Glad you are recovering well Miss.
Newgirlinclass sorry the cauliflower wasn't up to scratch - I do love cauliflower especially deep fried!
Hilda your garden looks lovely!
Bizzey - what lovely DSs you have.
I remember eating raw rhubarb dipped in sugar as a girl.
Dad is much improved, having some food and feeling stronger. I am visiting at the moment and really pleased and relieved he is getting better.
I have missed DS's rugby match so DH had to get up and take him 45 mins drive to join with another team who are in a similar position with small numbers. The combined team lost but DS had a good game in the scrum and tackling. The team played well together but small mistakes let them down according to DH report.

bizzey · 21/04/2024 18:32

I have put a Duolingo app on my phone and am re learning the language I thought 🤔 🤔 I spoke fluently 30 years ago 😅😅..

I lived and worked in the country for 5 years !!

It is quite fun !

MissConductUS · 21/04/2024 19:05

I'm feeling a bit better today.

Hilda, your garden does look fab. It's too early to start my deck plantings. It almost went down to freezing overnight. I've been too busy to tend to it anyway.

DH and DS mowed the lawn for the first time this season today.

We have a wedding planning Zoom call with DD tonight. Yesterday was the deadline for everyone to reply to the invitations. About 20 people haven't replied, so we have to start chasing them for an answer. We also have a Zoom call with the planner and the florist coming up this week. I can't believe we're only seven weeks away from the big day.

bizzey · 21/04/2024 19:08

Yikes 7 weeks !!!

bizzey · 21/04/2024 19:11

Strangely enough....I am reading my posts with a moisture bomb face mask thing on !!

So I must be subconsciously doing a bit of a beauty pamper in preparation MissC 😅😅🤣🤣!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/04/2024 20:09

Sprouts, nice to know your dad is eating and feeling stronger. Thay's very positive. ☺️
Miss, is that the norm to follow up once the deadline to rsvp has passed?
Penguinsa, spiders bother me, too. I try to catch them in a mason jar if I have one, or large glass, sliding paper underneath, then taking them outside.

Lazy Sunday here. 😴🥱

Penguinsa · 21/04/2024 22:11

Bizzey They always say it's the only time they can do but weekends work well for us.

Nice to have a clean house and went afterwards to a tulip festival, bit too busy, was 1 hour 45 each way so too far really, and had some overpriced Dutch baby pancakes with white chocolate.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Havoc I did, and the weather has taken a turn for the worse, so I wore my freshly washed winter coat. While I was on a roll, I decided to rearrange my bedroom and finally put away all of DD3's dresses and formal clothes that she didn't need to bring with her.

Up next is tackling a few small altering and mending jobs - buttons to tighten up, a few hems to shorten, and sadly, I need to repair some small moth holes in a cashmere sweater.

MissC I hope your weekend was relaxing.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/04/2024 06:14

Math: Murthy's law.... right? Yikes about the moth holes!!! My issue is silverfish. They love our damp climate. Harmless, but give me the creeps and is why I am afraid to go barefoot at home- just in case! 😬

Deathraystare · 22/04/2024 17:38

@Umanresources and @HildaTablet

You must have the greenest of thumbs!!

@Penguinsa

Lovely reminds me of Keukenhopf park in the Netherlands.

@bizzey

Damn your recording box! I have enough trouble with my ordinary freeview only tv. I love watching Monkey world and the Oran Utan school both of which are on Sky arts channel 11. Every so often channels disappear including this one. I get very cross! Funny how it never effects the shopping channels!!!

MissConductUS · 22/04/2024 19:03

I'm a bit better today, and decided to go into work. It's a lovely day, just a bit windy. I had my first turtle sighting of the year at the reservoir.

Havoc, I don't know if it's standard practice to chase up the people who didn't reply to their wedding invitation by the deadline, but our wedding planner encouraged us to do so. It's possible that the post office lost their reply. I don't want anyone turning up without a place to sit or a meal to eat.

@MissConductUS

Nice turtle pic!

Deathraystare · 22/04/2024 19:16

Excuse me @Penguinsa but does a certain Floof not rid you of spiders?

Our (late) black cat would casually pull of a leg, then appear to lose interest, then go back again to get another leg and so on and on. Eeeek! Then you would hear a crunch!!!

Deathraystare · 22/04/2024 19:23

@Imamumgetmeoutofhere
Do you mind me asking you how you got on with talking therapies? They offer it at the hospital where I work. Well, I do not work in the hospital, I am in another building (Mental Health Unit) and we are also in a different NHS Trust! But I know of talking therapies as we have a number for it in our book in reception.

Penguinsa · 22/04/2024 19:35

😂Death Floof rids us of imaginary insects, his eyesight isn't the greatest. Not much use with real spiders. Also when he plays games with us where he pounces he wiggles his bum for about 10 minutes before pouncing so I don't think he'd be very successful at catching anything. There's a lot of fluff but very little brain. And with a game of ball he will only start playing in the one direction, when DH throws it in the other direction first he just looks very confused and I have to tell DH to throw it in the other direction and pre-warn Floof then all is fine.

DH has been in the office at work as IT system down here for his work. DD went to school for first time in a week. DH currently at piano and will collect an Indian takeaway I ordered on his way back. Just getting lots of veggie stuff for DH, DD and I and DS will have chicken korma, rice and peshwari naan.

Nice turtle pic MissC

Penguinsa · 22/04/2024 19:37

I am watching Eddie the Eagle on BBC iplayer. Floof was happy when I asked DH to get him a second tuna before he left and Floof went ah-ah-ah then trilled and wiggled his tail and blinked at me.

Superlambaanana · 22/04/2024 19:41

Oh wow. How have I only found this thread?! I love this idea!!

MissConductUS · 22/04/2024 20:00

Welcome, @Superlambaanana, and thanks for sharing your thread finding news. I think this thread has been going on since at least 2019 or so, so I am also surprised you've never seen it pop up before.

We have a wide variety of regulars from all over the world, but it's like chatting with neighbors over the back fence.

MissConductUS · 22/04/2024 20:54

Interesting, I didn't know the first one was in Classics, and not as old as I thought. I can't even recall when or how I took over the curation role.

OP posts:
Penguinsa · 22/04/2024 21:03

I didn't know it was in classics either just did a search. I hadn't realised how long we had been chatting for but makes sense as I remember saying about my cancer when it had been going quite some time and that was end of 21.

I can't find all the threads - I seemed to have joined at thread 3 and I think you joined a bit after me and I've got thread 6 which you have started so you must have joined at thread 4 or thread 5 would guess.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/04/2024 22:15

Death, I've done talk therapy and found it very helpful to get all my thoughts out and have a supportive, but objective person help me sort things out.
Penguinsa, sounds like Floof gave you little love look. 😍
Miss, There are lots of wedding etiquette/complaint threads here! I hope things go smoothly for you. Glad to know you are feeling ok. 😊

I'm back from errands and gymnastics with Havoc. Have just nursed baby, am waiting for Havoc to doze off holding the squeegee we bought while out and eating my lunch. Lunch is a warm buttered baguette with a piece of salmon fillet I baked with pesto. And a latte, of course. Havoc is now singing the theme to the Paddington cartoon. Baby is smiling. Sun is shining here.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/04/2024 22:38

Penginsa! Thanks for the links to the original threads. I've been browsing through some old ones to find more people to tag. Was Prok aka Curry?
