I was discharged from talking therapies today. Medication plus an ongoing self care plan is helping me so much I don't need the external support anymore

MissConductUS · 18/04/2024 22:42

Welcome, @Imamumgetmeoutofhere, and thanks for sharing your news. Congratulations on your discharge and improving prognosis.

Thank you. I'm feeling proud of myself. I've worked hard for this 🙂

@MissConductUS
@NewGirlinClass
I’m in the North West of the UK and have a cherry tree. I think this is the third year and had lovely blossom, but never had actual fruit yet. My plants are in pots in the back garden but in beds in the front garden. I have a Mountain Fire (I think) and a Hydrangea there.
I’ve spent most of the day vacuuming, stairs and living room. It takes me ages to shuffle round with it, but so pleased it’s done.
Chicken curry for tea.

We've also got a cherry tree, a morello, and have had lots of fruit from it in the past - but it needs to be netted as the birds love it, which is such a pain we usually don’t bother.

NewGirlinClass · 18/04/2024 23:46

Birds and cherries humans always competitive.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/04/2024 05:24

Oh, I'd love to have fruit trees. Just a small garden this year to teach Havoc. I'll admit it's not a passion of mine, though.... We had a plum tree in our yard when I was a kid.

It's nice to see tagging worked. 🥳

bizzey · 19/04/2024 10:37

MissC ..hope you are recovering well x

Havoc ...well done on your word quiz !

I playa trivia quizz on my phone.

And thanks to this thread I knew some of the answers !! 😁😁

I knew what "grits " were and when Canada celebrate their Thanksgiving 🤣😅😅 !

PTSDBarbiegirl · 19/04/2024 11:32

Hi @Mumtobabyhavoc thanks for the tag.
Today is a happy and lazy day for me, after a very early start to work I am now finished. Hoping to get my washing hung out to dry. I've had toasted muffins, butter and primula spread for brunch with strong hot tea. I will soon listen to a true crime podcast while sorting out my wardrobe and movings things that don't fit into a charity bag. When I finish I will leave wardrobe doors open to bask in the minimalist, well folded joy.
Later I might have some gin and listen to 80's music but I also may have chai latte and lie on cushions. Enjoy everyone.

MissConductUS · 19/04/2024 12:03

I'm off sick today, as you might expect. I got a text from my boss last night telling me to get some rest for my surgery today. The numpty had the days mixed up and thought I was out yesterday having a bloody mental health day. I told him the surgery was done and that I was now home. I hope he's not expecting me in today.

It was pretty bad last night when the IV pain meds wore off. I couldn't fall asleep, so finally about 1:00 AM, I took the narcotic painkiller they gave me and got three or so hours of sleep. So today looks like a lazy day, probably with a nap later. The pain does seem a bit less this morning.

DS has tickets to see the New York Yankees play baseball tonight, so he will do that with a few of his mates. DH and I will have to figure out what to day. Friday usually is homemade pizza night, but it doesn't make sense for just the two of us.

Is your boss not very observant, MissC? Sorry to hear you were in pain. I hope things are feeling easier now and that you had a nap.

Have a couple of comforting pictures of my cherry blossom (before the wind blows it all away!) and some bluebells in the garden (ignore weeds).

Hope you are feeling a bit better today MissC. Take it easy and rest up but if you are a busy type of person that's a difficult thing to do.

Although I am not very mobile, I find it hard to just sit and do nothing. My jobs are; to fold up the dry laundry, peel and chop vegetables, sit down to do ironing (infrequently) and other things I can do in a seated or leaning position. I can also fill and empty the dishwasher and washing machine. Not usually on the same day though. I do the online grocery shop as well, although sometimes I've made mistakes. Someone from the supermarket phoned me once to check if I'd ordered the correct number of leeks. I wanted 2 but ordered 22 by mistake. They said they would have had to put on an extra van just for my order. They were the biggest leeks I'd ever seen. Two overfilled a carrier bag. Thank goodness the person checked first. 😂
Love your plants Hilda. Looking healthier than mine at the moment.
I tried your word game Havoc but I only managed half of a couple of them and I couldn't work out where* * I was going wrong. I do Wordle every day and just discovered Sedecordle, which is 16 wordles in a grid, 21 chances to get them right. It's probably easier than wordle as well.

Penguinsa · 19/04/2024 14:23

Well done Imamumgetmeoutofhere hope things continue to improve.

Beautiful blossom Uman and Hilda

Hope you can recover quickly MissC

Plumber came to see downstairs bathroom but says can't do until mid next week though it's ok already with DHs work but would have preferred done today as cleaners come on Sunday.

We have an apple tree, holly trees male and female, and a magnolia. Used to have a lot of fruit and veg in the garden growing up, apples, plums, rhubarb, strawberries, mint, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, runner beans etc. Seen quite a few cherry trees in blossom here this year, Wisley had maybe a hundred or more of them.

Penguinsa · 19/04/2024 14:30

Sainsbury's order and got message that they have made 1 substitution

We’ve tried to pick the best substitute for the unavailable items below.
Items Quantity Price
Sainsbury's Home Stainless Steel Toilet Brush 1 £6.50

HildaTablet · 19/04/2024 14:45

22 leeks would have made a nice lot of soup, Uman - assuming you’d ordered several kilos of potatoes to go with them! I don’t think I’ve ever had any interesting (or unexpectedly advantageous) substitutions in an online grocery shop.

I planted some veg seeds yesterday - sweetcorn - and already have leeks, cavolo Nero and sweet red peppers in. I’d forgotten from last year that the peppers take an age to sprout. I also potted on my tomato seedlings. They’re absolutely tiny and it’s very disheartening to go to the garden centre and see enormous great plants for sale.

IWanderedLonely · 20/04/2024 08:53

We have 1 apple tree, which we planted the year my granddaughter was born, so 13 years ago. It did really well until last year when it only gave us about 8 apples. DH decided it needed pruning, but butchered it (as usual, he really should be kept away from secateurs and pruners) so I'm not optimistic for this year either. We also have a crab apple which always does well but I find them too faffy to do anything with.

NewGirlinClass · 20/04/2024 09:04

Dinner in a nice enough pub last night.
Starter, I tried the deep-fried Cauliflower; it had a coating with oriental herbs and spices. Awful!
Serves me right for expecting any good could come from a cauli.

MissConductUS · 20/04/2024 12:09

I decided to do a bit of shopping yesterday. I went to the warehouse club. One of the downsides of shopping there is that they have people who approach you to try to get you to switch mobile phone companies or sell you home improvement services. Typically, they leave me alone, but yesterday I was approached by both. Each time it happened, I mouthed the words "I can't speak" while pointing at the huge bandage covering my throat. I can actually talk, but it was funny to see the look of horror on their faces. They left me alone after that.

I did get a good night's sleep last night, but I woke up with a sore neck. I don't know if that's because I slept on it wrong or if it's post-surgical discomfort. Probably the latter. I get to take the bandage off today, but the steri-strips underneath stay on for another week or two. I have my post-op exam with the orthopedic surgeon in two weeks.

DS had a nice time at the baseball game with his mates. It's raining here, but it's supposed to clear up later.

Uman, the blossoms are so pretty!
Bizzey, it sounds like you have nice relationships with your ds.

Math, did you get all your winter washing done and put away?
Death, I'd move too.
Barbie, did you choose gin or chai?

Not much sleep. It's 6:40am now. Up with baby at 6 and has just fallen back asleep. Havoc woke up, wanted milk and pasta. Is drinking milk, but pasta is untouched. Need to go back to aleep....😵‍💫

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/04/2024 17:57

Miss, don't push yourself. 🩷
Penguins, rhubarb!!! Reminds me of my childhood. ☺️
We also had it growing in the back yard for a bit (also huckleberries and salmonberries, but they were wild). I remember eating rhubarb stalks raw and dipping them into a little cup with sugar.
Newgirl, I love my food (and I cook a lot) and hate the cost of eating out, so a disappointing meal would make me want to 😢

Heading to first session of toddler soccer today!!! 😄

My TV recording box ha really died ...
I mean ...really really ...beyond resuscitation.... switch it off and switch it on again type of revival !

And ... possibly all my fault !

I am very naugty and usually leave it on standby at night as I am to lazy to get out of bed to switch it off !

Well last night I did switch it off....

And this is the thanks I get from it for giving it a bit of a recharge!

Luckily...I have another one which I have plugged in ...

I now have to go through and re -sign myself into all the apps that need passwords and stuff 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️...

But on a positive note...

When I click ...record all episodes ..(EE , Corrie , Emmerdale etc ...cos I live s uch an exciting life ! It does seem to be doing that !
Before I still had to go through each day separately to add the recordings even though I clicked record all episodes!)

I did have a lot of recordings that I hadn't yet watched ...but then again ....they can't have been something I desperately needed/wanted to watch ...or I would have watched them 🤔😁!

I tend to record things on advert channels ...in order to skip the adverts !

bizzey · 21/04/2024 14:13

And I find it easier to rewind some thing I have recorded to hear again what some one did or said ....than doing that on an app !

Penguinsa · 21/04/2024 14:19

Had never heard of salmonberry before Havoc In Finland we were given cloudberry which had never come across before.

Cleaners came this morning. DH left and after about 30 mins I heard one of them scream really loud and I thought what have they found that maybe DS has done that made them scream though was surprised but it turned out it was a spider. 😂Was quite relieved.

Having roast dinner soon and after that we are either going to see tulip fields or go swimming, tulips are quite a drive but it's a tulip festival.

bizzey · 21/04/2024 15:10

Penguinsa ...me neither !
But it is definitely something I am storing away on the little brain cells for future reference !

bizzey · 21/04/2024 15:11

How do you get cleaners to come in on a weekend ?
