Penguinsa, quite a step forward for your ds! 👏
re the whipped/whipping cream and coffee cream: I'd be curious to know if the mf percentages are same as ours.

Penguinsa · 24/02/2024 07:47

These are our creams, forgot the clotted cream which is mainly for scones. Single is about 19% fat and double twice that so c38%.

Yes DS is getting better slowly, yesterday DH went in the kitchen and found DS in there using the microwave to make himself a drink. And on my Amazon he has searched for books to read on kindle. Won't have read them but it's a sign of life. He opened a model to make I bought him as well and is still bathing with enough rose to open his own florists.

Penguinsa · 24/02/2024 07:52

And the creme fraiche is a bit sour like maybe use on fajitas.

HelenaJustina · 24/02/2024 08:04

Havoc how scary! Well done you and DS for staying so calm!

math they are 12,14, and 16 so left them at home to get on with their work! I have the parent version of their homework app so could prod them by text if nothing was disappearing from it as they completed it!

Busy weekend of extended family birthdays so need to crack on with housework today and also do some ‘work work’. But currently outside the swimming pool psyching myself to get out into the -3 weather and go for a careful slippery run!

Lemonsandlemonade · 24/02/2024 08:09

Havoc how scary for you. My DM did that with my DN her GD to this day her mum and dad don't know. ( DN is nearly 18! 😂).

It's very cold here.

Tofay we have child for respite care. We may end up going to the garden centre as it's so cold.

@bizzey
Ah! The joys of passport photos. Mine used to look really glamourous but not the last one. I was dashing about getting very sweaty and decided on a whim to get some passport photos done. The photographer lady gave me some tissues to wipe my fat, sweaty face. I had my hair back in a pony tail which I normally only do when my hair is dirty or I am tidying up.

I looked like a victorian cook! The worse thing is that a few times I have to send off a scan of my passport photo for things like a bus pass so I come across it quite a lot.

Not quite as bad as my mum's last passport photo. She resembled Myra Hindley but with different coloured hair!

For those across the pond who might not have heard about her, she was an absolute monster who killed children with her boyfriend.

@MissConductUS

Love the birdy pic! When I used to go to Richmond and sit by the water there was always a heron nearby.

Havoc that all sounds very a bit stressful! Good to hear that Havoc wasn’t too panicked by it all. Did he enjoy all the trucks and firemen arriving with their sirens blaring? 🚒

Not quite the same, but talking of car malfunctions….I once took my (teenage) niece out shopping and left her sitting in the car while I nipped out first to get something quickly before we headed off together. Out of total habit I absentmindedly flipped the lock on my key as I walked off, leaving her sitting inside the car, and so as soon as she moved it set off the alarm. I came back - luckily only a few minutes later - to find her stoically sitting there with the alarm blaring away like a banshee 🤦‍♀️

Luckily she was fine about it….

Deathraystare · 24/02/2024 09:20

Forgot to mention I am at work at the moment but after 1pm travelling to book club which is at my friend Maggie's this afternoon. She is going to serve Boulliabasse (I know that is mis-spelled!!) and a crumble. Really, really looking forward to it. Oh and we might discuss some books!!

HelenaJustina · 24/02/2024 13:16

Death that sounds like a perfect Saturday afternoon!

Umanresources · 24/02/2024 14:57

Very busy morning. Got a label maker the other week and made labels for so many things. Finally got round to ironing them on some sheets and duvet covers, so, of course I had to carry on and iron the rest of them. Usually I just fold them to put in the blanket box (which contains no blankets). Just watched a Real Housewives and a Below Deck at the same time as ironing, for the intellectual stimulation, obviously.

Homemade Meatballs and sauce; and pasta for dinner tonight, followed by clotted cream ice cream.

I'm at the airport very early. I left the hotel at 9:00 to make sure I had plenty of time to get through security, and it took just 10 minutes.

It's lovely here today, but I skipped the pool to save time. I am a bit pink from sitting out in the sun already.

@Umanresources, I am deeply impressed that you iron your sheets. The only thing I iron is work shirts for DH and DS.

I want a label maker now Uman

Something has upset the birds and all I can hear is seagulls and crows squawking.

Umanresources · 24/02/2024 15:56

😂

@Deathraystare

We always said my mum’s bus pass photo made her look like Myra Hindley’s mother. They would have made a good pair.

@MissConductUS I don’t always iron sheets, but I’m sure I’m putting off doing something else, but I can’t think what. I’m very envious of the sunshine you are having. It’s just started raining here in sunny Manchester.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/02/2024 17:28

Rain here in Vancouver, too Uman. ☔️
Safe flight, Miss. 🩷
Death, hope you're having a lovely visit and meal while discussing book.

Snow in the forecast again for the coming week. My money is on rain, though. Just finished latte, banana bread and berries. Havoc is pretending to drink coffee. I can hear baby stirring.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/02/2024 18:22

Have now cleaned up broken coffee cup and washed floor. 🤦‍♀️

I actually got 2 label makers, one is for fabric and the other for everything else. I had seen on Instagram someone had labelled cables for electronics. As we have loads of leads I thought this was a brilliant idea. I got the box with all the little boxes inside and put cables in them. I knew what some of them were for, so made special labels for the actual lead and then small labels for the individual boxes eg, IPad charger, Soupmaker etc. My darling OH said he could help me to label the ones I didn’t know, and there were quite a few of those. I was so excited, so settled down for a thrilling evening.

I handed over the leads and he started with the first one, USB-C to USB-C, USB-A to MICRO USB-B. What?

I said I wanted to know what the leads were for and said he had no idea, he just knew what they were. So now I have well labelled leads but still no idea what they are for, just what they are! 🤔

Tilllly it's a salad made from cubed stale French style bread, tomatoes, onion, basil leaves, and a garlicky Italian style dressing. I also add capers and olives if I have them. Some people add fresh mozzarella. I like to add cucumber.

havoc I locked DD1 into my old banger of a car, 33 years ago. I managed to break the key in the lock of the driver's side door. All was well thanks to an incredibly helpful security guard from the supermarket where we were parked. He initially thought I was trying to break into the car (with the stick I was using to try to jimmy the door open) but ended up using a crowbar he had in his own car to rescue DD quickly, and then when his shift was over he drive us to a locksmith miles away to get a replacement key cut. Apparently the old VW I drove back then was easy to create keys for. It wasn't a popular model of VW.

I woke to snow this morning. Not a lot, but it's cold. We are to have temps in the high 60s next week. This has been a weird winter, and spring is following suit. Normal temps here for February are what we're having today.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/02/2024 20:02

Math, I'm stunned by how often it seems to happen! My best friend told me she did same! For me, at least, I think it is related to sleep deprivation. 🤷‍♀️🤔

And your salad sounds amazing! I've added cubes of italian or french bread to my salads as well. 😋😋😋

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/02/2024 03:51

Made pizza for dinner:
pesto, crab, white onion, red bell pepper, mushroom, spinach and 4 cheeses (basically what was on hand).

I love the aroma of the dough proofing and then the pizza as it bakes. 😋And it is quite satisfying to get a pizza exactly how you like it, hot out of the oven and for much less cost.

Penguinsa · 25/02/2024 05:14

Had the homemade veg soup for lunch and a poached salmon salad for dinner and some shortbread.

Cleaners came and did downstairs and upstairs bathroom. Started to make IKEA cabinet. Still need to get click and collect things.

MissConductUS · 25/02/2024 10:50

I got home last night around 5:00, unpacked, and did a load of laundry. DH and DS made pizza for dinner. I agree, Havoc. It's great to get it exactly as you want it and fresh out of the oven.

I don't recall ever locking the kids in the car, but perhaps I'm just lucky that way.

So I'm back in the cold this morning, -8C. Drat.

Finally hoovered and cleaned the car. Didnt get a chance to shine the bumpers and tyres, nor polish the paintwork, but owning a white car, is satisfying to have a clean car!
