents), and the alterations are done. DD likes the dress.

Havoc decorated postboxes are a recent thing, possibly since Covid? Not a common sight, but not really rare either. We've had a couple where I live and have seen quite a few on holidays. They tend to be seasonal or for special occasions- lots for the late Queen's platinum jubilee.
We explored Anglesey a bit this weekend, what a gorgeous island! Definitely on my list to go back to.

I bought myself a protective crystal this weekend, not sure if I believe it, but willing to try anything to feel mentally better

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/05/2024 23:00

Iwandered, I just read a BBC article about it. Thanks for the pic and info. It's a lovely thing to do. 🥰

Just waiting for a banana bread to come out of the oven. I had a block of dark Callebaut chocolate, so I chopped some of that as well as pecans and added them in. Looking forward to a nice big piece with butter and a latte.

I'm pretty sure I spelled Callebaut wrong, but I'm too lazy to look it up even though that will take just as long as typing this sentence and fixing typos considering I'm a thumb-only typer. 😂🤷‍♀️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/05/2024 23:10

@justbliss @strawberriesarenot

Just tagging a couple prev posters to say Hi. 🥰

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/05/2024 23:15

Still steaming, but I can't wait... 😛😛😛

HildaTablet · 07/05/2024 12:06

It is Callebaut, Havoc. Ask me how I know eyes huge 2.5 kg bag of Callebaut chocolate chips in pantry, bulk-bought online for convenience. Well, that’s my excuse.

bizzey · 07/05/2024 14:58

Hello my friends 😁.

I am sitting in the garden with a cuppa watching my stupidly massive sitting room net curtain on the line blowing beautifully in beautiful sunshine 😍!

I have also been playing round with my new scrubber toy !

Electric charged scrubbing thing for things !

I had a practice on the bathroom tiles 😨!

I went from ... ohhh this is good...

to ....ohhhh ....that is disgusting what is dripping down to the lower tiles !!

I think it is definitely a slow work job ...as opposed to miracle in one go !

I blame the adverts for those sort of things though!

They wipe ...and ...it is clean !

Nahhh... real life needs a bit of elbow grease !

Off now to try another head attachment in my new toy !

bizzey · 07/05/2024 16:35

Shower curtain is drying on the line as well now 🤔😁!

I am sure there is a logical thinking somewhere in that !

bizzey · 07/05/2024 16:37

i have put the big pile of ds's washing that he surprised 😮 me with in the tumble dryer though!!

washed first obviously!

bizzey · 07/05/2024 16:39

About to look empty the underneath bed space in the boys beds !
Wish me luck 🍀 😁!

bizzey · 07/05/2024 17:00

Exciting boring news ....🥁🥁🥁

Shower curtain is now ready to go back up!
😁😁

bizzey · 07/05/2024 18:17

My house right now ..
Is smelling the aroma of the old public swimming pools 😀 😀!

Ahhh ...good old '70s /'80's nostalgia for those who remember!

IWanderedLonely · 07/05/2024 20:53

My house is a tip Bizzey.
Never any time (or energy) to do more than the bare minimum. It depresses me, but no-one else seems to notice or care.
I need my entire family to disappear for at least 6 months to get straight.😂

In other dull news, I have some yellowing whites and I have seen a Nancy Birtwhistle Insta showing how to get them bright white again. I'm waiting for a sunny day. . .

MissConductUS · 08/05/2024 18:49

Hilda, I think you're right about the bird I saw on the reservoir being a cormorant. I saw him and Mr Duck today, but too far away to get a proper picture.

I saw the crane bend over, capture a small fish from the reservoir, and swallow it. So this is a before picture, a picture while swallowing, then a picture of him back on the watch for more fish.

DH had some bad news this morning. His mum passed away overnight, peacefully in her sleep. She had been in hospice care since January, so it was not unexpected. I don't know when we'll have the service since we have DD's graduation on the 19th and then the wedding. It will probably be in between those two events.

She was a lovely MIL, always very kind and respectful to me, and very close to the kids. She also generously contributed to their astronomical uni costs (we're in the US). She'll be missed very much.

halfpasteleven · 08/05/2024 22:10

Sorry for your loss Miss.

Also I was so sorry to read of Tilllys passing.

May they rest in peace.

HildaTablet · 08/05/2024 22:17

So sorry to hear about your DMIL, MissC. I hope your DH and DCs are doing as OK as possible. That’s a lot of major life events your family will be going through in a short time.
